Virtues, description, and recitation method of VISITING THE HOLY PROPHET FROM A DISTANCE as recorded in Shia traditions.

اَشْهَدُ اَنْ لَا اِلْهَ اِلَّ اللهُ وَحَدَهُ لَا شَرِيْكَ لَهُ

I bear witness that there is no god save Allah, alone without

وَ اَشْهَدُ اَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَ رَسُوْلَهُ

having any associate, and l bear witness that Muhammad is

وَ أَنَّهُ سَيِّدُ الْاَوَّلِيْنَ وَ الْأَخِرِيْنَ

His servant and Messenger, that he is the chief of the ancient

وَ أَنَّهُ سَيِّدُ الْاَنْبِيَاءِ وَ الْمُرْسَلِيْنَ

and the coming generations, and that he is the chief of all Prophets and Messengers. O Allah, send blessings upon him

اَللّهُمّ صَلَّ عَلَيْهِ وَ عَلَى اَهْلِ بَيْتِهِ الْأَئِمَةِ الطَيِّبِينَ.

and upon his Household the Immaculate Imams.

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا رَسُوْلَ اللهِ

Peace be upon you, O Messenger of Allah. Peace be upon

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا خَلِيْلَ اللهِ

you, O Friend of Allah. Peace be upon you, O Prophet of

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا نَبِيَّ اللهِ

Allah. Peace be upon you, O Choice of Allah. Peace be upon

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا صَفِيَّ اللهِ

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا رَحْمَةَ اللهِ

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا خِيَرَةَ اللَهِ

you, O Mercy of Allah. Peace be upon you, O Well-Chosen by

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا حَبِيْبَ اللهِ

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا نَجِيْبَ اللهِ

Allah. Peace be upon you, O Most Beloved by Allah. Peace be

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا خَاتَمَ النَّبِيِّيْنَ

upon you, O Selected by Allah. Peace be upon you, O Seal of

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا سَيِّدَ الْمُرْسَلِيْنَ

the Prophets. Peace be upon you, O Master of the

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا قَائِمًا بِالْقِسْطِ

Messengers. Peace be upon you, O Maintainer of justice.

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا فَاتِحَ الْخَيْرِ

Peace be upon you, O introducer of goodliness. Peace be

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا مَعْدِنَ الْوَحِي وَ التَّنَزِيْلِ

upon you, O core of Divine Inspiration and Revelation. Peace

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا مُبَلَّغًا عَنِ اللهِ

be upon you, O conveyor on behalf of Allah. Peace be upon

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ آَيُّهَا السِّرَاجُ الْمُنِيْرُ،

you, O light-giving torch. Peace be upon you, O conveyor of

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا مُبَشَّرُ

good tidings (to the believers). Peace be upon you, O warner

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا نَذِيْرُ

(against Allah's chastisement). Peace be upon you, O he who

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا مُنْذِرُ

warns (against violating Allah's commands). Peace be upon

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا نُوْرَ اللهِ الَّذِيْ يُسْتَضَآءُ بِهِ

you, O Allah's Light that spreads luminosity. Peace be upon

ٱلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ وَ عَلَى اَهْلِ بَيْتِكَ الطَّيِّبِينَ الطَّاهِرِيْنَ

you and upon your Household-the pure, immaculate, guides,

الْهَادِيْنَ الْمَهْدِيِّيْنَ

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ وَ عَلَى جَدِّكَ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ

and rightly guided. Peace be upon you and upon your

وَ عَلَى اَبِيْكَ عَبْدِ اللهِ

grandfather, 'Abd al-Muttalib, and upon your father, 'Abdullah.

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَى أُمِّكَ أمِنَةَ بِئْتِ وَهْبٍ

peace be upon your mother, Aminah the daughter of Wahab.

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَى عَمَّكَ حَمْزَةَ سَيِّدِ الشُّهَدَاءِ

Peace be upon your (paternal) uncle, Hamzah, the master of

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَى عَمَّكَ الْعَبَاسِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ

martyrs. Peace be upon your uncle, al-'Abbas the son of 'Abd

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَى عَمَّكَ وَ كَفِيْلِكَ اَبِي طَالِبِ

al-Muttalib. Peace be upon your uncle and your guardian,

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَى ابْنِ عَمَّكَ جَعْفَرِ اِلطَيَارِ فِيْ جِنَانِ الْخُلْدِ

Abu-Talib. Peace be upon your cousin, Ja'far the flying in the

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا مُحَمَّدُ

gardens of the Paradise of Eternity. Peace be upon you, O

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَآ اَحْمَدُ

Muhammad (the praised). Peace be upon you, O Ahmad (the

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا حُجَةَ اللهِ عَلَى الْاوّلِيْنَ وَ الْأخِرِيْنَ،

more praised). Peace be upon you, O Argument of Allah

وَ السَّابِقَ اِلَى طَاعَةٍ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِيْنَ

against the past and coming generations, foremost to the

وَ الْمُهَيْمِنَ عَلْى رُسُلِهِ

وَ الخَاتِمَ لِانْبِيَائِهِ

obedience to the Lord of the worlds, prevailing over His

وَ الشَّاهِدَ عَلَى خَلْقِهِ

Messengers, last of His Prophets, witness over all His

وَ الشَّفِيْعَ اِلَيْهِ

وَ الْمَكِيْنَ لَدَيْهِ

creatures, interceder to Him, firmly established with Him,

وَ الْمُطَاعَ فِيْ مَلكُوْتِهِ

obeyed in His Kingdom, winner of the most praised qualities,

الْاَحْمَدَ مِنَ الاَوْصَافِ

المُحَمَدَ لِسَآئِرِ الْاَشْرَافِ

الْكَرِيْمَ عِنْدَ الرَّبِّ

holder of the most praised honors, honored by the Lord,

وَ الْمُكَلَّمَ مِنْ وَرَاءِ الْحُجُبِ

addressee (by Almighty Allah) from behind the (Divine) Veils,

الْفَائِزَ بِالسَّبَاقِ

most advanced in position, and unovertakable. I greet you

وَ الْفَآئِتَ عَنِ اللَّحَاقِ

with the greeting of him who acknowledges your right (that is

تَسْلِيْمَ عَارِفِ بِحَقَّكَ

incumbent upon us), who confesses of his shortcoming in

مُعْتَرِفِ بِالتَقْصِيْرِ فِيْ قِيَامِهِ بِوَاجِبِكَ

carrying out his duty towards you, who does not discuss your

غَيْرٍ مُنْكِرٍ مَا انْتَهَى اِلَيْهِ مِنْ فَضْلِكَ

limitless virtues, who is sure that you will have more rewards

مُؤْقِنٍ بِالْمَزِيْدَاتِ مِنْ رَبِّكَ

from your Lord, who believes in the Book that was revealed

مُؤْمِنٍ بِالكِتَابِ الْمُنْزَلِ عَليْكَ

to you, who deems lawful all that which you deemed lawful,

مُحَلَّلٍ حَلَالَكَ

and who deems unlawful all that which you deemed

مُحَرَّمٍ حَرَامَكَ

اَشْهَدُ يَا رَسُوْلَ اللهِ مَعَ كُلِّ شَاهِدٍ

unlawful. O Messenger of Allah, I bear witness-and I join

وَ اَتَّحَمَلُهَا عَنْ كُلِّ جَاجِدٍ

everyone who bears witness and also bear witness rather

أَنَّكَ قَدْ بَلَغْتَ رِسَالَاتِ رَبِّكَ،

than everyone who may deny it-that you conveyed the

وَ نَصَحْتَ لأُمَّتِكَ

messages of your Lord (flawlessly), offered your nation good

وَ جَاهَدْتَ فِيْ سَبِيْلِ رَبَّكَ

advice, strove in the way of your Lord, expounded openly

وَ صَدَعْتَ بِامْرِهِ

وَ اخْتَمَلْتَ الْاَذْى فِيْ جَنْبِهِ

what you were commanded to convey, stood harm for the

وَ دَعَوْتَ إِلَى سَبِيْلِهِ بِالْحِكْمَةِ وَ الْمَوْعِظَةِ الْحَسَنَةِ الْجَمِيْلَةِ

sake of Him, called to the way of Him withexcellent wisdom

وَ اَدَّيْتَ الْحَقَّ الَّذِيْ كَانَ عَلَيْكَ

and fair exhortation, fulfilled the duty with which you were

وَ اَنَّكَ قَدْ رَوُّفْتَ بِالْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ

commissioned, you, verily, were compassionate to the

وَ غَلُظْتَ عَلَى الْكَافِرِيْنَ

believers, strong against the unbelievers, and you

وَ عَبَدْتَ اللهَ مُخْلِصًا حَتَّى آَنَاكَ الْيَقِيْنُ

worshipped Allah sincerely until death came upon you.

فَبَلَغَ اللهُ بِكَ اَشْرَفَ مَحَلَ الْمُكَرَّمِيْنَ

Therefore, Almighty Allah has exalted you to the most

وَ اَعْلَى مَنَازِلِ الْمُقَرِّبِيْنَ

honorable position of the ennobled ones, to the most

وَ اَرْفَعَ دَرَجَاتِ الْمُرْسَلِيْنَ حَيْثُ لَا يَلْحَقُكَ لَا حِقٌ

elevated place of the intimate servants of Him, and. to the

وَ لَا يَفُوْقُكَ فَائِقٌ

most exalted ranks of the Messengers where none can come

وَ لَا يَسْبِقُكَ سَابِقٌ

up with you, none can excel you, none can overtake you, and

وَ لَا يَظْمَعُ فِيْ اِدْرَاكِكَ طَامِعْ

none can even think of obtaining your rank. All praise be to

اَلْحَمْدُ للهِ الَّذِي اسْتَنْقَذَنَا بِكَ مِنَ الْهَلَكَةِ،

Allah Who saved us from perdition through you, Who guided

وَ هَدَانَا بِكَ مِنَ الضَّلَالَةِ

us off misdirection through you, and Who lit our darkness

وَ نَوَّرَنَا بِكَ مِنَ الظَّلْمَةِ

through you. O Messenger of Allah, may Allah reward you, for

فَجَزَاكَ اللهُ يَا رَسُوْلَ اللّهِ مِنْ مَبْعُوْثٍ اَفْضَلَ مَا جَازَى نَبِيًّا عَنْ آَمَّتِهِ

you are His envoy, with the best rewarding that He has ever conferred upon a prophet .on behalf of his people or a

وَ رَسُوْلًا عَمَّنْ أُرْسِلَ اِلَيْهِ

messenger on behalf of those to whom He has sent him. May Allah accept my father and my mother as ransoms for

بِآبِي آَنْتَ وَ أُمّن يَا رَسُوْلَ اللهِ زُرْتُكَ عَارِفًا بِحَقَّكَ

you, O Messenger of Allah. I am visiting you for !

مُقِرًا بِفَضْلِكَ

acknowledge your right (that is incumbent upon us), 1 confess of your superiority, I know for sure about the straying

مُسْتَبْصِرًا بِضَلَالَةٍ مَنْ خَالَفَكَ وَ خَالَفَ اَهْلَ بَيْتِكَ

off (from the right path) of those who dissent from you and

عَارِفًا بِالْهَدَى الَّذِيَّ أَنْتَ عَلَيْهِ

from your Household, and I admit the true guidance that you

بِآبِيّ آَنْتَ وَ أُمَّن وَ نَفْسِيْ وَ اَهْلِيْ وَ مَالِيْ وَ وَلَدِيّ

follow (and lead to). May Allah accept my father, my mother,

آَنَا أُصَلَّيْ عَلَيْكَ كَمَا صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْكَ

me, my family, my property, and my sons as ransoms for you! Let me invoke Almighty Allah's blessings upon you in the same way as Allah did send blessings upon you and so did

وَ صَلَّى عَلَيْكَ مَلَائِكَتُهُ وَ اَنْبِيَاؤُهُ وَ رُسُلُهُ

His angels, Prophets, and Messengers, such blessings that

صَلَاةً مُتَتَابِعَةً وَافِرَةً مُتَوَاصِلَةً

are consecutive, abundant, continuous, incessant, infinite,

لَا انْقِطَاعَ لَهَا وَ لَا آَمَدَ وَ لَا أَجَلَ

and unlimited. May Allah send blessings upon you and upon

صَلَّى اللّهُ عَلَيْكَ وَ عَلَى آَهْلِ بَيْتِكَ الطَّيّبِينَ الطَاهِرِيْنَ كَمَا اَنْثُمْ اَهْلُهُ.

your Household, the pure and immaculate, as much as you

اَللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْ جَوَامِعَ صَلَوَاتِكَ

deserve.

وَ نَوَامِيَ بَرَكَاتِكَ

O Allah, (please do) make You complete blessings, Your

وَ فَوَاضِلَ خَيْرَاتِكَ

perfect benedictions, Your most virtuous boons, and Your

وَ شَرَآئِفَ تَحِيَّاتِكَ وَ تَسْلِيْمَاتِكَ

most honorable greetings, salutations, dignities, and mercy,

وَ كَرَامَاتِكَ وَ رَحَمَاتِكَ

وَ صَلَوَاتٍ مَلَائِكَتِكَ الْمُقَرَّبِيْنَ

as well as the blessings of Your archangels, your

وَ اَنْبِيَآئِكَ الْمُرْسَلِيْنَ

commissioned Prophets, Your elite lmams, Your righteous

وَ اَئِمَّتِكَ الْمُنْتَجَبِيْنَ

وَ عِبَادِكَ الضَّالِحِيْنَ

وَ اَهْلِ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَ الْاَرَضِيْنَ

servants, the inhabitants of the heavens and the earth, and

وَ مَنْ سَبَّحَ لَكَ يَا رَبَّ الْعَالَمِيْنَ

(the blessings of) everyone who glorified You, O Lord of the

مِنَ الْاَوَّلِيْنَ وَ الْأخِرِيْنَ

worlds, from the past and the coming generations— make all

عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ عَبْدِكَ وَ رَسُوْلِكَ

these pour forth upon Muhammad; Your servant, Your

وَ شَاهِدِكَ وَ نَبِيِّكَ

messenger, Your witness, Your Prophet, Your warner, Your

وَ نَذِيْرِكَ وَ اَمِيْنِكَ

trustee, Your firmly established (in truth), Your confidante,

وَ مَكِيْنِكَ وَ نَجِيِّكَ

وَ نَجِيْبِكَ وَ حَبِيْبِكَ

وَ خَلِيْلِكَ وَ صَفِيِّكَ

Your elite, Your most beloved, Your friend, Your choice, Your

وَ صَفْوَتِكَ وَ خَاضَّتِكَ

وَ خَالِصَتِكَ وَ رَحْمَتِكَ

وَ خَيْرٍ خِيَرَتِكَ مِنْ خَلْقِكَ

notable, Your elect, Your well-chosen, Your mercy, the best of

نَبِيِّ الرَّحمَةِ

Your created beings, the Prophet of mercy, the storer of

وَ خَازِنِ الْمَغْفِرَةِ

وَ قَائِدِ الْخَيْرِ وَ الْبَرَكَةِ،

forgiveness, the leader to goodliness and blessing, the savior

وَ مُنْقِذِ الْعِبَادِ مِنَ الْهَلَكَةِ بِاِذْنِكَ

of the servants (of Almighty Allah) from perdition by Your

وَ دَاعِيْهِمْ إِلَى دِيْنِكَ

permission, the caller of them to Your religion, the custodian

الْقَيِّمِ بامْرِكَ

اَوَّلِ النَّبِيِّيْنَ مِيْثَاقًا

by Your order, the first Prophet to make the covenant, and the

وَ أَخِرِهِمْ مَبْعَثًا

last Prophet to be sent (to humanity), whom You have

اِلَّذِي غَمَسْتَهُ فِيْ بَخْرِ الْفَضِيْلَةِ

immersed in the ocean of virtue, in the lofty rank, in the

وَ الْمَنْزِلَةِ الْجَلِيْلَةِ

وَ الدَّرَجَةِ الرَّفِيْعَةِ

وَ الْمَرْتَبَةِ الْخَطِيْرَةِ

elevated level, and in the exalted position; and whom You

وَ أَوْدَعْتَهُ الْاضلَابَ الطَّاهِرَةَ

entrusted in the pure loins and moved to the immaculate

وَ نَقَلْتَهُ مِنْهَا إِلَى الْاَرْحَامِ الْمُطَهَرَةِ

wombs out of Your kindness to him and Your compassion to

لُظفًا مِنْكَ لَهُ

وَ تَحَنُّنَا مِنْكَ عَلَيْهِ

اِذْ وَكَّلْتَ لِصَوْنِهِ وَ حِرَاسَتِهِ

him. In order to safeguard, to shield, to protect, and to defend

وَ حِفْظِهِ وَ حِيَاطَتِهِ

مِنْ قُدْرَتِكَ عَيْنًا عَاصِمَةً

him, You assigned, out of Your omnipotence, a protective

حَجَبْتَ بِهَا عَنْهُ مَدَانِسَ الْعَهْرِ

lookout over him to keep him from the impurities of adultery

وَ مَعَائِبَ السَّفَاحِ

and from the defects of fornication, thus, You raised the

حَثُّى رَفَعْتَ بِهِ نَوَاظِرَ الْعِبَادِ

sights of the servants through him and revived the derelict

وَ اَخيَيْتَ بِهِ مَيْتَ الْبِلَادِ

lands when You removed the screening murk by the light of

بِآَنْ كَشَفْتَ عَنْ نُوْرٍ وِلَادَتِهِ ظُلَمَ الْاَسْتَارِ

his birth and dressed Your Holy Precinct the garments of

وَ اَلْبَسْتَ حَرَمَكَ بِهِ حَلَلَ الْاَنْوَارِ،

brightness through him. O Allah, as You have given him

اَللّهُمَّ فَكَمَا خَصَصتَهُ بِشَرَفِ هَذِهِ الْمَرْتَبَةِ الْكَرِيْمَةِ

exclusively the honor of this noble rank and the privilege of

وَ ذُخْرِ هَذِهِ الْمَنْقَبَةِ الْعَظِيمَةِ

صَلَّ عَلَيْهِ كَمَا وَفِى بِعَهْدِكَ

this great merit, (please do) bless him for he fulfilled his

وَ بَلِّغَ رِسَالَاتِكَ

covenant to You, conveyed all Your messages, fought against

وَ قَاتَلَ آَهْلَ الْجُحُوْدِ عَلَى تَوْحِيْدِكَ

the infidels in order to prove Your Oneness, exterminated the

وَ قَطَعَ رَحِمَ الْكُفْرِ فِيَ اِعْزَازٍ دِيْنِكَ

womb of atheism in order to strengthen Your religion, and

وَ لَبِسَ ثَوْبَ الْبَلْوْى فِيْ مُجَاهَدَةِ اَعْدَآئِكَ

dressed himself the garb of misfortune in order to struggle

وَ اَوْجَبْتَ لَهُ بِكُلِّ اَذَّى مَسَّهُ

against Your enemies. Hence, You have given him as

آَوْ كَيْدٍ أَحَسَّ بِهِ

recompense for any harm that inflicted him, any trickery that

مِنَ الْفِئَةِ الَّتِيْ حَاوَلَتْ قَثلَهُ

he faced from the faction who tried to assassinate him; a

فَضِيْلَةً تَفُوْقُ الْفَضَائِلَ

merit that excels all other merits and due to which he

وَ يَمْلِكُ بِهَا الْجَزِيْلَ مِنْ نَوَالِكَ

وَ قَدْ اَسَرَّ الْحَسْرَةَ

وَاَخْفَى الزَّفْرَةَ

possessed Your abundant gifts. In return, he hid his sadness,

وَ تَجَرَّعَ الْغُصَّةَ

concealed his grief, swallowed the pang, and never did he

وَ لَمْ يَتَخَطَّ مَا مَثَلَ لَهُ وَحْيْكَ

violate the instructions of Your Revelation. O Allah, (please

اَللّهُمَّ صَلَّ عَلَيْهِ وَ عَلَى اهْلِ بَيْتِهِ صَلُوةً تَرْضَاهَا لَهُمْ

do) send blessings upon him and his Household-blessings

وَ بَلَغْهُمْ مِنَّا تَحِيَّةً كَثِيْرَةً وَ سَلَامًا

that You please for them, and convey our abundant greetings

وَ أَتِنَا مِنْ لَدُنْكَ فِيْ مُوَالَاتِهِمْ فَضْلًا وَ إِخْسَانًا

and compliments to him, and give us - from You on account

وَ رَحْمَةً وَ غُفْرَانًا

of our loyalty to them -favors, kindness, mercy, and

إِنَّكَ ذُوْ الْفَضْلِ الْعَظِيمِ.

forgiveness. Verily, You are the Lord of great favor.

اَللَّهُمَّ اِنَّكَ قُلْتَ لِنَبِيِّكَ مُحَمَّدٍ

O Allah, You have said to Your Prophet Muhammad- may

صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ ألِهِ

وَ لَوْ أَنَّهُمْ اِذْ ظَلَمُوا اَنْفُسَهُمْ

Allah bless him and his Household: "And had they, when they

جَاءُوْكَ فَاسْتَغْفَرُوْا اللهَ

were unjust to themselves, come to you and asked

وَ اسْتَغْفَرَ لَهُمُ الرَّسُوْلُ

forgiveness of Allah and the Messenger had (also) asked

لَوَجَدُوا اللهَ تَوَّابًا رَجِيْمًا

forgiveness for them, they would have found Allah Oft- returning (to mercy), Merciful." I was not present at the age

وَ لَمُ اَخْضُرْ زَمَانَ رَسُوْلِكَ عَلَيْهِ وَ الِهِ السَّلَامُ

of Your Messenger-peace be upon him and his Household.

اَللّهُمّ وَ قَدْ زُرْتُهُ رَاغِبًا تَآئِبًا مِنْ سَيِّئٍ عَمَلِيْ

O Allah, I have visited him desiring, repenting from my ill

وَ مُسْتَغْفِرًا لَكَ مِنْ ذُنُوْبِيْ

deeds, imploring forgiveness of my sins, confessing of my having committed these sins although You know them more

وَ مُقِرًّا لَكَ بِهَا وَ اَنْتَ اَعْلَمُ بِهَا مِنَّيْ

than I do, and turning my face towards You in the name of

وَ مُتَوَجُّهًا اِلَيْكَ بِنَبِيِّكَ نَبِيِّ الرَّحْمَةِ

Your Prophet, the Prophet of Mercy- may Your blessings be

صَلَوَاتُكَ عَلَيْهِ وَ الِهِ

upon him and his Household. O Allah, in the name of

فَاجْعَلْنِنْ اللَّهمّ بِمُحَمَدٍ وَ اَهْلِ بَيْتِهِ عِئْدَكَ وَجِيْهَا

Muhammad and his Household, (please do) make me

فِي الدُّنْيَا وَ الْأَخِرَةِ وَ مِنَ الْمُقَرَّبِيْنَ

illustrious in this world as well as the Next World and one of

يَا مُحَمَّدُ

يَا رَسُوْلَ اللّهِ

those brought near to You. O Muhammad! O Messenger of

بِاَبِيّ أَنْتَ وَ اَمَّيْ

Allah! May Allah accept my father and mother as ransoms

يَا نَبِيَّ اللهِ

for you! O Prophet of Allah! O chief of all created beings of

يَا سَيِّدَ خَلْقِ اللهِ

إِنَّيّ أَتَّوَجَّهُ بِكَ إِلَى اللهِ رَبِّكَ وَ رَبَّيْ

Allah! In Your name do l turn my face towards Allah, my and

ليَغْفِرَ لِي ذُنُوْبِيْ

your Lord, so that He may forgive my sins, accept my deeds,

وَيَتَقَبَلَ مِنَّي عَمَلِيْ،

وَ يَقْضِيَ لِي حَوَائِجِي

فَكُنْ لِيْ شَفِيْعًا عِنْدَ رَبِّكَ وَ رَبَّيْ

and settle my requests. Therefore, be my interceder before

فَنِعَمَ الْمَسْئُوْلُ الْمَوْلَى رَبِّيْ

your and my Lord, for my Lord, the Master, is the best

وَ نِعِمَ الشَّفِيْعُ آَنْتَ

besought and You are the best interceder. O Muhammad!

يَا مُحَمَّدُ

عَلَيْكَ وَ عَلَى اَهْلِ بَيْتِكَ السَّلَامُ

May peace be upon you and upon your Household. O Allah,

اَللَّهُمَّ وَ اَوْجِبْ لِي مِثْكَ الْمَغْفِرَةَ وَ الرَّحْمَةَ

(please do) confer upon me with forgiveness, mercy, and

وَ الرِّزْقَ الوَاسِعَ الطَّيِّبَ النَّافِعَ

sustenance that is outgoing, good, and beneficial from Your Presence in the same way as You conferred upon him who

كَمَا اَوْجَبْتَ لِمَنْ أَثَى نَبِيَّكَ مُحَمَّدًا

came to Your Prophet, Muhammad, when he was alive, may

صَلَوَاتُكَ عَلَيْهِ وَ الِهِ

your blessings be upon him and his Household, and

وَ هُوَ حَيٌّ فَاَقَرَّ لَهُ بِذُنُوْبِهِ

confessed of his sins. Thus, Your Messenger prayed You to

وَ اسْتَغْفَرَ لَهُ رَسُوْلَكَ

عَلَيْهِ وَ الِهِ السَّلَامُ

forgive him. May your blessings be upon him and his

فَغَفَزْتَ لَهُ بِرَحْمَتِكَ يَآ أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِيْنَ

Household. And You did forgive him out of Your mercy, O

اَللّهُمَّ وَ قَدْ امّلتُك و رجِوتُك

most Merciful of all those who show mercy. O Allah, I now

وَ قُمْتُ بَيْنَ يَدَيْكَ

put my hope in You, please You, stand before You, desire for

وَ رَغِبْتُ اِليْكَ عَمَّنْ سِوَاكَ

You other than anyone else, and hope for Your abundant

وَ قَدْ آَمَلْتُ جَزِيْلَ ثَوَابِكَ

وَ اِنَّيْ لَمُقِرُّ غَيْرُ مُنْكِرٍ

reward while I confess of my sins and I do not deny them, 1

وَ تَائِبٌ اِليْكَ مِمَّا اقْتَرَفْتُ

repent to You from whatever I have committed, and I seek

وَ عَائِذٌ بِكَ فِيْ هَذَا الْمَقَامِ

refuge with You from this position against the deeds that |

مِمَّا قَدَّمْتُ مِنَ الْاَعْمَال

have committed although You, firstly, had introduced them to

الَتِيْ تَقَدَّمْتَ اِلَيَّ فِيْهَا، وَ نَهَيْتَنِيْ عَنْهَا

me as prohibited, warned me against committing them, and

وَ اَوْعَدْتَ عَلَيْهَا الْعِقَابَ

threatened me with Your punishment if I would violate. And l

وَ اَعُوْذُ بِكَرَمِ وَجْهِكَ

seek shelter with the nobility of Your Face lest You impose

آَنْ تُقِيْمَيِن مَقَامَ الْخِزْي وَ الذُّلَّ

upon me the situation of disgrace and humility on the day

يَوْمَ تُهْتَكُ فِيْهِ الْاَسْتَارُ

When the veils will be exposed, the secrets and scandals will

وَ تَبْدُوْ فِيْهِ الْاَسْرَارُ وَ الْفَضَائِحُ

وَ تَرْعَدُ فِيْهِ الْفَرَائِصُ

be disclosed, and the muscles will writhe with fear; on the

يَوْمَ الحَسْرَةِ وَ النَّدَامَةِ

day of regret and remorse, the day of exposing the liars, the

يَوْمَ الْأفِكَةِ

يَوْمَ الْأَزِفَةِ

يَوْمَ التَّغَابُن

day of the approaching doom, the day of assembling, the day

يَوْمَ الْفَضْلِ

of separation, the day of punishment, the day the measure of

يَوْمَ الجَزَاءِ

يَوْمًا كَانَ مِقْدَارُهُ خَمْسِيْنَ اَلْفَ سَئَةٍ

يَوْمَ النَّفْخَةِ

which is fifty thousand years, the day of the blowing, the day

يَوْمَ تَرْجُفُ الرَّاجِفَةِ

تَتْبَعُهَا الرَّادِفَةُ

on which the quaking land shall quake followed by oft-

يَوْمَ النَّشْرِ

يَوْمَ العَرْضِ

repeated commotions, the day of raising the dead, the day of

يَوْمَ يَقُوْمُ النَّاسُ لِرَبِّ الْعَالَمِيْنَ

exposition before the Fire, the day when all mankind stand

يَوْمَ يَفِرُّ الْمَرْءُ مِنْ اَخِيْهِ

before the Lord of the Worlds, the day when a man flees from

وَ أُمَّهِ وَ اَبِيْهِ

his brother, his mother, his father, his wife, and his children,

وَ صَاحِبَتِهِ وَ بَنِيْهِ

يَؤْمَ تَشَقَقُ الْاَرْضُ وَ اَكْنَافُ السَّمَآءِ

the day when the earth and the sides of the heavens will split

يَوْمَ تَأْتِي كُلَّ نَفْس تُجَادِلُ عَنْ نَفْسِهَ

asunder, the day when every soul will come pleading for

يَوْمَ يُرَدُّوْنَ إِلَى اللهِ فَيُنَبَّثُهُمْ بِمَا عَمِلُوا

itself, the day when they will be relegated to Allah Who will

يَوْمَ لَا يُغْنِي مَوْلَى عَنْ مَؤْلَى شَيْئًا

inform them of what they did, the day when a friend can in

وَ لَا هُمْ يُنْصَرُوْنَ،

naught avail his friend nor can they be helped save him on

اِلَّا مَنْ رَجِمَ اللَّه

اِنَّهُ هُوَ الْعَزِيْزُ الرَّحِيْمُ

whom Allah will have mercy. Lo! He is the Mighty, the

يَوْمَ يُرَدُّوْنَ اِلَى عَالِمِ الْغَيْبِ وَ الشَّهَادَةِ

Merciful, the day when they will be returned to the Knower of

يَوْمَ يُرَدُّوْنَ اِلَى اللهِ مَؤْلَاهُمُ الْحَقُّ

the invisible and the visible, the day when they will be

يَوْمَ يَخْرُجُوْنَ مِنَ الْاَجْدَاثِ سِرَاعًا

restored to Allah, their Lord, the Just, the day when they

كَاَنَّهُمْ إِلَى نُصُبِ يُوْفِضُوْنَ

come forth from the graves in haste, as racing to a goal and

وَ كَآنَّهُمْ جَرَادٌ مُنْتَشِرْ

as locusts spreading abroad, hastening toward the

مُهْطِعِيْنَ إِلَى الدَّاعِي

اِلَى اللهِ

يَوْمَ الْوَاقِعَةِ

Summoner- to Allah, the day of the event inevitable when

يَوْمَ تُرَجُ الْاَرْضُ رَجَّا

يَوْمَ تَكُوْنُ السَّمَاءُ كَالْمُهْلِ

the earth will be shaken with a shock, the day when the sky

وَ تَكُوْنُ الْجِبَالَ كَالْعِهْنِ

will become as molten copper and the hills become as flakes

وَ لَا يُسْاَلُ حَمِيْمٌ حَمِيْمًا

of wool and no familiar friend will ask a question of his

يَوْمَ الشَّاهِدِ وَ الْمَشْهُوْدِ

friend, the day of the witness and that whereunto he bears

يَوْمَ تَكُوْنُ الْمَلَائِكَةُ صَفًّا صَفًّا

testimony, and they day when the angels will come rank on rank. O Allah, (please do) have mercy upon my situation on

اَللَّهُمَّ ازْحَمْ مَوْقِفِي فِيْ ذَلِكَ الْيَوْمِ بِمَوْقِفِي فِيْ هَذَا الْيَوْمِ

that day (when I will be stopped for interrogation) for my

وَ لَا تُخْزِني فِيْ ذَلِكَ الْمَوْقِفِ بِمَا جَنَيْتُ عَلَى نَفْسِيْ

current situation, and do not confound me at that situation for the wrongdoings that I have committed against myself. 0

وَ اجْعَلْ يَا رَبِّ فِيْ ذَلِكَ الْيَوْمِ مَعَ آَوْلِيَآئِكَ مُنطَلَقِيْ

my Lord, (please do) group me, on that day, with Your intimate servants, include me with the company of

وَ فِي زُمْرَةِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ اَهْلِ بَيْتِهِ عَلَيْهِمُ السَّلَامُ مَحْشَرِيْ

Muhammad and his Household-peace be upon them-

وَ اجْعَل حَوْضَهُ مَؤْرِدِيْ،

make the Pond of him (i.e. the Holy Prophet) to be my arrival

وَ فِي الْغُرِّ الْكِرَامِ مَصْدَرِيْ

point, make me a place among the honorable, white-forehead

وَ اَغْطِنِي كِتَابِيْ بِيَمِيْنِي

group, and give me my Record (of deeds) in my right hand so

حَثَّى اَفُوْزَ بِحَسَنَاتِيْ

that I will succeed due to my rewards, You will make my face

وَ تُبَيِّضَ بِهِ وَجْهِيْ

white, You will make easy for me my reckoning, You will

وَ تَيَسِّرَ بِهِ حِسَابِيْ

وَ تُرَجِّحَ بِهِ مِيْزَانِيْ

وَ آَمْضِيَ مَعَ الْفَائِزِيْنَ

make my pan of the Scale (of deeds) outweigh, and I will join

مِنْ عِبَادِكَ الصَّالِحِيْنَ

the triumphant ones among Your righteous servants to Your

إِلى رِضْوَانِكَ وَ جِنَانِكَ

اِلَهَ الْعَالَمِيْنَ

Pleasure and gardens of Paradise. O God of the Worlds! o

اَللّهُمّ اِنَّيّ اَعْوْذُ بِكَ مِنْ اَنْ تَفْضَحَنِن فِيْ ذَلِكَ الْيَوْمِ

Allah, I do seek Your protection lest You may expose me on

بَيْنَ يَدَي الْخَلَائِقِ بِجَرِيْرَتِيْ

that day in the presence of Your creatures because of my

آَوْ آَنْ اَلْقَى الْخِزْيَ وَ النَّدَامَةَ بِخَطِيّئَتِيْ

sins, or I may encounter disgrace and regret due to my

آَوْ آَنْ تُظْهِرَ فِيْهِ سَيِّئَاتِي عَلَى حَسَنَاتِيْ

wrongdoings, or You may make my evildoings outweigh my

أَوْ اَنْ تُنَوِّهَ بَيْنَ الْخَلَائِقِ بِاسمِيْ

good deeds, or You may declare my name as loser amongst

يَا كَرِيْمُ يَا كَرِيْمُ

Your creatures. O All-generous, O All-generous, (l beg You

الْعَفْوَ الْعَفْوَ

for) pardon, (l beg You for) pardon, (I beg You for) covering

السَّثْرَ السَّثْرَ.

(my evildoings), (l beg You for) covering (my evildoings). 0

اَللَّهمَ وَ اَعْوْذُ بِكَ مِنْ أَنْ يَكُوْنَ فِيْ ذَلِكَ الْيَوْمِ

Allah, l also seek Your protection against including me, on

فِي مَوَاقِفِ الْاَشْرَارِ مَؤْقِفِيْ

اَوْ فِيْ مَقَامِ الْاَشْقِيَاءِ مَقَامِيْ

that day, with the line of the evils or add me to the row of the

وَ اِذَا مَيَّزْتَ بَيْنَ خَلَقِكَ

wretched ones. When You shall distinguish between Your

فَسُقْتَ كَلَّا بِآَعْمَالِهِمْ

creatures and drive each group -according to their deeds-to

زُمَرًا إِلَى مَنَازِلِهِمْ

their final abodes in groups, (please do) line me up, in the

فَسُقْنِيْ بِرَحْمَتِكَ فِيْ عِبَادِكَ الصَالِحِيْنَ

name of Your mercy, with the group of Your righteous

وَ فِي زُمْرَةِ اَوْلِيَآئِكَ الْمُتَقِيْنَ

servants, and drive me with the group of the Your pious,

اِلْى جَنَّاتِكَ يَا رَبَّ الْعَالَمِيْنَ.

intimate servants to the gardens of Your Paradise, O Lord of the Worlds!

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا رَسُوْلَ اللهِ

Peace be upon you, O Messenger of Allah. Peace be upon

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ آَيُّهَا الْبَشِيْرُ النَّذِيْرُ

you, O conveyor of good tidings (to the believers) and warner

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ آَيُّهَا السِّرَاجُ الْمُنِيْرُ

(against Allah's chastisement). Peace be upon you, O light-

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ آَيُّهَا السَّفِيْرُ بَيْنَ اللهِ وَ بَيْنَ خَلْقِهِ

giving torch. Peace be upon you, O intercessor between Allah

اَشْهَدُ يَا رَسُوْلَ اللهِ اَنَّكَ كُنْتَ نُوْرًا فِي الْاَضلَابِ الشَّامِخَةِ

and His creatures. I bear witness, O Messenger of Allah, that

وَ الْارْحَامِ الْمُطَهَّرَةِ

You were light in the lofty loins and purified wombs. The

لَمْ تُنَجَّسْكَ الْجَاهِلِيَّةُ بِانْجَاسِهَا

ignorance could not stain you with its impurities or dress you

وَ لَمْ تُلْبِسْكَ مِنْ مُدْلَهِمَاتِ ثِيَابِهَا

وَ اَشْهَدُ يَا رَسُوْلَ اللهِ أَنَّي مُؤْمِنْ بِكَ

its gloomy garbs. I also bear witness, O Messenger of Allah,

وَ بِالْاَئِمَّةِ مِنْ اهْلِ بَيْتِكَ

that I have faith in you and in the Imams from your

مُؤْقِنٌ بِجَمِيْعِ مَا أَتَيْتَ بِهِ

Household, and I believe in all that which you have brought,

رَاضِ مُؤْمِنٌ

satisfactorily and faithfully. And I bear witness that the

وَ اَشْهَدُ اَنَّ الْاَئِمَّةَ مِنْ اَهْلِ بَيْتِكَ اَعْلَامُ الْهُذْى

Imams from your Household are the signs of (true) guidance,

وَ الْعُرْوَةُ الْوُثْقَى

the Firmest Handle, and the arguments against the

وَ الْحَجَةُ عَلَى اَهْلِ الدُّنْيَا

inhabitants in this world. O Allah, (please) do not make it the

اَللَّهُمَّ لَا تَجْعَلْهُ أخِرَ الْعَهْدِ مِنْ زِيَارَة نَبِيِّكَ

last of my pilgrimage to (the tomb of) Your Prophet-peace be

عَلَيْهِ وَ الِهِ السَّلَامُ،

upon him and his Household. If you decide to grasp my soul,

وَ اِنْ تَوَفّيْتَنِي فَاِنَّيَ اَشْهَدُ فِيْ مَمَاتِيْ

عَلَى مَآ اَشْهَدُ عَلَيْهِ فِيْ حَيَاتِيّ

I will bear witness in my death, as same as l have born

اَنَّكَ اَنْتَ اللهُ لَا اِلْهَ اِلَّا اَنْتَ

witness in my lifetime, that Your are verily Allah; there is no

وَحَدَكَ لَا شَرِيْكَ لَكَ

god save You, alone without having any associate, that

وَ اَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُكَ وَ رَسُوْلَكَ

Muhammad is Your servant and Messenger, and that the

وَ اَنَّ الاَئِمَّةَ مِنْ اَهْل بَيْتِهِ اَوْلِيَاؤُكَ وَ أَنْصَارُكَ

Imams from his Household are Your intimate servants, Your

وَ حُجَجُكَ عَلْى خَلْقِكَ

supporters, Your Arguments against Your creatures, Your

وَ خُلَفَاؤُكَ فِيْ عِبَادِكَ

وَ اَعْلَامُكَ فِي بِلَادِكَ

representatives amongst Your servants, Your sings in Your

وَ خُزَّانُ عِلْمِكَ

lands, the custodians of Your knowledge, the keepers of Your

وَ حَفَظَةُ سِرِّكَ

secret, and the interpreters of Your Revelation. O Allah,

وَ تَرَاجِمَةُ وَخِيِكَ

اَللَّهُمَّ صَلَّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ الِ مُحَمَّدٍ

(please do) send blessings upon Muhammad and the

وَ بَلَغْ رُوحَ نَبِيِّكَ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ ألِهِ

Household of Muhammad and convey to the souls of Your

فِيْ سَاعَتِيْ هَذِهِ وَ فِيْ كُلِّ سَاعَةٍ

Prophet, Muhammad, and his Household, at this very hour as

تَحِيَّةُ مِنِّيْ وَ سَلَامًا

well as all times, greetings and compliments from me. 0

وَ السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا رَسُوْلَ اللهِ وَ رَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَ بَرَكَاتُهُ

Messenger of Allah, peace and Allah's mercy and blessings

لَا جَعَلَهُ اللهُ أَخِرَ تَسْلِيْمِي عَلَيْكَ.

be upon you. Allah may not decide this compliment of me to be the last.
