Virtues, description, and recitation method of THIRD ZIYARAH as recorded in Shia traditions.
اِنَّا للهِ وَ اِنَّا اِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُوْنَ
Ithen said to him, "O master! May l inform our acquaintances in al-Kufah about this and lead them to this tomb?" The Imam ('a) answered in the affirmative and gave me a sum of money to construct the tomb. saying, To Allah we belong and to Him is our return. Peace be upon
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ آَيُّهَا الْوَصِيُّ الْبَرُّ التَّقِيُّ
you, O successor (of the Prophet), righteous, and pious.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ آَيُّهَا النَّبَأُ الْعَظِيْمُ
Peace be upon you, O Great News. Peace be upon you, 0
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ أَيُّهَا الصِّدِّيْقُ الرَّشِيْدُ
veracious and rightdirecting one. Peace be upon you, 0
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ آَيُّهَا الْبَرُّ الذَّكِيُّ
righteous and pure. Peace be upon you, O Successor of the
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَصِيَّ رَسُوْلِ رَبَّ الْعَالَمِيْنَ
Messenger of the Lord of the worlds. Peace be upon you, 0
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا خِيَرَةَ اللهِ عَلَى الْخَلْقِ اَجْمَعِيْنَ
choice of Allah over all creatures. l bear witness that you are
اَشْهَدُ أَنَّكَ حَبِيْبُ اللهِ وَ خَاضَّةُ اللهِ وَ خَالِصَّتُهُ
verily Allah's beloved, elite, and select. Peace be upon you, 0
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَلِيَّ اللهِ وَ مَوْضِعَ سِرِّهِ
intimate servant of Allah, center of His secrets, store of His
وَ عَيْبَةَ عِلَمِهِ وَ خَازِنَ وَحْبِهِ
knowledge, and keeper of His Revelation. May Allah accept my father and mother as ransoms for you,
بِآَبِيْ آَنْتَ وَ أُمِّي يَا آَمِيْرَ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ
O Commander of the Faithful! May Allah accept my father
بِاَبِي اَنْتَ وَ أَمِّي يَا حُجَةَ الْخِصَامِ
and mother as ransoms for you, O argument in controversies! May Allah accept my father and mother as
بِآَبِيْ آَنْتَ وَ أَمِّيْ يَا بَابَ الْمَقَامِ
ransoms for you, O door to the (elevated) position! May Allah
بِآَبِي أَنْتَ وَ أَمَّيْ يَا نُوْرَ اللهِ التَّآمَّ
accept my father and mother as ransoms for you, O utter
اَشْهَدُ اَنَّكَ قَدْ بَلّغْتَ عَنِ اللهِ
light of Allah! I bear witness that you have conveyed all that
وَ عَنْ رَسُوْل اللهِ
which you were ordered to convey from Allah and from
صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ ألِهِ مَا حُمَّلْتَ
Allah's Messenger, may Allah's peace be upon him and his
وَ رَعَيْتَ مَا اسْتُحفِظْتَ
وَ حَفِظْتَ مَا اسْتُوْدِعْتَ
Household, attended to that which was kept with you, kept
وَ حَلَّلْتَ حَلَالَ اللهِ
that which was stored with you, decided as lawful all that
وَ حَرَّمْتَ حَرَامَ اللهِ
which Allah has deemed lawful, decided as unlawful all that
وَ اَقْمْتَ اَحْكَامَ اللهِ
which Allah has deemed unlawful, carried out the decrees of
وَ لَمْ تَتَعَدَّ حُدُوْدَ اللهِ
Allah, never exceeded the limits of Allah, and worshipped
وَ عَبَدْتَ اللهَ مُخْلِصًا
حَثَّى آَنَاكَ الْيَقِيْنُ
صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْكَ
Allah sincerely until death came upon you. May Allah send
وَ عَلَى الاَئْمَّةِ مِنْ بَعْدِكَ.
blessings upon you and upon the lmams who came after you!
يَا جَدَّاهُ يَا سَيِّدَاهُ
يَا طَيِّبَاهُ يَا طَاهِرَاهُ
O grandfather! O master! O pure! O infallible! May Allah not
لَا جَعَلَهُ اللهُ أَخِرَ الْعَهْدِ مِنْكَ
cause this (visit of mine) to be the last of my compliments to
وَ رَزَقْنِي العَوْدَ اِليْكَ
you. May He grant me the opportunity to visit you again, to
وَ الْمَقَامَ فِيْ حَرَمِكَ
وَ الكَوْنَ مَعَكَ
reside at your holy shrine, and to be included with you and
وَ مَعَ الْاَبْرَارِ مِنْ وُلَدِكَ
with the righteous ones among your sons! May Allah send
صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْكَ
وَ عَلَى الْمَلَائِكَةِ الْمُحْدِقِيْنَ بِكَ
blessings upon you and upon the angels surrounding you! I then said to him, "O master! May l inform our acquaintances in alkufah about this and lead them to this tomb?' The Imam ('a) answered in the affirmative and gave me a sum of money to construct the tomb.
