Virtues, description, and recitation method of ETIQUETTES OF JOURNEY as recorded in Shia traditions.
مِنْ شَرَفِ الْإِنْسَانِ فِي الْاَسْفَارِ
It is honorable for a man going on a journey To carry with
تَظْيِيْبُهُ الزَّادَ مَعَ الْإِكْثَارِ
him much and sweet food One should behave morally during
وَ لْيَخْسُنِ الْإِنْسَانُ فِيْ حَالِ السَّفَرِ
آَخْلَاقَهُ زِيَادَةً عَلَى الْحَضَرِ
travel More than being at his home When he prepares food
وَ لَيَدْعُ عِنْدَ الْوَضْعِ لِلْخِوَانِ
مَنْ كَانَ حَاضِرًا مِنَ الْإِحْوَانِ
وَ لَيُكْثِرِ الْمَزْحَ مَعَ الصَّحْبِ إِذَا
He should invite his companions He should exchange jokes
لَمْ يُسْخِطِ اللهَ وَ لَمْ يَجْلِبْ اَذِى
with his companions If he does not violate Allah,s orders or
مَنْ جَاءَ بَلْدَةً فَذَا ضَيْفٌ عَلَى
injure others One who visits a town is the guest Of his
اِخْوَانِهِ فِيْهَا اِلْى اَنْ يَرْحَلَا
brethren until he leaves He is treated generously for two
يُبَرُ لَيْلَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ لْيَأْكُلِ
nights And then he may eat from their food.
مِنْ آَكْلِ اَهْلِ الْبَيْتِ فِيْ الْمُسْتَقْبِلِ
سُبْحَانَ اللّهِ
وَ الحَمْدُ للّهُ
وَ لَاَ اِلْهَ اِلَّا اللَهُ
All glory be to Allah, all praise be to Allah, there is no god
وَ اللهُ اَكْبَرُ
save Allah, and Allah is the Most Great.
