Virtues, description, and recitation method of ASKING PERMISSION FOR ENTERING THE HOLY SHRINES as recorded in Shia traditions.

اَللَّهُمَّ إِنَّيْ وَقَفْتُ عَلَى بَابٍ

O Allah, I am standing at one of the doors of Your Prophet's

مِنْ اَبْوَابِ بُيُوْتِ نَبِيِّكَ

صَلَوَاتُكَ عَلَيْهِ وَ الِهِ

Houses- may Your blessings be upon him and his

وَ قَدْ مَنَعْتَ النَّاسَ اَنْ يَدْخُلُوًا اِلَّا بِإِذْنِهِ

Household. And You have prevented people to enter there

فَقُلْتَ يَآ آَيُّهَا الَّذِيْنَ امَنُوْا

before they obtain his permission. You have thus said, "O ye

لَا تَدْخُلُوا بُيُوْتَ النَّبِيَّ اِلَّا آَنْ يُؤْذَنَ لَكُمْ

Who believe! Enter not the Prophet's houses until leave is

اَللّهُمَّ إِنَّيَّ اَعْتَقِدُ حَرْمَةَ صَاحِبُ هَذَا الْمَشْهَدِ الشَّرِيْفِ فِي غَيْبَتِهِ

given you." O Allah, I believe in the sanctity of the owner of

كَمَا اَعْتَقِدُهَا فِيْ حَضْرَتِهِ

this holy shrine in his absence as same as I believe in it in his

وَ اغْلَمْ آَنَّ رَسُوْلَكَ وَ خَلَفَاءَكَ عَلَيْهِمُ السَّلَامُ

presence. I also know for sure that Your Messenger and Your

آَخيَآءُ عِنْدَكَ يُرْزَقْوْنَ

Representatives- peace be upon them- are live, finding

يَرَوْنَ مَقَامِيْ

their sustenance in the presence of You; they can see my

وَ يَسْمَعُوْنَ كَلَامِيْ

place, hear my words, and respond to my greetings, but You

وَ يَرُدُّوْنَ سَلامِيْ

وَ أَنَّكَ حَجَبْتَ عَنْ سَمْعِيْ كَلَامَهُمْ

have prevented my hearing from receiving their words and

وَ فَتَحْتَ بَابَ فَهْمِيْ بِلَذِيْذِ مُنَاجَاتِهِمْ

You have opened the door of my understanding to taste the fine flavor of my confidential speech with them. I thus ask

وَ اِنَّيّ اَسْتَأْذِنُكَ يَا رَبِّ اَوَّلًا

Your permission-O my Lord-first of all, the permission of

وَ اَسْتَأْذِنُ رَسُوْلَكَ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ الِهِ ثَانِيًا

Your Prophet-peace be upon him and his Household-

وَ اَسْتَأْذِنُ خَلِيْفَتَكَ الْاِمَامَ

secondly, the permission of Your Representative, the Imam

الْمَفْرُوْضَ عَلَيَّ طَاعَتُهُ

the obedience to whom is incumbent upon me...

وَ الْمَلَائِكَةَ الْمُوَكِّلِيْنَ بِهْذِهِ الْبُقْعَةِ الْمُبَارَكَةِ ثَالِثًا

...and the permission of the angels whom are commissioned

اَاَذْخُلَ يَا رَسُوْلَ اللّهِ

to supervise this blessed area, thirdly. May l enter, 0

اَآَذْخُلَ يَا حُجَةَ اللَّهِ

Messenger of Allah? May I enter, O Argument of Allah? May 1

اَاَدْخُلُ يَا مَلَائِكَةَ اللهِ الْمُقَرَّبِيْنَ

enter, O angels of Allah-the intimate, the residing in this

الْمُقِيْمِيْنَ فِيْ هَذَا الْمَشْهَدِ

فَأَذَنْ لِي يَا مَؤْلَايَ فِي الدُّخُوْلِ

shrine? So, (please do) permit me to enter, O my Master, in

اَفْضَلَ مَآ آَذِنْتَ لِاَحَدٍ مِنْ اَوْلِيَآئِكَ

the best way of permission that you have ever conferred

فَاِنْ لَمْ اَكُنْ اَهْلَا لِذَلِكَ

upon any of your intimate adherents. If | do not deserve such

فَاَنْتَ آَهْلّ لِذلِكَ

permission, then you are worthy of conterring it upon me.

بِسْمِ اللهِ وَ بِاللهِ

In the Name of Allah (l begin), in Allah (I trust), on the way of

وَ فِيْ سَبِيْلِ اللهِ

وَ عَلَى مِلَّةٍ رَسُوْلِ اللهِ

Allah (I proceed), and on the norm of the Messenger of Allah,

صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ أَلِهِ

may Allah bless him and his Household. O Allah, (please do)

اَللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِيْ

forgive me, have mercy upon me, and accept my repentance,

وَ ازحَمْنِي وَ ثُبِ عَلَيَّ

اِنَّكَ أَنْتَ التَّوَّابُ الرَّحِيْمُ

for You are verily the Oft-Returning, the All-Merciful.
