Virtues, description, and recitation method of ETIQUETTES OF THE SUNSET (MAGHRIB) PRAYERS as recorded in Shia traditions.
اَللّهُمَّ اِنَّى اسْئَلُكَ بِاِقْبَالِ لَيْلِكَ
It is highly advisable to offer the Ghufaylah Prayer (whose merits and method have been mentioned in the book of Mafatih al-Jinan) thereafter. O Allah, l beseech You in the name of the coming of Your night,
وَاِذْبَارِ نَهارِكَ
the departure of Your daylight,
وَحُضُوْرٍ صَلَوَاتِكَ
the presence of Your prayers,
وَاَضوَاتِ دُعَائِكَ
the voices of Your supplicants,
وَتَسْبِيْحِ مَلَائِكَتِكَ
and the glorification of Your angels,
آَنْ تُصَلِّى عَلَى مُحَمَّدِ وَال مُحَمَّدٍ
to send blessings upon Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad
وَاَنْ تَتُوْبَ عَلَىَّ
and to accept my repentance.
اِنَّكَ أَنْتَ التَوَابُ الرَّحِيْمُ.
You are verily, the Oft-Returning, the Most Merciful.
إِنَّ اللهَ وَمَلَائِكَتَهُ يُصَلُّوْنَ عَلَى النَّبِىِّ
Surely, Allah and His angels bless the Prophet;
يَآ آَيُّهَا الَّذِيْنَ اَمَنُوْا
O you who believe,
صَلُّوا عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمُوا تَسْلِيْمًا
call for blessings on him and salute him with a becoming salutation.
اَللَّهُمَّ صَلَّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدِ النَّبِىِّ
O Allah, (please) bless Muhammad the Prophet,
وَعَلَى ذُرِّيَّتِهِ وَعَلَى اَهْلِ بَيْتِهِ.
his offspring, and his Household.
بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمْنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the Name of Allah; the All-beneficent, the All-merciful
وَلَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ اِلَّا بِاللهِ الْعَلِيَّ الْعَظِيمِ.
There is neither might nor power except with Allah, the All- high, the All-great.
اَلْحَمْدُ للهِ الَذِي يَفْعَلُ مَا يَشآءُ
All praise be to Allah Who does whatever He wishes
وَلَا يَفْعَلُ مَا يَشآَءُ غَيْرُهُ.
and no one else can do whatever one wishes.
سُبْحَانَكَ لَا اِلْهَ اِلَّا أَنْتَ
All glory be to You. There is no god save You.
اِغْفِزْ لِى ذُ نُوْبِى جَمِيْعًا
(Please) forgive me all of my sins,
فَاِنَّهُ لَا يَغْفِرُ الذَّنُوْبَ كُلِّهَا جَمِيْعًا اِلَّا أَنْتَ.
because none can forgive all sins altogether save You.
شُكْرًا شُكْرًا شُكْرًا
لَا إِلْهَ إِلَّا هُوَ
Thanks, thanks, thanks.
بِسْمِ اللَهِ الَّذِيْ
In the Name of Allah save Whom there is no god,
عَالِمُ الغَيْبِ وَ الشَّهَادَةِ
the Knower of the unseen and the seen,
الرَّحمْنِ الرَّحِيْمُ
the All-beneficent, and the All-merciful.
اَللَّهُمَّ اَذْهِبْ عَنِّىَ الْهَمَّ وَ الْحَزَنَ.
O Allah, (please) take away from me grief and distress. It is highly advisable to offer the Ghufaylah Prayer (whose merits and method have been mentioned in the book of Mafatih al-Jinan) thereafter.
