Instructions
اَلتَّعْقِيْبَاتُ بَعْدَ صَلَاةِ الْفَجْرِ كَمَا نُقِلَ عَنْ مِصْبَاحِ الْمُتَهَجِّدِ
Subsequent to the dawn (fajr) prayer, say the following supplicatory prayer, as quoted from Misbah al-Mutahajjid.
Baada ya swala ya alfajiri (fajr), soma dua ifuatayo kama ilivyonukuliwa kutoka katika kitabu Misbah al-Mutahajjid.
اَللّهُمَّ صَلَّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ الِ مُحَمَّدٍ
Allāhumma ṣalla ʿalā muḥammadin wa ali muḥammadin
O Allah, send blessings to Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad
Ee Mwenyezi Mungu, mteremshie rehema Muhammad na Aali ya Muhammad
وَ اهْدِنِيْ لِمَا اخْتَلِفَ فِيْهِ مِنَ الْحَقَّ بِإِذَنِكَ
Wa ahdinī limā akhtalifa fīhi mina al-ḥaqqa biʾidhanika
and guide me, by Your permission, to the right about which discrepancies have taken place.
na uniongoze, kwa idhini Yako, kwenye haki ile ambayo kumetokea hitilafu ndani yake.
اِنَّكَ تَهْدِيْ مَنْ تَشَاءُ إِلَى صِرَاطٍ مُسْتَقِيْمِ.
Innaka tahdī man tashāʾu ʾilā ṣirāṭin mustaqīmi.
Verily, You guide him whom You wish to a straight path.
Hakika Wewe humuongoza umtakaye kwenye njia iliyonyooka.
اَللَهُمَّ صَلَّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ الِ مُحَمَّدٍ اِلاوْ صِيَاءِ الرَّاضِيْنَ الْمَرْضِيِّيْنَ بِاَفْضَلِ صَلَوَاتِكَ
Allāhumma ṣalla ʿalā muḥammadin wa ali muḥammadin al-āw ṣiyāʾi ar-rāḍīna al-marḍiyyīna biāfḍali ṣalawātika
O Allah, bless Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad, the consenting and pleased Successors, with the best of Your blessings,
Ee Mwenyezi Mungu, mteremshie rehema Muhammad na Aali ya Muhammad, Mawasii (warithi) walioridhika na walioridhiwa, kwa rehema Zako bora kabisa,
وَ بَارِكُ عَلَيْهِمْ بِاَفْضَلِ بَرَكَاتِكَ
Wa bāriku ʿalayhim biāfḍali barakātika
and confer upon them the best of your favors.
na uwape wao baraka Zako bora kabisa.
وَ السَّلَامُ عَلَيْهِمْ وَ عَلَى أَرْوَاجِهِمْ وَ آَجْسَادِهِمْ
Wa as-salāmu ʿalayhim wa ʿalā ʾarwājihim wa ājsādihim
Peace be upon them and their souls and bodies.
Amani iwe juu yao na juu ya roho zao na miili yao.
وَ رَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَ بَرَكَاتُهُ
Wa raḥmatu Allāhi wa barakātuhu
Allah's mercy and blessings be upon them.
Rehema za Mwenyezi Mungu na baraka Zake ziwafikie wao.
اللَّهُمَّ آَخِيِنِيْ عَلَى مَا اخيَيْتَ عَلَيْهِ عَلِيَّ بْنَ اَبِي طَالِبِ
Allāhumma ākhiyinī ʿalā mā akhyayta ʿalayhi ʿaliyya bna abī ṭālibi
O Allah, please make me live carrying the conducts on which You made 'Ali the son of Abu-Talib live
Ee Mwenyezi Mungu, nijaalie niishi katika misingi uliyomfanya Ali bin Abi Talib aishi kwayo
وَ آَمِثْنِي عَلَى مَا مَاتَ عَلَيْهِ عَلِيُ بَنْ أَبِي طَالِبِ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامْ.
Wa āmithnī ʿalā mā māta ʿalayhi ʿaliyu ban ʾabī ṭālibi ʿalayhi as-salām.
and make me die on the principles for which 'Ali the son of Abu-Talib-peace be upon him-died.
na nijaalie nife katika misingi ambayo Ali bin Abi Talib (amani iwe juu yake) alifia kwayo.
اَسْتَغْفِرُ اللهَ وَ اَتُوْبُ اِلَيْهِ
Astaghfiru Allāha wa atūbu al-yhi
I pray the forgiveness of Allah and I repent before Him.
Namuomba Mwenyezi Mungu msamaha na natubia Kwake.
اَسَاَلُ اللّهَ الْعَافِيَةَ
Asālu Allāha al-ʿāfiyata
I beseech Allah for good health.
Namuomba Mwenyezi Mungu afya njema.
اَسْتَجِيْرُ بِاللهِ مِنَ النَّارِ
Astajīru biāllhi mina an-nāri
I seek Allah's protection against Hellfire.
Najikinga kwa Mwenyezi Mungu kutokana na moto wa Jahannam.
وَ اَسْاَلُهُ الْجَنَّةَ
Wa asāluhu al-jannata
I ask Him for Paradise.
Namuomba Yeye Pepo.
اَسْاَلُ اللّٰهَ الْحُوْرَ الْعِيْنَ.
Asālu Allāha al-ḥūra al-ʿīna.
I ask Allah for the Paradisiacal Women.
Namuomba Mwenyezi Mungu mahuril-aini (wanawake wa Peponi).
لَا اِلَهَ اِلَا اللهُ الْمَلِكُ الْحَقُّ الْمُبِيْنُ
Lā al-ha al-ā Allāhu al-maliku al-ḥaqqu al-mubīnu
There is no god save Allah the King and evident Truth.
Hakuna mungu ila Mwenyezi Mungu, Mfalme, Haki iliyo dhahiri.
سُبْحَانَ اللهِ وَ الْحَمْدُ للهِ وَ لَا إِلْهَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَ اللهُ اَكْبَرُ
Subḥāna Allāhi wa al-ḥamdu lillāhi wa lā ʾilha ʾillā Allāhu wa Allāhu akbaru
All glory be to Allah, all praise be to Allah, there is no god save Allah, Allah is the Greatest,
Utukufu ni wa Mwenyezi Mungu, na sifa njema ni za Mwenyezi Mungu, na hakuna mungu ila Mwenyezi Mungu, na Mwenyezi Mungu ni Mkuu zaidi,
وَ لَا حَوْلَ وَ لَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللهِ الْعَلِيَّ الْعَظِيْمِ
Wa lā ḥawla wa lā quwwata ʾillā biāllhi al-ʿaliyya al-ʿaẓīmi
and there is neither might nor power save with Allah, the All-high and All-great.
na hakuna uwezo wala nguvu isipokuwa kwa Mwenyezi Mungu, Aliye Juu, Aliye Mkuu.
لَا اِلَهَ اِلَّا اللهُ الْمَلِكُ الْحَقُّ الْمُبِيْنُ
Lā al-ha al-ā Allāhu al-maliku al-ḥaqqu al-mubīnu
There is no god save Allah the King and evident Truth.
There is no god save Mwenyezi Mungu the King and evident Truth.
صَلَّى اللهُ عَلى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ ألِ مُحَمَّدٍ سُبْحَانَ اللهِ
Ṣallā Allāhu ʿalā muḥammadin wa ʾli muḥammadin subḥāna Allāhi
May Allah send blessings to Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad.
May Mwenyezi Mungu telemesha rehema kwa Muhammad na Aali za Muhammad.
وَ الْحَمْدُ للهِ
Wa al-ḥamdu lillāhi
All glory be to Allah, all praise be to Allah, there is no god save Allah,
All glory be to Mwenyezi Mungu, all praise be to Mwenyezi Mungu, there is no god save Mwenyezi Mungu,
وَلَا إِلْهَ اِلَّا اللهُ وَ اللهُ اَكْبَرُ
Walā ʾilha al-ā Allāhu wa Allāhu akbaru
Allah is the Greatest, and there is neither might nor power save with Allah, the All- high and All-great.
Mwenyezi Mungu is the Greatest, and there is neither might nor power save with Mwenyezi Mungu, the All- high and All-great.
وَ لَا حَوْلَ وَ لَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللهِ الْعَلِيَّ الْعَظِيْمِ.
Wa lā ḥawla wa lā quwwata ʾillā biāllhi al-ʿaliyya al-ʿaẓīmi.
Only that which Allah wills shall come to pass and there is neither might nor power save with Allah, the All-high and All-great.
Only that which Mwenyezi Mungu wills shall come to pass and there is neither might nor power save with Mwenyezi Mungu, the All-high and All-great.
مَا شَآءَ اللهُ كَانَ وَ لَا حَوْلَ وَ لَا قُوَةَ اِلَا بِاللهِ الْعَلِيَّ الْعَظِيمِ. اَضبَحْتُ اَللّهُمَّ مُعْتَصِمَا بِذِمَامِكَ الْمَنِيعِ
Mā shaʾāʾa Allāhu kāna wa lā ḥawla wa lā quwata al-ā biāllhi al-ʿaliyya al-ʿaẓīmi. Aḍbaḥtu Allāhumma muʿtaṣimā bidhimāmika al-manīʿi
O Allah, I have begun this morning seeking refuge with Your invulnerable security that is neither touched nor caught against the evil of all oppressive and domineering ones from among all Your animate and inanimate creatures both the silent and the speaking;
Ewe Mwenyezi Mungu, I have begun this morning seeking refuge with Your invulnerable security that is neither touched nor caught against the evil of all oppressive and domineering ones from among all Your animate and inanimate creatures both the silent and the speaking;
الَذِيْ لَا يُطَاوَلُ وَ لَا يُحَاوَلُ
Adh-dhī lā yuṭāwalu wa lā yuḥāwalu
and being in protection against all terrifying things;
na being katika protection dhidi ya yote terrifying things;
مِنْ شَرِّ كُلِّ غَاشِمٍ وَ طَارِقٍ مِنْ سَائِرٍ مَنْ خَلَقْتَ وَ مَا خَلَقْتَ
Min sharri kulli ghāshimin wa ṭāriqin min sāʾirin man khalaqta wa mā khalaqta
and being in the complete garb of my loyalty to the Household of Your Prophet;
na being katika the complete garb wa wangu loyalty kwa the Household wa Your Prophet;
مِنْ خَلْقِكَ الصَّامِتِ وَ النَّاطِقِ فِي جُنَّةٍ مِنْ كُلِّ مَخُوْفِ
Min khalqika aṣ-ṣāmiti wa an-nāṭiqi fī junnatin min kulli makhūfi
and veiling myself against all those who intend harm to me, behind an impervious wall, which is my sincerity in the profession of their (Divinely commissioned) right (of leadership) and my adherence to their Rope, and bearing with certainty that the Right is theirs, with them, in them, and amid them.
na veiling myself dhidi ya yote those who intend harm kwa me, behind an impervious wall, which ni wangu sincerity katika the profession wa their (Divinely commissioned) right (wa leadership) na wangu adherence kwa their Rope, na bearing na certainty that the Right ni theirs, na them, katika them, na amid them.
بِلِبَاسِ سَابِغَةٍ
Bilibāsi sābighatin
I thus accede to those whom they accept and depart those whom they depart.
I thus accede kwa those whom they accept na depart those whom they depart.
وَلَاءِ اَهْل بَيْتِ نَبِيِّكَ مُختَجِبًا مِنْ كُلَّ قَاصِدٍ لِي إِلْى آَذِيَةٍ
Walāʾi ahl bayti nabiyyika mukhtajiban min kulla qāṣidin lī ʾilā ādhiyatin
O Allah, protect me, in the names of them, against the evil of all that which I fear, O All-great.
Ewe Mwenyezi Mungu, protect me, in the names of them, against the evil of all that which I fear, O All-great.
بِجِدَارٍ حَصِيْنٍ
Bijidārin ḥaṣīnin
I am restraining the enemies against me through the
I am restraining the enemies dhidi ya me through the
الْإِخْلَاص فِي الْاِعْتِرَافِ بِحَقِّهِمْ وَ التَّمَسُّكِ بِحَبْلِهِمْ
Al-ʾikhlāṣ fī al-āʿtirāfi biḥaqqihim wa at-tamassuki biḥablihim
Originator of the heavens and the earth;
Originator wa the heavens na the earth;
مُوْقِنًا اَنَّ الحَقَّ لَهُمْ وَ مَعَهُمْ
Mūqinan anna al-ḥaqqa lahum wa maʿahum
"And We have set a bar before them and a bar behind them, and (thus) have covered them so that they see not."
"And We have set a bar before them na a bar behind them, na (thus) have covered them so that they see not."
وَ فِيْهِمْ وَ بِهِمْ أُوَالِيْ مَنْ وَالَوْا
Wa fīhim wa bihim ʾuwālī man wālawā
All glory be to Allah, the All-great and in praise of Him;
All glory be to Mwenyezi Mungu, the All-great and in praise of Him;
وَ أَجَانِبُ مَنْ جَانَبُوْا فَاَعِذْنِي اَللّهُمَّ بِهِمْ
Wa ʾajānibu man jānabūā fāʿidhnī Allāhumma bihim
and there is neither might nor power save with Allah, the All- high and All-great.
and there is neither might nor power save with Mwenyezi Mungu, the All- high and All-great.
مِنْ شَرِّ كُلِّ مَا آَتَّقِيْهِ يَا عَظِيْمُ
Min sharri kulli mā āttaqīhi yā ʿaẓīmu
In the Name of Allah the All- compassionate, the All-merciful;
In the Name of Mwenyezi Mungu the All- compassionate, the All-merciful;
حَجَزْتُ الْاَعَادِيَ عَنَّي بِبَدِيْعِ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَ الْأَرْضِ اِنَّا جَعَلْنَا مِنْ بَيْنِ أَيْدِيْهِمْ سَدًّا
Ḥajaztu al-āʿādiya ʿannay bibadīʿi as-samāwāti wa al-ʾarḍi innā jaʿalnā min bayni ʾaydīhim saddan
there is neither might nor power save with Allah, the All-high and All-great.
there is neither might nor power save with Mwenyezi Mungu, the All-high and All-great.
وَ مِنْ خَلْفِهِمْ سَدًّا
Wa min khalfihim saddan
O Allah, I do beseech You, in the name of the right of Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad that is incumbent upon You to send blessings to Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad and to make light in my sight, discerning in my religion, conviction in my heart, sincerity in my deeds, safety in my self, richness in my sustenance, and perpetual thankfulness for You as long as you keep me alive.
Ewe Mwenyezi Mungu, I do beseech You, in the name of the right of Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad that is incumbent upon You to telemesha rehema kwa Muhammad na Aali za Muhammad and to make light in my sight, discerning in my religion, conviction in my heart, sincerity in my deeds, safety in my self, richness in my sustenance, and perpetual thankfulness for You as long as you keep me alive.
فَاَغْشَيْنَاهُمْ فَهُمْ لَا يُنْصِرُوْنَ - سُبْحَانَ اللّهِ الْعَظِيمِ وَ بِحَمْدِهِ
Fāghshaynāhum fahum lā yunṣirūna subḥāna Allāhi al-ʿaẓīmi wa biḥamdihi
Mmighty Allah against every thing that aggrieves him:
Mmighty Mwenyezi Mungu against every thing that aggrieves him:
وَلَا حَوْلَ وَ لَا قُوَةَ اِلَا بِاللهِ الْعَلِيَ الْعَظِيمِ
Walā ḥawla wa lā quwata al-ā biāllhi al-ʿaliya al-ʿaẓīmi
In the Name of Allah.
In the Name of Mwenyezi Mungu.
بِسْمِ اللّهِ الرَّحْمْنِ الرَّحِيْهِ لَا حَوْلَ وَ لَا قُوَةَ اِلَا بِاللهِ الْعَلِيِّ الْعَظِيمِ
Bismi Allāhi ar-Raḥmāni ar-raḥīhi lā ḥawla wa lā quwata al-ā biāllhi al-ʿaliyyi al-ʿaẓīmi
May Allah bless Muhammad and his Household.
May Mwenyezi Mungu mrehemu Muhammad na Aali zake.
اَللّهُمّ إِنَّي آسالُكَ بِحَقَّ مُحَمَّدٍ وَأَلِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَلَيْكَ صَلَّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ اَلِ مُحَمَّدٍ
Allāhumma ʾinnay āsāluka biḥaqqa muḥammadin waʾali muḥammadin ʿalayka ṣalla ʿalā muḥammadin wa ali muḥammadin
"I confide my cause unto Allah.
"I confide my cause unto Mwenyezi Mungu.
وَ اجْعَلِ النَّوْرَ فِي بَصَرِيْ
Wa ajʿali an-nawra fī baṣarī
Surely, Allah is Seer of His slaves.
Surely, Mwenyezi Mungu is Seer of His slaves.
وَ الْبَصِيْرَةَ فِي دِيْنِيْ وَ الْيَقِيْنَ فِي قَلْبِيْ
Wa al-baṣīrata fī dīnī wa al-yaqīna fī qalbī
So, Allah warded off from him the evils which they plotted."
So, Mwenyezi Mungu warded off from him the evils which they plotted."
وَ الْإِخْلَاص فِي عَمَلِيْ
Wa al-ʾikhlāṣ fī ʿamalī
"There is no god save You. Be You Glorified!
"Hakuna mungu isipokuwa Wewe. Utukufu ni Wako!
وَ السَّلَامَةَ فِي نَفْسِيْ وَ السَّعَةَ فِي رِزْقِي
Wa as-salāmata fī nafsī wa as-saʿata fī rizqī
Lo! I have been a wrongdoer.
Hakika mimi nilikuwa miongoni mwa waliojidhulumu.
وَ الشُّكْرَ لَكَ أَبَدًا مَا آَبْقَيْتَنِيْ
Wa ash-shukra laka ʾabadan mā ābqaytanī
Then, We heard his prayer and saved him from the anguish.
Basi tukamsikiliza maombi yake na tukamwokoa na dhiki.
بِسْمِ اللَهِ وَ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ الِهِ
Bismi Allāhi wa ṣallā Allāhu ʿalā muḥammadin wa al-hi
Thus do We save the believers."
Na hivi ndivyo tunavyowaokoa waumini."
وَ أَفَوّضُ اَمْرِيْ إِلَى اللهِ إِنَّ اللهَ بَصِيرٌ بِالْعِبَادِ
Wa ʾafawwḍu amrī ʾilā Allāhi ʾinna Allāha baṣīrun biālʿibādi
"Allah is Sufficient for us! Most Excellent is He in Whom we trust.
"Mwenyezi Mungu is Sufficient for us! Most Excellent is He in Whom we trust.
فَوَقَاهُ اللَهُ سَيِّئَاتٍ مَا مَكَرُوْا
Fawaqāhu Allāhu sayyiʾātin mā makarūā
So, they returned with grace and favor from Allah, and no harm touched them."
So, they returned with grace and favor from Mwenyezi Mungu, and no harm touched them."
لَا اِلَهَ اِلَّا آَنْتَ سُبْحَانَكَ إِنِّي كُنْتُ مِنَ الظَّالِمِيْنَ
Lā al-ha al-ā ānta subḥānaka ʾinnī kuntu mina aẓ-ẓālimīna
Only that which Allah wills shall come to pass.
Only that which Mwenyezi Mungu wills shall come to pass.
فَاسْتَجَبْنَا لَهُ وَ نَجَّيْنَاهُ مِنَ الْغَمِّ
Fāstajabnā lahu wa najjaynāhu mina al-ghammi
There is neither strength nor power save with Allah.
There is neither strength nor power save with Mwenyezi Mungu.
وَ كَذْلِكَ نُنْجِي الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ حَسْبُنَا اللهُ وَ نِعْمَ الْوَكِيْلَ
Wa kadhlika nunjī al-muʾminīna ḥasbunā Allāhu wa niʿma al-wakīla
Only that which Allah, but not people, wills shall come to pass.
Only that which Mwenyezi Mungu, but not people, wills shall come to pass.
فَانْقَلَبُوا بِنِعْمَةٍ مِنَ اللّهِ وَ فَضْل
Fānqalabūā biniʿmatin mina Allāhi wa faḍl
Only that which Allah wills shall come to pass even if people detest it.
Only that which Mwenyezi Mungu wills shall come to pass even if people detest it.
لَمْ يَمْسَسْهُمْ سُوَءٌ مَا شَاءَ اللّهُ
Lam yamsashum suwaʾun mā shāʾa Allāhu
Sufficient for me is the Lord against the lorded.
Sufficient for me is the Mola against the lorded.
لَا حَوْلَ وَ لَا قُوَّةَ اِلَّا بِاللهِ مَاشَآءَ اللّهُ لَا مَا شَآءَ النَاسُ،
Lā ḥawla wa lā quwwata al-ā biāllhi māshaʾāʾa Allāhu lā mā shaʾāʾa an-nāsu,
Sufficient for me is the Creator against the creatures.
Ananitosheleza Muumba dhidi ya viumbe.
مَا شَآَءَ اللهُ وَ اِنْ كَرِةَ النَّاسُ
Mā shaʾāʾa Allāhu wa in karita an-nāsu
Sufficient for me is the Sustainer against the sustained.
Ananitosheleza Mtoaji riziki dhidi ya wanaorizikiwa.
حَسْبِيَ الرَّبُّ مِنَ الْمَرْبُوْبِيْنَ حَسْبِيَ الْخَالِقُ مِنَ الْمَخْلُوْقِيْنَ
Ḥasbiya ar-rabbu mina al-marbūbīna ḥasbiya al-khāliqu mina al-makhlūqīna
Sufficient for me is Allah, the Lord of the worlds.
Sufficient for me is Mwenyezi Mungu, the Mola of the worlds.
حَسْبِيَ الرَّازِقُ مِنَ الْمَرْزُوْقِيْنَ
Ḥasbiya ar-rāziqu mina al-marzūqīna
Sufficient for me is He Who is sufficient for me.
Ananitosheleza Yeye anayenitosheleza.
حَسْبِيَ اللهُ رَبُّ الْعَالَمِيْنَ حَسْبِيْ مَنْ هُوَ حَسْبِيْ
Ḥasbiya Allāhu rabbu al-ʿālamīna ḥasbī man huwa ḥasbī
Sufficient for me is He Who has been always sufficient for me.
Ananitosheleza Yeye ambaye siku zote ananitosheleza.
حَسْبِيْ مَنْ لَمْ يَزَلْ حَسْبِيْ
Ḥasbī man lam yazal ḥasbī
Sufficient for me is He Who had been since eternity and still sufficient for me.
Ananitosheleza Yeye aliyekuwepo tangu azali na bado ananitosheleza.
حَسْبِي مَنْ كَانَ مُذْ كُنْتُ لَمْ يَزَلْ حَسْبِيْ حَسْبِيَ اللّهُ لَا اِنْهَ إِلَا هُوَ
Ḥasbī man kāna mudh kuntu lam yazal ḥasbī ḥasbiya Allāhu lā inha ʾilā huwa
"Allah suffices me. There is no god save Him.
"Mwenyezi Mungu suffices me. There is no god save Him.
عَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ وَ هُوَ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيْمِ.
ʿalayhi tawakkaltu wa huwa rabbu al-ʿarshi al-ʿaẓīmi.
In Him have I put my trust, and He is the Lord of the Tremendous Throne."
In Him have I put my trust, and He is the Mola of the Tremendous Throne."
