Instructions
قَالَ الرَّاوِي أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ اليَمَانِيُّ: فَلَمَّا كَانَ الدَّوْرُ فِي الصَّلَاةِ عَلَيْهِ أَمْسَكَ الإِمَامُ الْحَسَنُ الْعَسْكَرِيُّ عليه السلام، فَقُلْتُ لَهُ فِي ذَلِكَ، فَقَالَ: لَوْلَا أَنَّهُ دِينٌ أُمِرْنَا أَنْ نُؤَدِّيَهُ وَنُوصِلَهُ إِلَى أَهْلِهِ لَكُنْتُ أَمْسَكْتُ، وَلَكِنَّهُ الدِّينُ، اكْتُبْ:
The reporter, Abu-Muhammad al-Yamani, said: When it was the turn of the invocation of blessings upon him, Imam al-Hasan al-'Askari ('a) stopped. I asked about the reason, and he answered: Had this question not been part of the religion that we are ordered to convey and transmit to its people, I would have preferred keeping silence. However, this is the religion. You may write down:
Msimulizi, Abu-Muhammad al-Yamani, amesema: Ilipofika zamu ya kusoma swala (kumswalia) yeye, Imam al-Hasan al-'Askari (a.s) alinyamaza. Nikamuuliza kuhusu sababu hiyo, naye akajibu: 'Laiti swali hili lisingekuwa sehemu ya dini ambayo tumeamrishwa kuifikisha na kuifikisha kwa watu wake, ningependelea kunyamaza. Hata hivyo, hii ndiyo dini. Unaweza kuandika:'
اَللّهُمَّ صَلَّ عَلَى عَلِيَّ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ
Allāhumma ṣalla ʿalā ʿaliyya bni muḥammadin
O Allah, (please) send blessings upon 'Ali the son of Muhammad,
Ee Allah, mswalie Ali mwana wa Muhammad,
وَصِيِّ الْاَوْصِيَاءِ
Waṣiyyi al-āwṣiyāʾi
the successor of the Successors,
mrithi wa mawasii (warithi wa Mitume),
وَ اِمَامِ الْاَتْقِيَاءِ
Wa imāmi al-ātqiyāʾi
the leader of the pious,
kiongozi wa wachamungu,
وَ خَلَفٍ اَئِمَّةِ الدِّيْنِ
Wa khalafin aʾimmati ad-dīni
the descendant of the leaders of the religion,
na mfuasi (mrithi) wa viongozi wa dini,
وَ الْحُجَةِ عَلَى الْخَلَائِقِ اَجْمَعِيْنَ
Wa al-ḥujati ʿalā al-khalāʾiqi ajmaʿīna
and the argument against all of the creatures.
na hoja juu ya viumbe wote.
اَللهُمّ كَمَا جَعَلْتَهُ نُوْرًا يَسْتَضِيءُ بِهِ الْمُؤْمِنُوْنَ
Allāhumma kamā jaʿaltahu nūran yastaḍīʾu bihi al-muʾminūna
O Allah, as You have made him the source of light from which the believers derive light,
Ee Allah, kama ulivyomfanya kuwa nuru ambayo kwayo waumini hupata mwanga,
فَبَشَّرَ بِالْجَزِيْلِ مِنْ ثَوَابِكَ
Fabasshara biāljazīli min thawābika
and so he conveyed the good tidings of Your abundant reward,
naye akabashiri malipo Yako makubwa,
وَ اَنْذَرَ بِالْاَلِيْمِ مِنْ عِقَابِكَ
Wa andhara biālālīmi min ʿiqābika
warned against Your painful punishment,
na akaonya dhidi ya adhabu Yako chungu,
وَ حَذَّرَ بَأسَكَ
Wa ḥaddhara baʾsaka
notified against Your prowess,
na akatahadharisha juu ya nguvu Zako,
وَ ذَكَّرَ بِأيَاتِكَ
Wa dhakkara biʾyātika
reminded of Your signs,
na akakumbusha aya Zako (ishara Zako),
وَ اَحَلَّ حَلَالَكَ
Wa aḥalla ḥalālaka
rendered legal that which You have deemed legal,
na akahalalisha ulichokihalalisha,
وَ حَرَّمَ حَرَامَكَ
Wa ḥarrama ḥarāmaka
rendered illegal that which You have deemed illegal,
na akaharamisha ulichokiharamisha,
وَ بَيَّنَ شَرَائِعَكَ وَ فَرَآئِضَكَ
Wa bayyana sharāʾiʿaka wa faraʾāʾiḍaka
explained Your laws and the duties towards You,
na akabainisha sheria Zako na faradhi Zako,
وَ حَضَّ عَلَى عِبَادَتِكَ
Wa ḥaḍḍa ʿalā ʿibādatika
encouraged on servitude to You,
na akahimiza juu ya ibada Yako,
وَ اَمَرَ بِطَاعَتِكَ
Wa amara biṭāʿatika
enjoined obedience to You,
na akaamrisha utiifu Kwako,
وَ نَهِى عَنْ مَعْصِيَتِكَ
Wa nahiā ʿan maʿṣiyatika
and forbade disobedience to You,
na akakataza uasi dhidi Yako,
فَصَلّ عَلَيْهِ
Faṣall ʿalayhi
so also (please) bless him
basi mswalie (rehema zako ziwe juu yake)
اَفْضَلَ مَا صَلَّيْتَ عَلَى آَحَدٍ
Afḍala mā ṣallayta ʿalā āḥadin
with the most favorite blessings that You have ever bestowed upon any
kwa swala bora kabisa ulizomswalia yeyote
مِنْ أَوْلِيَآئِكَ وَ ذُرِّيَّةٍ اَنْبِيَآَئِكَ
Min ʾawliyaʾāʾika wa dhurriyyatin anbiyaʾāʾika
of Your intimate servants and descendants of Your Prophets.

يَآ اِلْهَ الْعَالَمِيْنَ.
Yaʾā al-ha al-ʿālamīna.
O God of the Worlds!
