Instructions
اَللَّهُمَّ صَلَّ عَلَى الْحَسَنِ وَ الْحُسَيْنِ
O Allah, (please) send blessings upon al-Hasan and al-Husayn
Ee Allah, mswalie al-Hasan na al-Husayn
عَبْدَيْكَ وَ وَلِيَّيْكَ
ʿabdayka wa waliyyayka
Your two servants and friends,
Watumwa Wako wawili na marafiki Zako wawili,
وَ ابْنَيْ رَسُوْلِكَ وَ سِبْطَي الرَّحْمَةِ
Wa abnay rasūlika wa sibṭay ar-raḥmati
the two sons of Your Messenger, the two grandsons of Mercy,
watoto wawili wa Mtume Wako na wajukuu wawili wa Rehema,
وَ سَيِّدَيْ شَبَابٍ اَهْل الْجَنَّةِ
Wa sayyiday shabābin ahl al-jannati
and the two chiefs of the youth of Paradise,
na mabwana wawili wa vijana wa watu wa Peponi,
اَفْضَلَ مَا صَلَّيْتَ عَلَى آَحَدٍ مِنْ آَوْلَادِ النَّبِيَّيْنَ وَ الْمُرْسَلِيْنَ
Afḍala mā ṣallayta ʿalā āḥadin min āwlādi an-nabiyyayna wa al-mursalīna
with the most excellent blessings that You have ever sent upon any of the sons of the Prophets and the Messengers.
kwa baraka bora kabisa ambazo Umewahi kumtumia yeyote kati ya watoto wa Mitume na Wajumbe.
اَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى الْحَسَنِ بْنِ سَيِّدِ النَّبِيِّيْنَ
Allāhumma ṣalli ʿalā al-ḥasani bni sayyidi an-nabiyyīna
O Allah, (please) send blessings upon al-Hasan the son of the chief of the Prophets
Ee Allah, mswalie al-Hasan mwana wa bwana wa Mitume
وَ وَصِيِّ اَمِيْرِ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ
Wa waṣiyyi amīri al-muʾminīna
and the successor of the Commander of the Faithful.
na wasii wa Amiri wa Waumini.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا ابْنَ رَسُوْلِ اللهِ
As-salāmu ʿalayka yā abna rasūli Allāhi
Peace be upon you, O son of Allah's Messenger.
Amani iwe juu yako, ee mwana wa Mtume wa Allah.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا ابْنَ سَيِّدِ الْوَصِيِّيْنَ
As-salāmu ʿalayka yā abna sayyidi al-waṣiyyīna
Peace be upon you, O son of the chief of the Prophets' successors.
Amani iwe juu yako, ee mwana wa bwana wa mawasii wa Mitume.
اَشْهَدُ أَنَّكَ يَا ابْنَ اَمِيْرِ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ
Ashhadu ʾannaka yā abna amīri al-muʾminīna
I bear witness that you are verily the son of the Commander of the Faithful,
Nashuhudia kwamba wewe hakika ni mwana wa Amiri wa Waumini,
آَمِيْنُ اللهِ وَ ابْنُ اَمِيْنِهِ
Āmīnu Allāhi wa abnu amīnihi
the trustee of Allah, and the son of His trustee.
mwaminifu wa Allah, na mwana wa mwaminifu Wake.
عِشْتَ رَشِيْدًا مَظْلُوْمًا
ʿishta rashīdan maẓlūman
You lived upright and persecuted
Uliishi kwa uongofu na ukadhulumiwa
وَ مَضَيْتَ شَهِيْدًا
Wa maḍayta shahīdan
and passed away as martyr.
na ukaondoka ukiwa shahidi.
وَ اَشْهَدُ أَنَّكَ الْإِمَامُ الزَّكِيُّ
Wa ashhadu ʾannaka al-ʾimāmu az-zakiyyu
And I bear witness that you are verily the pure leader,
Na nashuhudia kwamba wewe hakika ni Imamu mtakasifu,
الهَادِي المَهْدِيُّ
Al-hādī al-mahdiyyu
the guiding, and well-guided.
muongozaji, na uliyeongozwa.
اَللَّهُمَّ صَلَّ عَلَيْهِ
Allāhumma ṣalla ʿalayhi
O Allah, (please) send blessings upon him
Ee Allah, mswalie yeye
وَ بَلَّغْ رُوْحَهُ وَ جَسَدَهُ عَنِّيْ
Wa ballagh rūḥahu wa jasadahu ʿannī
and convey to his soul and body from me
na ufikishe kwa roho yake na mwili wake kutoka kwangu
فِيْ هَذِهِ السَّاعَةِ اَفْضَلَ التَّحِيَّةِ وَ السَّلَامِ
Fī hadhihi as-sāʿati afḍala at-taḥiyyati wa as-salāmi
at this hour the best greeting and salutation.
katika saa hii, maamkizi na amani bora zaidi.
اَللَّهُمَّ صَلَّ عَلَى الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ عَلِيِّ
Allāhumma ṣalla ʿalā al-ḥusayni bni ʿaliyyi
O Allah, (please) send blessings upon al-Husayn the son of Ali,
Ee Allah, mswalie al-Husayn mwana wa Ali,
الْمَظْلُوْمِ الشَّهِيْدِ
Al-maẓlūmi ash-shahīdi
the oppressed, the martyr,
aliyedhulumiwa, shahidi,
قَتِيْلِ الْكَفَرَةِ وَ طَرِيْحِ الْفَجَرَةِ
Qatīli al-kafarati wa ṭarīḥi al-fajarati
the slain by the unbelievers, and the thrown down by the sinful people.
aliyeuawa na makafiri, na aliyetupwa na waovu.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَآ اَبَا عَبْدِ اللهِ
As-salāmu ʿalayka yaʾā abā ʿabdi Allāhi
Peace be upon you, O Abu- Abdullah.
Amani iwe juu yako, ee Abu-Abdullah.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا ابْنَ رَسُوْلِ اللهِ
As-salāmu ʿalayka yā abna rasūli Allāhi
Peace be upon you, O son of Allah's Messenger.
Amani iwe juu yako, ee mwana wa Mtume wa Allah.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا ابْنَ اَمِيْرِ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ،
As-salāmu ʿalayka yā abna amīri al-muʾminīna,
Peace be upon you, O son of the Commander of the Faithful.
Amani iwe juu yako, ee mwana wa Amiri wa Waumini.
اَشْهَدُ مُؤقِنَّا آَنَّكَ آَمِيْنُ اللهِ وَ ابْنُ امِيْنِهِ
Ashhadu muʾqinnā ānnaka āmīnu Allāhi wa abnu amīnihi
I bear witness with full conviction that you are verily the trustee of Allah and the son of His trustee.
Nashuhudia kwa yakini kabisa kwamba wewe hakika ni mwaminifu wa Allah na mwana wa mwaminifu Wake.
قُتِلْتَ مَظْلُوْمًا وَ مَضَيْتَ شَهِيْدًا
Qutilta maẓlūman wa maḍayta shahīdan
You were killed wrongly and you passed away as martyr.
Uliuawa kwa dhuluma na ukaondoka ukiwa shahidi.
وَ اَشْهَدُ اَنَّ اللهَ تَعَالَى الطَّالِبُ بِثَارِكَ
Wa ashhadu anna Allāha taʿālā aṭ-ṭālibu bithārika
I also bear witness that Allah the All-exalted is the One Who shall avenge You
Pia nashuhudia kwamba Allah Aliyetukuka ndiye Atakayelipiza kisasi chako
وَ مُنْجِزٌ مَا وَعَدَكَ مِنَ النَّصْرِ وَ التَّأْبِيْدِ
Wa munjizun mā waʿadaka mina an-naṣri wa at-taʾbīdi
and shall fulfill His promise to You of support and victory
na Atatimiza ahadi Yake kwako ya nusura na ushindi wa kudumu
فِيْ هَلَاكِ عَدُوَّكَ وَ اِظْهَارٍ دَعْوَتِكَ
Fī halāki ʿaduwwaka wa iẓhārin daʿwatika
through exterminating your enemies and demonstrating your call (to the true guidance).
kupitia kuwaangamiza maadui zako na kudhihirisha wito wako.
وَ اَشَهَدُ أَنَّكَ وَفَيْتَ بِعَهْدِ اللهِ
Wa ashahadu ʾannaka wafayta biʿahdi Allāhi
I also bear witness that you fulfilled your covenant with Allah,
Pia nashuhudia kwamba ulitekeleza ahadi yako kwa Allah,
وَ جَاهَدْتَ فِيْ سَبِيْلِ اللهِ
Wa jāhadta fī sabīli Allāhi
strove hard for His sake,
ukafanya juhudi kubwa kwa ajili Yake,
وَ عَبَدْتَ اللهَ مُخْلِصًا حَتَّى آَتَاكَ الْيَقِيْنُ
Wa ʿabadta Allāha mukhliṣan ḥattā ātāka al-yaqīnu
and served Allah sincerely until death came upon you.
na ukamuabudu Allah kwa ikhlasi mpaka mauti yakakufika.
لَعَنَ اللهُ أُمَةًّ قَتَلَثكَ
Laʿana Allāhu ʾumatan qatalathka
May Allah curse the people who killed you.
Allah awalaani watu waliokuua.
وَ لَعَنَ اللهُ أُمَّةَ خَذَلَثْكَ
Wa laʿana Allāhu ʾummata khadhalathka
May Allah curse the people who disappointed you.
Allah awalaani watu waliokutelekeza.
وَ لَعَنَ اللهُ أُمَّةً اَلَبَّثْ عَلَيْكَ
Wa laʿana Allāhu ʾummatan al-bath ʿalayka
May Allah curse the people who incited people against you.
Allah awalaani watu waliochochea dhidi yako.
وَ أَبْرَأُ اِلَى اللهِ تَعَالَى مِمَّنْ اَكْذَبَكَ
Wa ʾabraʾu al-ā Allāhi taʿālā mimman akdhabaka
I release myself before Allah the All-exalted from those who belied you,
Najitenga mbele ya Allah Aliyetukuka na wale waliokukadhibisha,
وَ اسْتَخَفَّ بِحَقَّكَ وَ اسْتَحَلّ دَمَكَ
Wa astakhaffa biḥaqqaka wa astaḥall damaka
belittled your right, and allowed themselves to shed your blood.
waliodharau haki yako, na wakajihalalishia kumwaga damu yako.
بِآَبِي أَنْتَ وَ أَمَّيْ يَا آَبَا عَبْدِ اللهِ
Biʾābī ʾanta wa ʾammay yā ābā ʿabdi Allāhi
May my father and mother be ransoms for you, O Abu-Abdullah.
Baba yangu na mama yangu wawe fidia kwako, ee Abu-Abdullah.
لَعَنَ اللهُ قَاتِلَكَ
Laʿana Allāhu qātilaka
Allah's curse be on those who killed you.
Laana ya Allah iwe juu ya wale waliokuua.
وَ لَعَنَ اللهُ خَاذِلَكَ
Wa laʿana Allāhu khādhilaka
Allah's curse be on those who let you down.
Laana ya Allah iwe juu ya wale waliokutelekeza.
وَلَعَنَ اللهُ مَنْ سَمِعَ وَاعِيَتَكَ فَلَمْ يُجِبْكَ وَ لَمْ يَنْصُرْكَ
Walaʿana Allāhu man samiʿa wāʿiyataka falam yujibka wa lam yanṣurka
Allah's curse be on those who heard your call (for help), but they refrained from responding to you or supporting you.
Laana ya Allah iwe juu ya wale waliosikia wito wako (wa msaada), lakini wakajizuia kukuitikia au kukunusuru.
وَلَعَنَ اللهُ مَنْ سَبْى نِسَآءَكَ
Walaʿana Allāhu man sabā nisaʾāʾaka
Allah's curse be on those who captured your women.
Laana ya Allah iwe juu ya wale waliowateka wanawake wako.
آَنَآ إِلَى اللهِ مِنْهُمْ بَرِيّءً وَ مِمَّنْ وَالَاهُمْ
Ānaʾā ʾilā Allāhi minhum bariyyʾan wa mimman wālāhum
I disavow them all before Allah and disavow those who adhered to them,
Najitenga nao wote mbele ya Allah na najitenga na wale waliowafuata,
وَ مَالَاهُمْ وَ اَعَانَهُمْ عَلَيْهِ
Wa malāhum wa a'ānahum 'alayh.
those who kept up with them, and those who helped them against you.
waliowaunga mkono, na wale waliowasaidia dhidi yako.
وَ اَشْهَدُ أَنَّكَ وَ الْاَئِمَّةَ مِنْ وُلَدِكَ كَلِمَةُ التَّقْوْى
Wa ashhadu ʾannaka wa al-āʾimmata min wuladika kalimatu at-taqwā
I also bear witness that you and the Imams from your descendants are the word of piety,
Pia nashuhudia kwamba wewe na Maimamu kutokana na kizazi chako ni neno la ucha-Mungu,
وَ بَابُ الْهُدْى وَ الْعَرْوَةُ الْوُثْقِي
Wa bābu al-hudā wa al-ʿarwatu al-wuthqī
the door to true guidance, the firmest handle,
mlango wa uongofu wa kweli, na kishikio imara zaidi,
وَ الْحُجَةُ عَلَى اَهْلِ الدُّنْيَا
Wa al-ḥujatu ʿalā ahli ad-dunyā
and the argument against the inhabitants of this world.
na hoja dhidi ya wakazi wa dunia hii.
وَ اَشْهَدُ أَنَّي بِكُمْ مُؤْمِنٌ
Wa ashhadu ʾannay bikum muʾminun
I also bear witness that I have full faith in you,
Pia nashuhudia kwamba nina imani kamili kwenu,
وَ بِمَنْزِلَتِكُمْ مُؤْقِنْ
Wa bimanzilatikum muʾqin
I have conviction in your standing,
nina yakini na hadhi yenu,
وَلَكُمْ تَابِعُ بِذَاتِ نَفْسِيْ
Walakum tābiʿu bidhāti nafsī
and I always follow you in myself,
na daima nawafuata nyinyi katika nafsi yangu,
وَ شَرَائِعِ دِيْنِيْ وَ خَوَاتِيْمِ عَمَلِيْ
Wa sharāʾiʿi dīnī wa khawātīmi ʿamalī
in the laws of my religion, in my sealing deeds,
katika sheria za dini yangu, katika hitimisho la vitendo vyangu,
وَ مُتَقَلَّبِيْ فِي دُنْيَايَ وَ اخِرَتِيْ.
Wa mutaqallabī fī dunyāya wa akhiratī.
in my tour (movements), and in my settlement in this worldly life and the Hereafter.
katika harakati zangu, na makazi yangu katika maisha haya ya dunia na Akhera.
