SALAWAT UPON THE COMMANDER OF THE FAITHFUL
SALA KWA KIONGOZI WA WAUMINI
اَللّهُمَّ صَلَّ عَلَى اَمِيْرِ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ
Allāhumma ṣalla ʿalā amīri al-muʾminīna
O Allah, (please do) send blessings upon the Commander of the Faithful
Ee Allah, mswalie Kiongozi wa Waumini
عَلِيِّ بْنِ اَبِيْ طَالِبِ
ʿaliyyi bni abī ṭālibi
'Ali the son of Abu-Talib,
Ali mwana wa Abu Talib,
اخِي نَبِيِّكَ وَ وَلِيَّهِ
Akhī nabiyyika wa waliyyahi
the brother, ally,
ndugu wa Nabii Wako na rafiki yake,
وَ صَفِيِّهِ [وَ وَصِيِّهِ] وَ وَزِيْرِهِ
Wa ṣafiyyihi wa waṣiyyihi wa wazīrihi
choice, [and successor] and vizier of Your Prophet,
mteule Wake, [na mrithi Wake] na waziri Wake,
وَ مُسْتَوْدَعِ عِلَمِهِ
Wa mustawdaʿi ʿilamihi
the store of his knowledge,
ghala la elimu yake,
وَ مَوْضِعٍ سِرِّهِ
Wa mawḍiʿin sirrihi
the depot of his secrets,
mahali pa siri zake,
وَ بَابٍ حِكْمَتِهِ
Wa bābin ḥikmatihi
the door to his wisdom,
mlango wa hekima yake,
وَ النَّاطِقِ بِحْجَتِهِ
Wa an-nāṭiqi biḥjatihi
the spokesman with his arguments,
msemaji kwa hoja zake,
وَ الدَّاعِيّ إِلَى شَرِيْعَتِهِ
Wa ad-dāʿiyy ʾilā sharīʿatihi
the caller to his code of law,
mlinganiaji kwenye sheria yake,
وَ خَلِيْفَتِهِ فِي أُمَتِهِ
Wa khalīfatihi fī ʾumatihi
his viceroy in his community,
makamu wake katika umma wake,
وَ مُفَرّجٍ الكُرَبِ [الكَزْبِ] عَنْ وَجْهِهِ
Wa mufarrjin al-kurabi alkazbi ʿan wajhihi
the reliever of agonies from his face,
mwenye kuondoa huzuni katika uso wake,
قَاصِمِ الْكَفَرَةِ
Qāṣimi al-kafarati
the terminator of the infidels,
mwangamizaji wa makafiri,
وَ مُرْغِمِ الفَجَرَةِ
Wa murghimi al-fajarati
and the conqueror of the wicked ones;
na mdhalilishaji wa waovu;
الَّذِيْ جَعَلْتَهُ مِنْ نَبِيِّكَ بِمَنْزِلَةِ هَارُوْنَ مِنْ مُؤْسىَ
Adh-dhī jaʿaltahu min nabiyyika bimanzilati hārūna min muʾsā
whom You have made, with regard to his position to Your Prophet, occupy the same position that (Prophet) Aaron enjoyed with (Prophet) Moses.
ambaye Umemfanya, kuhusiana na nafasi yake kwa Nabii Wako, kushika nafasi ile ile ambayo (Nabii) Harun aliifurahia kwa (Nabii) Musa.
اَللَّهُمَّ وَالِ مَنْ وَالاه
Allāhumma wāli man wālāh
O Allah, (please do) give support to any one who supports him,
Ee Allah, mpende anayempenda,
وَ عَادِ مَنْ عَادَاهُ
Wa ʿādi man ʿādāhu
be the enemy of every one who antagonizes him,
kuwa adui wa kila anayemfanyia uadui,
وَ انْصُرْ مَنْ نَصْرَهُ
Wa anṣur man naṣrahu
give victory to any one who gives him his victory,
mnusuru kila anayemnusuru,
وَ اخْذُلْ مَنْ خَذَلَهُ
Wa akhdhul man khadhalahu
disappoint every one who disappoints him,
mwaibisha kila anayemuacha,
وَ الْعَنْ مَنْ نَصَّبَ لَهُ
Wa al-ʿan man naṣṣaba lahu
and lay curse on any one who incurs the hostility of him
na mlaani yeyote anayemkhalifu
مِنَ الْاَوَّلِيْنَ وَ الْأَخِرِيْنَ
Mina al-āwalīna wa al-ʾakhirīna
from the past and the coming generations.
miongoni mwa vizazi vilivyopita na vijavyo.
وَ صَلِّ عَلَيْهِ اَفْضَلَ مَا صَلَّيْتَ
Wa ṣalli ʿalayhi afḍala mā ṣallayta
And (please do) bless him with the best blessings that You have ever poured
Na mswalie kwa swala bora kabisa ambazo Umewahi kuzishusha
عَلَى آَحَدٍ مِنْ اَوْصِيَاءِ اَنْبِيَآئِكَ
ʿalā āḥadin min awṣiyāʾi anbiyaʾāʾika
on any of Your Prophet's successors.
kwa yeyote miongoni mwa mawasii wa Manabii Wako.
يَا رَبَّ العَالمِيْنَ.
Yā rabba al-ʿālmīna.
O Lord of the worlds!
Ee Mola wa walimwengu!
