DUAS AT DAYBREAK AND SUNSET
Be it known to you - may Allah grant you His support - that the traditions about the merits of doing acts of worship at the two hours of daybreak and sunset are too many to be counted. Likewise, too many are the litanies and supplicatory prayers that have been reported from the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) and his Household (a.s.) to be said at these two times. However, I will mention in this brief book a few of them, seeking blessings of Almighty Allah.
DUA ZA MAPAMBAZUKO NA MACHWEO
Fahamu kwamba - Mwenyezi Mungu akupe msaada Wake - hadithi kuhusu fadhila za kufanya ibada katika masaa mawili ya mapambazuko na machweo ni nyingi mno kiasi cha kutoweza kuhesabika. Kadhalika, dua na nyiradi nyingi zimeripotiwa kutoka kwa Mtume Mtukufu (s.a.w.w.) na Ahlul-Bayt wake (a.s.) za kusomwa katika nyakati hizi mbili. Hata hivyo, nitataja katika kitabu hiki kifupi chache miongoni mwazo, nikitafuta baraka za Mwenyezi Mungu Mtukufu.
لَا اِلْهَ اِلَّا اللَهُ
Lā al-ha al-ā Allāhu
There is no god save Allah,
Hapana mungu isipokuwa Mwenyezi Mungu,
وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ
Waḥdahu lā sharīka lahu
alone without having any partner.
pekee asiye na mshirika.
لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَ لَهُ الْحَمْدُ
Lahu al-mulku wa lahu al-ḥamdu
To Him is the kingdom and to Him is all praise.
Ni Vyake Yeye ufalme na sifa zote njema.
يُحْيِي وَ يُمِيتُ
Yuḥyī wa yumītu
He gives life and causes to die
Yeye huhuisha na kufisha,
وَ هُوَ حَيٌّ لَا يَمُوتُ
Wa huwa ḥayyun lā yamūtu
while He is Ever-living and never dies.
naye ni Mzima wa Milele asiyekufa.
بِيَدِهِ الْخَيْرُ
Biyadihi al-khayru
In His hand is the good
Mkononi Mwake kuna kheri,
وَ هُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ
Wa huwa ʿalā kulli shayʾin qadīrun
and He has power over all things.
na Yeye ana uwezo juu ya kila kitu.
سُبْحَانَ اللّهِ وَ بِحَمْدِهِ
Subḥāna Allāhi wa biḥamdihi
All glory be to Allah, and in praise of Him.
Ametakasika Mwenyezi Mungu na sifa zote njema ni Zake.
سُبْحَانَ اللهِ
Subḥāna Allāhi
All glory be to Allah,
Ametakasika Mwenyezi Mungu,
وَ الْحَمْدُ للهِ
Wa al-ḥamdu lillāhi
all praise be to Allah,
na sifa zote njema ni za Mwenyezi Mungu,
وَ لَا اِلْهَ اِلَّا اللَهُ
Wa lā al-ha al-ā Allāhu
there is no god save Allah,
na hapana mungu isipokuwa Mwenyezi Mungu,
وَ اللهُ اَكْبَرُ
Wa Allāhu akbaru
and Allah is the Greatest.
na Mwenyezi Mungu ni Mkubwa zaidi.
فَسُبْحَانَ اللهِ حِيْنَ تُمْسُوْنَ وَ حِيْنَ تُصْبِحُوْنَ
Fasubḥāna Allāhi ḥīna tumsūna wa ḥīna tuṣbiḥūna
Therefore, glory be to Allah when you enter upon the time of the evening and when you enter upon the time of the morning;
Basi mtakaseni Mwenyezi Mungu mnapoingia jioni na mnapoingia asubuhi;
وَ لَهُ الْحَمْدُ فِي السَّمٰوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ
Wa lahu al-ḥamdu fī as-samāwāti wālʾarḍi
and to Him belongs praise in the heavens and the earth,
na sifa zote njema ni Zake mbinguni na ardhini,
وَ عَشِيًّا وَ حِيْنَ تَظْهِرُوْنَ
Wa ʿashiyyan wa ḥīna taẓhirūna
and at nightfall and when you are at midday.
na usiku na wakati mnapokuwa adhuhuri.
بِسْمِ اللّهِ الرَّحْمْنِ الرَّحِيْمِ
Bismi Allāhi ar-Raḥmāni ar-raḥīmi
In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful.
Kwa jina la Mwenyezi Mungu, Mwingi wa rehema, Mwenye kurehemu.
لَا حَوْلَ وَ لَا قُوَّةَ اِلَا بِاللهِ الْعَلِيَّ الْعَظِيمِ
Lā ḥawla wa lā quwwata al-ā biāllhi al-ʿaliyya al-ʿaẓīmi
There is neither might nor power except with Allah, the All-high, the All-great.
Hapana nguvu wala uwezo isipokuwa kwa msaada wa Mwenyezi Mungu, Aliye Juu, Mtukufu.
لَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَةَ اِلَّا بِاللهِ
Lā ḥawla walā quwata al-ā biāllhi
There is neither might nor power except with Allah.
Hapana nguvu wala uwezo isipokuwa kwa msaada wa Mwenyezi Mungu.
تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى الْحَىِّ الَّذِي لَا يَمُؤْتُ
Tawakkaltu ʿalā al-ḥā adh-dhī lā yamuʾtu
I put my trust in the Ever-living (Lord) Who never dies.
Nimemtegemea Aliye Mzima wa Milele asiyekufa.
وَالْحَمْدُ للهِ الَّذِيْ لَمْ يَتَّخِذْ وَلَدًا
Wālḥamdu lillāhi adh-dhī lam yattakhidh waladan
All praise is due to Allah, Who has not taken a son
Na sifa zote njema ni za Mwenyezi Mungu, Ambaye hakujifanyia mtoto,
وَ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ شَرِيْكٌ فِى الْمُلْكِ
Wa lam yakun lahu sharīkun fiā al-mulki
and Who has not a partner in the kingdom,
na wala hana mshirika katika ufalme,
وَ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ وَلِىًّ مَنَ الذَّلَ
Wa lam yakun lahu waliā mana adh-dhala
and Who has not a helper to save Him from disgrace;
na wala hana msaidizi wa kumwokoa na udhalili;
وَ كَبِّرْهُ تَكْبِيْرًا
Wa kabbirhu takbīran
and magnify Him with all magnificence.
na mtukuzeni kwa utukufu mkuu.
اَعْوْذُ بِاللهِ السَّمِيْعِ الْعَلِيْمِ
Aʿwdhu biāllhi as-samīʿi al-ʿalīmi
I pray for the protection of Allah, the All-hearing the All-knowing,
Najikinga kwa Mwenyezi Mungu, Mwenye kusikia, Mjuzi,
مِنْ هَمَزَاتِ الشَّيَاطِيْنِ
Min hamazāti ash-shayāṭīni
against the evil suggestions of the devils
kutokana na wasiwasi wa mashetani,
وَ اَعُوْذُ بِاللهِ آَنْ يَخضُرُوْنِ
Wa aʿūdhu biāllhi ān yakhḍurūni
and I pray for Allah's protection lest they be present with me.
na najikinga kwa Mwenyezi Mungu wasije kuhudhuria kwangu.
اِنَّ اللّهِ هُوَ السَّمِيْعُ الْعَلِيْمُ
Inna Allāhi huwa as-samīʿu al-ʿalīmu
Verily, Allah is the All-hearing, the Allknowing.
Hakika Mwenyezi Mungu ni Mwenye kusikia, Mjuzi.
اَللَّهُمَّ مُقَلَّبَ الْقُلُوْبِ وَالْأبْصَارِ
Allāhumma muqallaba al-qulūbi wālʾbṣāri
O Allah Who causes the changes of hearts and sights,
Ee Mwenyezi Mungu, Mwenye kugeuza nyoyo na macho,
ثَبَّثْ قَلْبِى عَلَى دِيْنِكَ
Thabbath qalbiā ʿalā dīnika
(Please) make firm my heart on the course of Your religion,
thibitisha moyo wangu kwenye dini Yako,
وَلَا تُزِغُ قَلْبِى بَعْدَ إِذْ هَدَيْتَنِى
Walā tuzighu qalbiā baʿda ʾidh hadaytaniā
cause not my heart to stray off after You have guided me,
wala usiuponde moyo wangu baada ya kuniongoza,
وَهَبْ لِىْ مِنْ لَدُنْكَ رَحْمَةً
Wahab liā min ladunka raḥmatan
and bestow upon me mercy from Your Presence.
na unipe rehema kutoka Kwako.
إِنَّكَ اَنْتَ الْوَهَّابُ
ʾinnaka anta al-wahhābu
Surely, You, only You, are the Bestower.
Hakika Wewe, Wewe pekee ndiye Mpaji.
وَاَجِزْنِى مِنَ النَّارِ بِرَحْمَتِكَ
Wājizniā mina an-nāri biraḥmatika
And save me from Hellfire in the name of Your mercy.
Na niepushe na Moto kwa rehema Yako.
اَللَهُمَّ امْدُذلِي فِىْ عُمْرِىْ
Allāhumma amdudhlī fiā ʿumriā
O Allah, extend my lifetime,
Ee Mwenyezi Mungu, niongezee umri wangu,
وَ اَوْسِع عَلَىَّ فِىْ رِزْقِىْ
Wa awsiʿ ʿalā fiā rizqiā
expand my sustenance for me,
na unifungulie riziki yangu,
وَانْشُرْ عَلَىَّ مِنْ رَحْمَتِكَ
Wānshur ʿalā min raḥmatika
cover me with Your mercy,
na ueneze rehema Yako juu yangu,
وَ اِنْ كُنْتُ عِنْدَكَ فِى أَمِّ الْكِتَابِ شَقِيَّا
Wa in kuntu ʿindaka fiā ʾammi al-kitābi shaqiyyā
and if I am listed in the Mother of the Book (source of the ordinance) with the unhappy,
na ikiwa nimeandikwa Kwako katika Mama wa Kitabu kuwa mnyonge (mwenye dhiki),
فَاجْعَلْنِى سَعِيْدًا
Fājʿalniā saʿīdan
please include me with the happy ones,
basi nijaalie kuwa miongoni mwa wenye furaha,
فَاِنَّكَ تَمْحُوْمَا تَشَاءُ وَ تُثْبِتُ
Fānnaka tamḥūmā tashāʾu wa tuthbitu
for surely You efface what You will, establish what You will,
kwani hakika Wewe hufuta utakacho na kukithibitisha,
وَ عِنْدَكَ أُمُّ الْكِتَابِ
Wa ʿindaka ʾummu al-kitābi
and with You is the Mother of the Book.
na Kwako kuna Mama wa Kitabu.
سُبْحَانَ اللّهِ وَ بِحَمْدِهِ
Subḥāna Allāhi wa biḥamdihi
All glory be to Allah, and in praise of Him.
Ametakasika Mwenyezi Mungu na sifa zote njema ni Zake.
سُبْحَانَ اللهِ الْعَظِيمِ
Subḥāna Allāhi al-ʿaẓīmi
All glory be to Allah, the All-great.
Ametakasika Mwenyezi Mungu Mtukufu.
اَلْحَمْدُ للهِ الَّذِي عَرَّفَنِى نَفْسَهُ
Al-ḥamdu lillāhi adh-dhī ʿarrafaniā nafsahu
All praise be to Allah Who has introduced Himself to me
Sifa zote njema ni za Mwenyezi Mungu Ambaye amenijulisha Nafsi Yake,
وَ لَمْ يَثْرُكْنِى عَمْيَانَ الْقَلْبِ
Wa lam yathrukniā ʿamyāna al-qalbi
but has not left me blind-hearted.
na wala hakuniacha nikiwa kipofu wa moyo.
اَلْحَمْدُ للهِ الَّذِي جَعَلَنِى مِنْ أُمَّةِ مُحَمَّدٍ
Al-ḥamdu lillāhi adh-dhī jaʿalaniā min ʾummati muḥammadin
All praise be to Allah Who has made me of the people of Muhammad,
Sifa zote njema ni za Mwenyezi Mungu Ambaye amenijaalia kuwa miongoni mwa umma wa Muhammad,
صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ أَلِهِ
Ṣallā Allāhu ʿalayhi wa ʾalihi
may Allah bless him and his Household.
Mwenyezi Mungu amrehemu yeye na Ahlul-Bayt wake.
اَلْحَمْدُ للهِ الَّذِي جَعَلَ رِزْقِى فِى يَدَيْهِ
Al-ḥamdu lillāhi adh-dhī jaʿala rizqiā fiā yadayhi
All praise be to Allah Who has made my sustenance lie in His Hands,
Sifa zote njema ni za Mwenyezi Mungu Ambaye ameweka riziki yangu mkononi Mwake,
وَ لَمْ يَجْعَلْ رِزْقِى فِى اَيْدِى النَّاسِ
Wa lam yajʿal rizqiā fiā aydiā an-nāsi
but has not made it lie in the hands of people.
na wala hakuweka riziki yangu mikononi mwa watu.
اَلْحَمْدُ للهِ الَّذِي سَتَرَ ذُ نُوْبِى وَ عُيُوْبِىْ
Al-ḥamdu lillāhi adh-dhī satara dhu nūbiā wa ʿuyūbiā
All praise be to Allah Who has covered my defects
Sifa zote njema ni za Mwenyezi Mungu Ambaye amesitiri madhambi yangu na aibu zangu,
وَلَمْ يَفْضَحْنِى بَيْنَ الْخَلَايِقِ
Walam yafḍaḥniā bayna al-khalāyiqi
and has not exposed me among the creatures.
na wala hakunidhalilisha mbele ya viumbe.
اَلْحَمْدُ للهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِيْنَ
Al-ḥamdu lillāhi rabbi al-ʿālamīna
All praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds.
Sifa zote njema ni za Mwenyezi Mungu, Mola Mlezi wa walimwengu wote.
اَلْحَمْدُ للهّ حَمْدًا كَثِيْرًا
Al-ḥamdu lillāhi ḥamdan kathīran
All praise be to Allah with praise that is very much,
Sifa zote njema ni za Mwenyezi Mungu, sifa nyingi,
طَيِّبًا مُبَارَكًا فِيْهِ
Ṭayyiban mubārakan fīhi
pure, and blessed.
nzuri na zenye baraka ndani yake.
اَضبَحْتُ بِاللهِ مُؤْمِنًا
Aḍbaḥtu biāllhi muʾminan
I receive this morning having faith in Allah,
Nimepambaukiwa asubuhi hii nikiwa nina imani na Mwenyezi Mungu,
عَلَى دِيْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَسُنَّتِهِ
ʿalā dīni muḥammadin wasunnatihi
following the religion and traditions of Muhammad,
nikifuata dini ya Muhammad na mwenendo wake,
وَدِيْنِ عَلِيٌّ وَ سُنَّتِهِ
Wadīni ʿaliyyun wa sunnatihi
the religion and traditions of 'Ali,
na dini ya Ali na mwenendo wake,
وَ دِيْنِ الْاَوْصِيَاءِ وَ سُنَّتِهِمْ
Wa dīni al-āwṣiyāʾi wa sunnatihim
and the religion and traditions of the Successors.
na dini ya Mawasii (Maasumu) na mwenendo wao.
أَمَنْتُ بِسَّرِهِمْ وَ عَلَانِيَتِهِمْ
ʾamantu bissarihim wa ʿalāniyatihim
I believe in their secret and openness,
Ninaamini siri zao na dhahiri zao,
وَ شَاهِدِهِمْ وَ غَائِبِهِمْ
Wa shāhidihim wa ghāʾibihim
and their present and their absent.
na waliopo miongoni mwao na wasiokuwepo.
وَ اَعُوْذُ بِاللهِ مِمَّا اسْتَعَاذَ مِنْهُ رَسُوْلُ اللهِ
Wa a'udhu billahi mimma-stā'adha minhu rasulullah,
I pray for Allah's protection against what the Messenger of Allah,
Na najikinga kwa Mwenyezi Mungu na kile alichojikinga nacho Mtume wa Mwenyezi Mungu,
صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ أَلِهِ
Ṣallā Allāhu ʿalayhi wa ʾalihi
may Allah bless him and his Household,
Mwenyezi Mungu amrehemu yeye na Ahlul-Bayt wake,
وَ عَلِىُّ عَلَيْهِ السَّلامُ
Wa ʿaliā ʿalayhi as-salāmu
Ali, peace be upon him,
na Ali, amani iwe juu yake,
وَالْاَوْصِيَاءُ عَلَيْهِمُ السَّلَامُ
Wālāwṣiyāʾu ʿalayhimu as-salāmu
and the Successors, peace be upon them, have sought protection against.
na Mawasii, amani iwe juu yao.
وَاَرْغَبُ اِلَى اللّهِ فِيْمَا رَغِبُوْا اِلَيْهِ
Wārghabu al-ā Allāhi fīmā raghibūā al-yhi
I desire to Allah for what they have desired for.
Na ninaomba kwa Mwenyezi Mungu kile walichokiomba Kwake.
وَلَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ اِلَا بِاللهِ
Walā ḥawla walā quwwata al-ā biāllhi
There is neither might nor power except with Allah.
Na hapana nguvu wala uwezo isipokuwa kwa msaada wa Mwenyezi Mungu.
اَللهُ اَكْبَرُ اَللهُ اَكْبَرُ كَبِيْرًا
Allāhu akbaru Allāhu akbaru kabīran
Allah is the Greatest. Allah is the Greatest with all greatness.
Mwenyezi Mungu ni Mkubwa, Mwenyezi Mungu ni Mkubwa, Mkubwa zaidi.
وَ سُبْحَانَ اللهِ بُكْرَةً وَ أَصِيْلًا
Wa subḥāna Allāhi bukratan wa ʾaṣīlan
All glory be to Allah in morning and evening.
Na ametakasika Mwenyezi Mungu asubuhi na jioni.
وَالْحَمْدُ للهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِيْنَ كَثِيْرًا
Wālḥamdu lillāhi rabbi al-ʿālamīna kathīran
All praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds, with very much praise.
Na sifa zote njema ni za Mwenyezi Mungu, Mola Mlezi wa walimwengu, sifa nyingi mno.
لا شَرِيْكَ لَهُ
Lā sharīka lahu
No partner has He.
Hana mshirika Yeye.
وَ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلْى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ ألِهِ
Wa ṣallā Allāhu ʿalā muḥammadin wa ʾlihi
May Allah bless Muhammad and his Household.
Na amrehemu Mwenyezi Mungu Muhammad na Ahlul-Bayt wake.
بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الّذي لَا يَضُرُّ مَعَ اِسمِهِ شَءْ
Bismi Allāhi adh-dhy lā yaḍurru maʿa ismihi shaʾ
In the Name of Allah with Whose Name nothing can ever harm
Kwa jina la Mwenyezi Mungu Ambaye hakidhuriki kitu pamoja na jina Lake
فِى الْأَرْضِ وَلَا فِي السَّمَاءِ
Fiā al-ʾarḍi walā fī as-samāʾi
in the earth or in the heavens.
katika ardhi wala mbinguni.
وَ هُوَ السَّمِيْعُ العَلِيْمُ
Wa huwa as-samīʿu al-ʿalīmu
And He is the All-hearing, the All-knowing.
Naye ni Mwenye kusikia, Mjuzi.
اَللّهُمَّ إِنَّى أُشهِدُكَ
Allāhumma ʾinnā ʾushhiduka
O Allah, I call You to witness for me
Ee Mwenyezi Mungu, hakika mimi nakushuhudiza
آَنَّهُ مَا أَمْسَى وَ اَضبَحَ بِن مِنْ نِعْمَةٍ اَوْ عَافِيَةٍ فِي دِيْنٍ اَوْ دُنْيَا
Ānnahu mā ʾamsā wa aḍbaḥa bin min niʿmatin aw ʿāfiyatin fī dīnin aw dunyā
that whatever bliss or welfare in religious or worldly affair that I receive in every evening or morning
kwamba neema yoyote au afya katika dini au dunia iliyonifikia asubuhi hii au jioni hii
فَمِنْكَ وَحْدَكَ لَا شَرِيْكَ لَكَ
Faminka waḥdaka lā sharīka laka
are from You alone; there is no partner to You.
basi inatoka Kwako pekee usiye na mshirika.
لَكَ الْحَمْدُ وَ لَكَ الشُّكْرُ بِهَا عَلَىَّ
Laka al-ḥamdu wa laka ash-shukru bihā ʿalā
All praise and all thanks be to You from me for these,
Sifa zote njema na shukrani zote ni Zako kutoka kwangu kwa ajili ya hizo,
حَثَّى تَرْضى اِلَهَنَا
Ḥatthā tarḍā al-hanā
until You are pleased, O our Lord.
hadi uridhike, Ee Mola wetu.
