DUA SAYFI AL SAGIR (DUA QAMOOS)
The Supplication of the Minor Sword.
Also called Dua al-Qamus (The Supplicatory prayer of the Ocean), the trustworthy, noble Shaykh Mirza al-Nuri -may Allah honor his tomb - has mentioned this supplicatory prayer in his book entitled al-Sahifah al-Alawiyyah Il, adding, "This supplication has been explained by the master scholars of talismans and spiritual sciences with strange words referring to marvelous effects ensuing from reciting it." Yet, l will not refer to these details because I cannot depend upon their accuracy. Rather, 1, imitating our master scholars and avoiding falling in faults, only mention the original text of the supplication, which is as follows:
Dua Sayfi al Sagir (Dua Qamoos)
Maombi ya Upanga Mdogo.
Pia inaitwa Dua al-Qamus (Dua ya Bahari), Shaykh Mirza al-Nuri, aliyetukuka na mwaminifu – Allah amuenzi kaburi lake – ameiorodhesha dua hii katika kitabu chake kiitwacho al-Sahifah al-Alawiyyah, akiongeza, "Dua hii imefafanuliwa na wanazuoni mashuhuri wa talismans na sayansi za kiroho kwa maneno ya ajabu yanayorejelea athari za kustaajabisha zitokanazo na kuisoma." Hata hivyo, sitarejelea maelezo haya kwa sababu siwezi kutegemea usahihi wake. بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمْنِ الرَّحِيْمِ
Bismi Allāhi ar-Raḥmāni ar-raḥīmi
In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful
Kwa Jina la Allah, Mwingi wa Rehema, Mwenye Kurehemu
رَبِّ اَذخِلْنِي فِي لُجَةٍ بَخرِ اَحَدِيَّتِكَ
Rabbi adhkhilnī fī lujatin bakhri aḥadiyyatika
O my Lord, include me with the profundity of the ocean of Your Oneness
Ee Mola wangu, niweke ndani ya kilindi cha bahari ya Upweke Wako
وَ طَمْطَامِ يَمِّ وَحْدَانِيَّتِكَ
Wa ṭamṭāmi yammi waḥdāniyyatika
and in the enormity of the sea of Your singleness.
na katika ukubwa wa bahari ya Upekee Wako.
وَ قَوَّنِي بِقُوَّةِ سَطْوَةِ سُلَطَانِ فَرْدَانِيَتِكَ
Wa qawwanī biquwwati saṭwati sulaṭāni fardāniyatika
Strengthen me with the strength of the influence of the authority of Your Uniqueness
Na niongezee nguvu kwa nguvu ya ushawishi wa mamlaka ya Upekee Wako
حَثَّى اَخْرُجَ إِلَى فَضَآءِ سَعَةٍ رَحْمَتِكَ
Ḥatthā akhruja ʾilā faḍaʾāʾi saʿatin raḥmatika
so that when I come out to the space of the breadth of Your mercy,
ili nitakapokuja katika nafasi pana ya rehema Yako,
وَ فِيْ وَجْهِيْ لَمَعَاتُ بَرْقِ الْقُرْبِ مِنْ اثَارِ حِمَايَتِكَ
Wa fī wajhī lamaʿātu barqi al-qurbi min athāri ḥimāyatika
my face will have the twinkles of the shining of the nearness to the traces of Your protection,
uso wangu uwe na mng'ao wa umeme wa ukaribu kutokana na athari za ulinzi Wako,
مَهِيْبًا بِهَيْبَتِكَ
Mahīban bihaybatika
being venerable out of Your venerability,
nikiwa mwenye heshima kutokana na Utukufu Wako,
عَزِيْزًا بِعِنَايَتِكَ
ʿazīzan biʿināyatika
mighty out of Your care (for me),
mwenye nguvu kutokana na Ulinzi Wako (kwangu),
مُتَجَلَّلًا مُكَرَّمَا
Mutajallalan mukarramā
esteemed, and honored
nikiwa mwenye kuthaminiwa na kuheshimiwa
بِتَعْلِيْمِكَ وَ تَرْكِيَتِكَ
Bitaʿlīmika wa tarkiyatika
out of Your instruction and purity.
kutokana na mafundisho Yako na utakaso Wako.
وَ اَلْبِسْنِي خِلَعَ الْعِزَّةِ وَ الْقَبُوْلِ
Wa al-bisnī khilaʿa al-ʿizzati wa al-qabūli
Dress me with the garments of dignity and tolerability,
Na univishe mavazi ya heshima na kukubalika,
وَ سَهَلْ لِيْ مَنَاهِجَ الْوُصْلَةِ وَ الْوُصُوْلِ
Wa sahal lī manāhija al-wuṣlati wa al-wuṣūli
make easy for me to attain the courses of communication and attainment (to You),
na unifanyie wepesi kufikia njia za mawasiliano na kukufikia (Wewe),
وَ تَوَّجْنِي بِتَاجِ الْكَرَامَةِ وَ الْوَقَارِ
Wa tawwajnī bitāji al-karāmati wa al-waqāri
adorn me with the crown of decorum and solemnity,
na unikabidhi taji la heshima na utulivu,
وَ آَلَفْ بَيْنِي وَ بَيْنَ آَحِبَآئِكَ
Wa ālaf baynī wa bayna āḥibaʾāʾika
and put affection between your beloved ones and me
na uweke mapenzi baina yangu na wapenzi Wako
فِيْ دَارِ الدُّنْيَا وَ دَارِ الْقَرَارِ
Fī dāri ad-dunyā wa dāri al-qarāri
in this worldly abode as well as the Abode of Enduring Settlement.
katika makao haya ya dunia na pia Makao ya Kudumu.
وَ ازْزُقْنِيْ مِنْ نُوْرِ اسْمِكَ هَيْبَةً وَ سَطْوَةً
Wa azzuqnī min nūri asmika haybatan wa saṭwatan
Out of the illumination of Your Name, confer upon me with honor and authority
Kutokana na nuru ya Jina Lako, nipe heshima na mamlaka
تَنْقَادُ لِيَ الْقُلَوْبُ وَ الْاَزْوَاحِ
Tanqādu liya al-qulawbu wa al-āzwāḥi
due to which all hearts and souls will submit to me,
ambayo kwayo nyoyo zote na roho zitatii kwangu,
وَ تَخْضَعُ لَدَيَّ النُّفُوْسُ وَ الْاشبَاحُ
Wa takhḍaʿu ladayya an-nufūsu wa al-āshbāḥu
and all selves and ghosts will succumb to me.
na nafsi zote na vizuka vitanyenyekea kwangu.
يَا مَنْ ذَلَتْ لَهُ رِقَابُ الْجَبَابِرَةِ
Yā man dhalat lahu riqābu al-jabābirati
O He to Whom all the tyrants surrender,
Ewe ambaye kwake madhalimu wote hujisalimisha,
وَ خَضَعَتْ لَدَيْهِ اَعْنَاقُ الْاَكَاسِرَةِ
Wa khaḍaʿat ladayhi aʿnāqu al-ākāsirati
and before Whom all the kings submit!
na mbele Yake wafalme wote hunyenyekea!
لَا مَلْجَآَ وَ لَا مَنْجَى مِثْكَ اِلَّا اِلَيْكَ
Lā maljaʾā wa lā manjā mithka al-ā al-yka
There is neither shelter nor refuge (to protect) against You save to You,
Hakuna makazi wala pa kukimbilia dhidi Yako isipokuwa Kwako,
وَ لَا اِعَانَةَ اِلَّا بِكَ
Wa lā iʿānata al-ā bika
there is no help save through You,
hakuna msaada isipokuwa kupitia Wewe,
وَ لَا اِتَّكَاءَ اِلَّا عَلَيْكَ
Wa lā ittakāʾa al-ā ʿalayka
and there is no reliance save upon You.
na hakuna kutegemea isipokuwa Kwako.
اِذْفَعْ عَنَّيْ كَيْدَ الْحَاسِدِيْنَ،
Idhfaʿ ʿannay kayda al-ḥāsidīna,
Repel against me the trickeries of the envious ones
Niondolee hila za wenye wivu
وَ ظُلُمَاتٍ شَرِّ الْمُعَانِدِينَ
Wa ẓulumātin sharri al-muʿānidīna
and the murk of the evils of the stubborn ones.
na giza la shari za wakaidi.
وَ ازحَمْنِي تَحْتَ سُرَادِقَاتٍ عَرْشِكَ
Wa azḥamnī taḥta surādiqātin ʿarshika
Have mercy upon me under the pavilion of Your Throne;
Na unirehemu chini ya hema la Kiti Chako cha Enzi;
يَا اكْرَمَ الاكْرَمِيْنَ
Yā akrama al-ākramīna
O most Generous of all those who show generosity!
Ewe Mkarimu kuliko wakarimu wote!
آَيَّذْ ظَاهِرِيْ فِيْ تَحْصِيلِ مَرَاضِيْكَ
Āyyadh ẓāhirī fī taḥṣīli marāḍīka
Aid my appearance to attain Your pleasure
Saidia kudhihirisha kwangu kufikia radhi Zako
وَ نَوّزْ قَلْبِيْ وَ سِرِّيْ بِالْإِطْلَاعِ عَلَى مَنَاهِجٍ مَسَاعِيْكَ
Wa nawwz qalbī wa sirrī biālʾiṭlāʿi ʿalā manāhijin masāʿīka
and illuminate my heart and inner self by making me acquainted with the courses to acting for Your sake.
na ujaaze nuru moyo wangu na siri yangu kwa kunijulisha njia za kutenda kwa ajili Yako.
اِلْهِي كَيْفَ اَصدُرُ عَنْ بَابِكَ بِخَيْبَةِ مِنْكَ
Al-hī kayfa aṣduru ʿan bābika bikhaybati minka
O my God, how does it come that I leave Your Door with disappointment
Ee Mungu wangu, itakuwaje niondoke Mlangoni Kwako nikiwa nimefeli
وَ قَدْ وَرَذْتُهُ عَلَى ثِقَةٍ بِكَ
Wa qad waradhtuhu ʿalā thiqatin bika
after I had come to it with full faith in You?
na hali nimekuja Kwako nikiwa na imani kamili Kwako?
وَ كَيْفَ تُوؤْيِسُنِيْ [تُوْئِسُنِي] مِنْ عَطَائِكَ
Wa kayfa tūʾyisunī tūʾisunī min ʿaṭāʾika
How is it possible that You drive me to despair of Your endowment
Itawezekanaje Unitie tamaa ya kukata kauli juu ya Neema Zako
وَ قَدْ اَمَرْتَنِيْ بِدُعَائِكَ
Wa qad amartanī biduʿāʾika
after You have instructed me to pray to You?
na hali Umekuwa Umeniamrisha Kukuomba?
وَ هَا اَنَا مُقْبِلَ عَلَيْكَ
Wa hā anā muqbila ʿalayka
Here I am coming to You
Na hapa mimi naja Kwako
مُلْتَجِئُ اِلَيْكَ
Multajiʾu al-yka
seeking shelter with You.
nikitafuta hifadhi Kwako.
بَاعِذْ بَيْنِي وَ بَيْنَ اَعْدَآئِي
Bāʿidh baynī wa bayna aʿdaʾāʾī
Keep me far away from my enemies
Nitenge mbali na maadui zangu
كَمَا بَاعَدْتَ بَيْنَ اَعْدَآئِي
Kamā bāʿadta bayna aʿdaʾāʾī
just as You have kept my enemies far away from one another.
kama vile Ulivyowatenga mbali maadui zangu wao kwa wao.
اخْتَطِفْ اَبْصَارَهُمْ عَنَّيْ
Akhtaṭif abṣārahum ʿannay
Take their sights away from me
Waondoe macho yao kwangu
بِنُوْرِ قُدْسِكَ
Binūri qudsika
through the Light of Your Holiness
kupitia Nuru ya Utakatifu Wako
وَ جَلَالٍ مَجْدِكَ
Wa jalālin majdika
and the Grandeur of Your Glory.
na Ukuu wa Utukufu Wako.
اِنَّكَ اَنْتَ اللّٰهُ
Innaka anta Allāhu
You are verily Allah
Hakika Wewe Ndiwe Allah
الْمُعْطِي جَلَائِلَ النَّعَمِ الْمُكَرَّمَةِ
Al-muʿṭī jalāʾila an-naʿami al-mukarramati
Who confers with the splendid honoring graces
Ambaye hutoa neema tukufu za heshima
لِمَنْ نَاجَاكَ بِلَطَائِفِ رَحمَتِكَ
Liman nājāka bilaṭāʾifi raḥmatika
upon those who secretly pray to You out of Your tremendous mercy.
kwa wale wanaokuomba kwa siri kutokana na rehema Yako kuu.
يَا حَيُّ يَا قَيُّوْمُ
Yā ḥayyu yā qayyūmu
O Ever-living, O Self-subsisting,
Ewe Uliye Hai, Ewe Usimamizi wa Kila Kitu,
يَا ذَا الْجَلَال وَ الْاِكْرَامِ
Yā dhā al-jalāl wa al-ākrāmi
O Lord of Glory and Honor!
Ewe Mwenye Utukufu na Heshima!
وَ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلْى سَيَّدِنَا وَ نَبِيَّنَا مُحَمَّدٍ
Wa ṣallā Allāhu ʿalā sayyadinā wa nabiyyanā muḥammadin
May Allah send blessings to our master and Prophet, Muhammad,
Na Allah amrehemu bwana wetu na Nabii wetu, Muhammad,
وَ ألِهِ اَجْمَعِينَ الطَّيّبِينَ الطَّاهِرِيْنَ.
Wa ʾlihi ajmaʿīna aṭ-ṭayybīna aṭ-ṭāhirīna.
and upon all of his Household-the purified and immaculate.
na juu ya Ahlul Bayt wake wote – wale wema na safi.
