Dua of a Mother for Her Ailing Child

Instructions
اَللَّهُمَّ رَبِّ اَنْتَ اعْطَيْتَنِيْهِ...
It is reported that when a child is ailed, the mother may ascend to a roof, throw the head cover away, expose the hair of her head under the sky, prostrate herself, and say the following supplication:
اَللَّهُمَّ رَبِّ اَنْتَ اعْطَيْتَنِيْهِ
O Allah, O my Lord! It is You Who have given him to me
وَ أَنْتَ وَهَبْتَهُ لِىْ
and it is You Who have endued me with Him.
اَللَّهُمَّ فَاجْعَلْ هِبَثَكَ الْيَوْمَ جَدِيْدَةً
O Allah, so (please) renew Your donation to me on this day.
اِنَّكَ قَادِرْ مُقْتَدِر.
You are verily all-powerful and omnipotent.
Instructions
The mother will not raise her head from the prostration but that her child is restored to health.
Instructions
With reference to removal of diseases, al-Shahid has also reported that the right arm of a patient may be held while reciting Surah al-Faatehah seven times. After that, the following supplicatory prayer may be said:
اَللَهُمَّ اَزِلْ عَنْهُ الْعِلَلَ وَالدَّاءَ
O Allah, (please) remove ailments and maladies from him,
وَ أَعِدْهُ إِلَى الصِّحَةِ وَالشَّفَآءِ
restore him to health and cure,
وَ أَمِدَّهُ بِحُسْنِ الْوِقَايَةِ
supply him with excellent protection,
وَ رُدَّهُ إِلَى حُسْنِ الْعَافِيَةِ
return him to excellent wellbeing,
وَاجْعَلْ مَا نَالَهُ فِى مَرَضِهِ هَذَا مَآدَّةً لِحَيوتِهِ
and cause what has afflicted him in this ailment of him to be material of his life
وَ كَفَّارَةً لِسَيِّئَاتِهِ
and remission of his evildoings.
اَللَّهُمَّ وَ صَلَّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَاَلِ مُحَمَّدٍ.
O Allah, (please) bless Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad.
Instructions
Imam al-Sadiq(a.s.) is reported to have said: Allah will certainly cure any ailed believer who says the following verse sincerely while rubbing his ailed organ with his hand:
وَ نُنَزَّلُ مِنَ الْقُرْأْنِ مَا هُوَ شِفَآءُ وَ رَحْمَةٌ للْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ.
[And] We reveal of the Qur'an that which is a healing and a mercy for believers.
Instructions
Imam al-Rida(a.s.) is reported to have said: For all ailments, you may say the following supplicatory prayer:
يَا مُنْزِلَ الشَّفَآءِ وَ مُذْهِبَ الدَّاءِ
O revealer of cure and remover of remedy,
صَلَ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ اَلِه
(please) bless Muhammad and his Household
وَ اَنْزِلَ عَلَى وَجَعِى الشَّفَاءَ.
and reveal cure upon my ailment.
Instructions
Ibn 'Abbas is reported to have said that he was once present with Imam Ali(a.s.) when a faint-faced man visited him and said, "O Commander of the Faithful, l am diseased person and many ailments and aches have afflicted me. So, please teach me a supplicatory prayer that helps me endure my ailments." Answering him, Imam Ali(a.s.) said, "I will lead you to a supplicatory prayer that was taught by Archangel Gabriel to the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) When al-Hasan and al-Husayn fell ill. This is it:
اِلْهِن كُلَّمَا اَنْعَمْتَ عَلَىَّ نِعْمَةً
O my God, whenever You bestow upon me a favor,
قَلّ لَكَ عِنْدَهَا شُكْرِىْ
I am too short to thank it properly.
وَ كُلَّمَا ابْتَلَيْتَنِن بِبَلِيَّةِ
Whenever You test me with a tribulation,
قَلَّ لَكَ عِنْدَهَا صَبْدِيْ
I am too short to endure it.
فَيَامَنْ قَلَّ شُكْرِئٰ عِنْدَ نِعَمِهِ فَلَمْ يَخْرِمْنِى
O He Whose favors have not been thanked by me properly; yet, He has not deprived me of them!
وَ يَا مَنْ قَلّ صَبْرِىٰ عِنْدَ بَلَائِهِ فَلَمْ يَخْذُلْنِى
O He Whose tribulations have not been endured by me properly; yet, He has not disappointed me!
وَ يَا مَنْ رَانِن عَلَى الْمَعَاصِى فَلَمْ يَفْضَحْنِن
O He Who has seen me committing acts of disobedience to Him; yet, He has not exposed me!
وَ يَا مَنْ رَانِى عَلَى الْخَطَايَا فَلَمْ يُعَاقِبْنِى عَلَيْهَا
O He Who has seen me committing wrongdoings, yet, He has not punished me for them!
صَلَّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ ٱَلِ مُحَمَّدٍ
(Please) bless Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad,
وَاغْفِزْ لِىْ ذَنْبِىْ
forgive my sin
وَ اشفِنِى مِنْ مَرَضِىْ
and cure me of my ailment.
اِنَّكَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْئٍ قَدِيْرٌ.
Verily, You have power over all things.
Instructions
It is reported that al-Najashi, an ancient king of Abyssinia, inherited from his fathers a four hundred year old bonnet that appeases any pain that it touches. When the bonnet was untied to inspect its secret, the following supplicatory prayer was seen written therein:
بِسْمِ اللهِ الْمَلِكِ الحَقَّ الْمُبِيْنِ
In the Name of Allah, the King and the Manifest Truth
شَهدَاللهُ آَنَّهُ لَا اِلْهَ اِلّا هَوَ
Allah is witness that there is no god save Him.
وَ الْمَلَائِكَةُ وَ أُوْلُوا الْعِلْمِ
The angels and the men of learning too are witness.
قائِمًا بِالْقِسْطِ
Maintaining His creation in justice,
لَا اِلْهَ اِلَّا هُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الْحَكِيمُ
there is no god save Him, the Almighty and Wise.
اِنَّ الدِّيْنَ عِنْدَاللهِ الْإِسْلَامُ
Lo! The religion with Allah is Islam.
للهِ نُوْرٌ وَحِكْمَةُ
To Allah there are light, wisdom,
وَ حَوْلٌ وَ قُوَّةٌ
might, power,
وَ قُدْرَةٌ وَ سُلْطَانٌ وَ بُرْهَانٌ
omnipotence, authority, and clear evidence.
لَا إِلْهَ اِلَّا اللهُ
There is no god save Allah.
ادَمُ صَفِىُّ اللهِ
Adam is the choice of Allah.
لَا اِلْهَ إلّا اللهُ
There is no god save Allah.
اِبْرَاهِيْمُ خَلِيْلُ اللهِ
Abraham is the friend of Allah.
لَا اِلْهَ اِلَّا اللهُ
There is no god save Allah.
مُؤْسى كَلِيْمُ اللهِ
Moses is the spoken by Allah.
لَا اِلْهَ اِلّا اللهُ
There is no god save Allah.
مُحَمَّدٌ الْعَرَبِىُّ رَسُوْلُ اللهِ
Muhammad the Arab is the messenger of Allah,
وَ حَبِيْبُهُ وَ خِيَرَتُهُ مِنْ خَلْقِهِ
as well as His most, beloved and best of all His creatures.
أَسكُنْ يَا جَمِيْعَ الْاَوْجَاعِ
Calm down, O all pains,
وَ الْاَسْقَامِ وَ الْاَمْرَاضِ
illnesses, diseases,
وَ جَمِيْعَ الْعِلَل
all ailments,
وَ جَمِيْعَ الحُمَّيَاتِ
and all fevers.
سَكَّنْثُكَ بِالَذِي سَكَنَ لَهُ مَا فِي اللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ
I make you calm down in the name of the One to Whom whatsoever in the night and daylight rests
وَ هُوَ السَّمِيْعُ العَلِيْمُ
and He is the Allhearing and Allknowing.
وَ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَى خَيْرٍ خَلْقِهِ
May Allah bless the best of His creatures;
مُحَمَّدٍ وَ الِهِ اَجْمَعِيْنَ.
Muhammad, and his entire Household.
