It is reported that when a child is ailed, the mother may ascend to a roof, throw the head cover away, expose the hair of her head under the sky, prostrate herself, and say the following supplication:
Inaripotiwa kwamba mtoto anapougua, mama anaweza kupanda juu ya paa, akatupa utaji (kifuniko cha kichwa) mbali, akaacha wazi nywele za kichwa chake chini ya mbingu, akasujudu, na kusema dua ifuatayo:
اَللَّهُمَّ رَبِّ اَنْتَ اعْطَيْتَنِيْهِ
Allāhumma rabbi anta aʿṭaytanīhi
O Allah, O my Lord! It is You Who have given him to me
Ee Mwenyezi Mungu, Ee Mola wangu! Ni Wewe Ndiye uliyempa kwangu
O Allah, so (please) renew Your donation to me on this day.
Ee Mwenyezi Mungu, basi (tafadhali) fanya upya zawadi Yako kwangu siku hii ya leo.
اِنَّكَ قَادِرْ مُقْتَدِر.
Innaka qādir muqtadir.
You are verily all-powerful and omnipotent.
Hakika Wewe ni Mwenye uwezo na nguvu zote.
Instructions
The mother will not raise her head from the prostration but that her child is restored to health.
Mama hataulenga kichwa chake kutoka kwenye kusujudu isipokuwa mtoto wake atakuwa amerejeshewa afya yake.

With reference to removal of diseases, al-Shahid has also reported that the right arm of a patient may be held while reciting Surah al-Faatehah seven times. After that, the following supplicatory prayer may be said:
Kuhusu kuondosha magonjwa, al-Shahid amepokea pia kwamba mkono wa kulia wa mgonjwa unaweza kushikwa huku ukisoma Surah al-Fatihah mara saba. Baada ya hapo, dua ifuatayo inaweza kusomwa:
اَللَهُمَّ اَزِلْ عَنْهُ الْعِلَلَ وَالدَّاءَ
Allāhumma azil ʿanhu al-ʿilala wālddāʾa
O Allah, (please) remove ailments and maladies from him,
Ee Mwenyezi Mungu, (tafadhali) muondoshee maradhi na magonjwa,
Allāhumma wa ṣalla ʿalā muḥammadin wāli muḥammadin.
O Allah, (please) bless Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad.
Ee Mwenyezi Mungu, (tafadhali) mbariki Muhammad na Alizake Muhammad.
Instructions
Imam al-Sadiq(a.s.) is reported to have said: Allah will certainly cure any ailed believer who says the following verse sincerely while rubbing his ailed organ with his hand:
Inaripotiwa kutoka kwa Imam al-Sadiq (a.s.) kwamba amesema: Hakika Mwenyezi Mungu atamponya muumini yeyote mgonjwa anayesoma aya ifuatayo kwa ikhlasi huku akisugua kiungo chake kinachouma kwa mkono wake:
Wa nunazzalu mina al-qurʾni mā huwa shifaʾāʾu wa raḥmatun llmuʾminīna.
[And] We reveal of the Qur'an that which is a healing and a mercy for believers.
Na tunateremsha katika Qur'ani yale ambayo ni ponyo na rehema kwa waumini.
Instructions
Imam al-Rida(a.s.) is reported to have said: For all ailments, you may say the following supplicatory prayer:
Inaripotiwa kutoka kwa Imam al-Rida (a.s.) kwamba amesema: Kwa magonjwa yote, unaweza kusoma dua ifuatayo:
يَا مُنْزِلَ الشَّفَآءِ وَ مُذْهِبَ الدَّاءِ
Yā munzila ash-shafaʾāʾi wa mudhhiba ad-dāʾi
O revealer of cure and remover of remedy,
Ee Mteremshaji wa ponyo na Mwenye kuondosha maradhi,
صَلَ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ اَلِه
Ṣala ʿalā muḥammadin wa al-h
(please) bless Muhammad and his Household
(tafadhali) mbariki Muhammad na Alizake,
وَ اَنْزِلَ عَلَى وَجَعِى الشَّفَاءَ.
Wa anzila ʿalā wajaʿiā ash-shafāʾa.
and reveal cure upon my ailment.
na teremsha ponyo juu ya maumivu yangu.

Ibn 'Abbas is reported to have said that he was once present with Imam Ali(a.s.) when a faint-faced man visited him and said, "O Commander of the Faithful, l am diseased person and many ailments and aches have afflicted me. So, please teach me a supplicatory prayer that helps me endure my ailments." Answering him, Imam Ali(a.s.) said, "I will lead you to a supplicatory prayer that was taught by Archangel Gabriel to the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) When al-Hasan and al-Husayn fell ill. This is it:
Inaripotiwa kutoka kwa Ibn 'Abbas akisema kwamba aliwahi kuwa pamoja na Imam Ali (a.s.) wakati mtu mwenye uso uliokongoroka alipomtembelea na kusema, 'Ee Amiri wa Waumini, mimi ni mgonjwa na maradhi mengi pamoja na maumivu yamenisibu. Basi, tafadhali nifundishe dua itakayonisaidia kuvumilia maradhi yangu.' Akimjibu, Imam Ali (a.s.) alisema, 'Nitakuongoza kwenye dua aliyofundishwa Mtume Mtukufu (s.a.w.w.) na Malaika Jibril wakati al-Hasan na al-Husayn walipougua. Nayo ni hii:
Wa yā man rāniā ʿalā al-khaṭāyā falam yuʿāqibniā ʿalayhā
O He Who has seen me committing wrongdoings, yet, He has not punished me for them!
Ee Ambaye ameniona nikitenda makosa, lakini Hakuniadhibu kwa ajili ya makosa hayo!
صَلَّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ ٱَلِ مُحَمَّدٍ
Ṣalla ʿalā muḥammadin wa ali muḥammadin
(Please) bless Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad,
(Tafadhali) mbariki Muhammad na Alizake Muhammad,
وَاغْفِزْ لِىْ ذَنْبِىْ
Wāghfiz liā dhanbiā
forgive my sin
nisamehe dhambi zangu
وَ اشفِنِى مِنْ مَرَضِىْ
Wa ashfiniā min maraḍiā
and cure me of my ailment.
na niponye kutokana na ugonjwa wangu.
اِنَّكَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْئٍ قَدِيْرٌ.
Innaka ʿalā kulli shayʾin qadīrun.
Verily, You have power over all things.
Hakika Wewe ni Muweza wa kila kitu.
Instructions
It is reported that al-Najashi, an ancient king of Abyssinia, inherited from his fathers a four hundred year old bonnet that appeases any pain that it touches. When the bonnet was untied to inspect its secret, the following supplicatory prayer was seen written therein:
Inaripotiwa kwamba al-Najashi, mfalme wa zamani wa Uhabeshi, alirithi kutoka kwa baba zake kofia ya miaka mia nne iliyotuliza maumivu yoyote yaliyoguza kofia hiyo. Kofia hiyo ilipofunguliwa ili kuchunguza siri yake, dua ifuatayo ilikutwa imeandikwa ndani yake:
بِسْمِ اللهِ الْمَلِكِ الحَقَّ الْمُبِيْنِ
Bismi Allāhi al-maliki al-ḥaqqa al-mubīni
In the Name of Allah, the King and the Manifest Truth
Kwa Jina la Mwenyezi Mungu, Mfalme, Ukweli Ulio Wazi
شَهدَاللهُ آَنَّهُ لَا اِلْهَ اِلّا هَوَ
Shahdāllhu ānnahu lā al-ha al-ā hawa
Allah is witness that there is no god save Him.
Mwenyezi Mungu anashuhudia kwamba hapana mungu ila Yeye.
وَ الْمَلَائِكَةُ وَ أُوْلُوا الْعِلْمِ
Wa al-malāʾikatu wa ʾūlūā al-ʿilmi
The angels and the men of learning too are witness.
Na malaika pamoja na wenye elimu pia wanashuhudia.
قائِمًا بِالْقِسْطِ
Qāʾiman biālqisṭi
Maintaining His creation in justice,
Mwenye kusimamia uadilifu,
لَا اِلْهَ اِلَّا هُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الْحَكِيمُ
Lā al-ha al-ā huwa al-ʿazīzu al-ḥakīmu
there is no god save Him, the Almighty and Wise.
hapana mungu ila Yeye, Mwenye Nguvu, Mwenye Hekima.
اِنَّ الدِّيْنَ عِنْدَاللهِ الْإِسْلَامُ
Inna ad-dīna ʿindāllhi al-ʾislāmu
Lo! The religion with Allah is Islam.
Hakika dini mbele ya Mwenyezi Mungu ni Uislamu.
للهِ نُوْرٌ وَحِكْمَةُ
Lillāhi nūrun waḥikmatu
To Allah there are light, wisdom,
Ni vya Mwenyezi Mungu nuru na hekima,
وَ حَوْلٌ وَ قُوَّةٌ
Wa ḥawlun wa quwwatun
might, power,
nguvu na mamlaka,
وَ قُدْرَةٌ وَ سُلْطَانٌ وَ بُرْهَانٌ
Wa qudratun wa sulṭānun wa burhānun
omnipotence, authority, and clear evidence.
uwezo, mamlaka, na ushahidi ulio wazi.
لَا إِلْهَ اِلَّا اللهُ
Lā ʾilha al-ā Allāhu
There is no god save Allah.
Hapana mungu ila Mwenyezi Mungu.
ادَمُ صَفِىُّ اللهِ
Adamu ṣafiā Allāhi
Adam is the choice of Allah.
Adamu ni mteule wa Mwenyezi Mungu.
لَا اِلْهَ إلّا اللهُ
Lā al-ha ʾllā Allāhu
There is no god save Allah.
Hapana mungu ila Mwenyezi Mungu.
اِبْرَاهِيْمُ خَلِيْلُ اللهِ
Ibrāhīmu khalīlu Allāhi
Abraham is the friend of Allah.
Ibrahimu ni rafiki wa Mwenyezi Mungu.
لَا اِلْهَ اِلَّا اللهُ
Lā al-ha al-ā Allāhu
There is no god save Allah.
Hapana mungu ila Mwenyezi Mungu.
مُؤْسى كَلِيْمُ اللهِ
Muʾsā kalīmu Allāhi
Moses is the spoken by Allah.
Musa ni msemaji wa Mwenyezi Mungu.
لَا اِلْهَ اِلّا اللهُ
Lā al-ha al-ā Allāhu
There is no god save Allah.
Hapana mungu ila Mwenyezi Mungu.
مُحَمَّدٌ الْعَرَبِىُّ رَسُوْلُ اللهِ
Muḥammadun al-ʿarabiā rasūlu Allāhi
Muhammad the Arab is the messenger of Allah,
Muhammad Mwarabu ni Mtume wa Mwenyezi Mungu,
وَ حَبِيْبُهُ وَ خِيَرَتُهُ مِنْ خَلْقِهِ
Wa ḥabībuhu wa khiyaratuhu min khalqihi
as well as His most, beloved and best of all His creatures.
