Dua for the First Hour — Full Arabic Text, Translation & Transliteration

Instructions

مروي عن الأئمة المعصومين عليهم السلام في كتب الأدعية المعتبرة.

The first hour of the day, which is the space of time between dawn (fajr) and sunrise, is dedicated to Imam Ali Ameer al-Momineen (a.s.). The supplication at this hour is as follows:

اَللَهُمَّ رَبَّ الْبَهَاءِ وَالْعَظَمَةِ

O Allah, O Lord of brilliance, greatness,

وَالْكِبْرِيَاءِ وَالسُّلْطَانِ

grandeur, and authority!

اَظْهَرْتَ الْقُدْرَةَ كَيْفَ شِنْتَ

You have demonstrated the power as You wished,

وَ مَنَثْتَ عَلَى عِبَادِكَ بِمَغْفِرَتِكَ

bestowed upon Your servants with Your forgiveness,

وَ تَسَلَّظْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ بِجَبَرُوْتِكَ

dominated over them with Your supremacy,

وَ عَلَّمْتَهُمْ شُكْرَ نِعْمَتِكَ

and taught them how to thank Your graces.

اَللَّهُمَ فَبِحَقَّ عَلِيَّ الْمُرْتَضى لِلدِّيْنِ

O Allah, in the name of 'Ali, the well-pleased for the religion,

وَالْعَالِمِ بِالْحُكْمِ وَ مَجَارِى التُّقَى

the well-versed with the judgment and the streams of piety,

اِمَامِ الْمُتَّقِيْنَ

and the leader of the pious,

صَلَّ عَلْى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ ألِهِ فِي الْاَوَلِيْنَ وَالْاخِرِيْنَ

(please) send blessings upon Muhammad and his Household among the past and the coming generations,

وَ أَقَدَّمُهُ بَيْنَ يَدَىٰ حَوَائِجِى

and I present him (i.e. Ali) as my mediation for the settling of my needs,

You may now mention your needs.

آَنْ تُصَلَّىَ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَأَلِ مُحَمَّدِ وَ آَنْ تَفْعَلَ بى كَذا وَ كَذا..

(You may say): that You send blessings upon Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad and do for me so and so...
