DUA FOR PARDONING OF SINS
Nineteenth: In his book of al-Majalis, al-Mufid has reported
the following narration from Muhammad ibn al-Hanafiyyah
(Imam Ali's son):
While the Commander of the Faithful (a.s.) was
circumambulating the Holy House (of Allah; i.e. the Ka'bah),
he saw a man handing to the curtains of the Ka'bah and
praying Almighty Allah with the coming supplication.
"Has this supplication been composed by you?" Imam Ali
asked.
DUA YA KUSAMEHEWA DHAMBI. La kumi na tisa: Katika kitabu chake cha al-Majalis, al-Mufid ameripoti simulizi ifuatayo kutoka kwa Muhammad ibn al-Hanafiyyah (mwana wa Imam Ali): Wakati Amiri wa Waumini (a.s.) alipokuwa akizunguka Nyumba Takatifu (ya Mwenyezi Mungu; yaani Ka'bah), alimuona mtu akishikilia mapazia ya Ka'bah na kumuomba Mwenyezi Mungu dua ifuatayo. Imam Ali aliuliza: "Je, dua hii imetungwa na wewe?"
يَا مَنْ لَا يَشَغَلُهُ سَمْعُ عَنْ سَمْعٍ
Yā man lā yashaghaluhu samʿu ʿan samʿin
O He whom one hearing does not distract from another hearing
Ewe ambaye kusikia kwako kusikilizwa kumoja hakumshughulishi na kusikia kwingine
يَا مَنْ لَا يُغَلَّطُهُ السَّائِلُوْنَ
Yā man lā yughallaṭuhu as-sāʾilūna
O He whom those who ask do not confuse
Ewe ambaye waombaji hawamchanganyi
وَيَا مَنْ لَا يُنْرِمُهُ اِلْحَاحُ الْمُلِحَيْنَ
Wayā man lā yunrimuhu al-ḥāḥu al-muliḥayna
And O He whom the persistence of the persistent does not annoy
Na Ewe ambaye kusisitiza kwa wanaosisitiza hakumkwazi
اَذِقْنِى بَرْدَ عَفْوِكَ وَمَغْفِرَتِكَ
Adhiqniā barda ʿafwika wamaghfiratika
Let me taste the coolness of Your pardon and Your forgiveness
Nionjeshe ubaridi wa msamaha wako na maghufira yako
