مروي عن الأئمة المعصومين عليهم السلام في كتب الأدعية المعتبرة.
Be it known to you that the first thing you should do at sunset is to hurry to the mosque. When the sun is colored yellowish, you may say the following supplication:
Ijulikane kwako kwamba jambo la kwanza unalopaswa kufanya wakati wa machweo ni kuharakisha kwenda msikitini. Jua linapokuwa na rangi ya manjano, unaweza kusoma dua ifuatayo:
اَمْسْى ظُلْمِى مُسْتَجِيْرًا بِعَفْوِكَ
Amsā ẓulmiā mustajīran biʿafwika
In this evening, my wrongdoing is taking shelter in Your pardon,
Katika jioni hii, dhulma yangu inajikinga katika msamaha Wako,
and my mortal face is taking shelter in Your Face, the Undying and Perpetual.
na uso wangu wenye kutoweka unajikinga kwa Uso Wako, usioisha na wa Milele.
اَللَّهُمَّ الْبِسْنِى عَافِيَتَكَ
Allāhumma al-bisniā ʿāfiyataka
O Allah, (please) dress me with Your wellbeing,
Ee Mwenyezi Mungu, (tafadhali) nivike afya Yako,
وَغَشَّنِن بِرَحْمَتِكَ
Waghasshanin biraḥmatika
cover me with Your mercy,
na unifunike kwa rehema Yako,
وَجَلَّلْنِى كَرَامَتَكَ
Wajallalniā karāmataka
overshadow me with Your honoring,
na unigubike kwa ukarimu Wako,
وَقِنِى شَرَّ خَلْقِكَ مِنَ الْحِنِّ وَالْاِنْسِ
Waqiniā sharra khalqika mina al-ḥinni wālānsi
and protect me against the evils of Your creatures— jinn and men.
na unilinde dhidi ya shari ya viumbe Vyako—majini na wanadamu.
يَآ اَللهُ يَا رَحْمْنُ يَا رَحِيْمُ.
Yaʾā Allāhu yā raḥmnu yā raḥīmu.
O Allah! O All-beneficent! O All-merciful!
Ee Mwenyezi Mungu! Ee Mwingi wa Rehema! Ee Mwenye Kurehemu!
At that time, it is highly advisable to engage yourself in uttering expressions of glorification of Almighty Allah and implorations for His forgiveness, because this hour is as same honorable and estimable as the pre-sunrise hour, as Almighty Allah has said in the Holy Qur'an:
Wakati huo, inapendekezwa sana kujishughulisha na kutoa maneno ya kumtukuza Mwenyezi Mungu Mkuu na kuomba msamaha Wake, kwa sababu saa hii ina heshima na utukufu sawa na saa ya kabla ya mawio ya jua, kama Mwenyezi Mungu Mkuu alivyosema katika Quran Tukufu:
Wa sabbakhi biḥamdi rabbika qabla ṭulūʿi ash-shamsi wa qabla al-ghuruwubi.
And sing the praise of your Lord before the rising of the sun and before the setting.
Na mtukuze kwa sifa za Mola wako mlezi kabla ya kuchomoza jua na kabla ya kuchwa.
Imam al-Sadiq(a.s.) is reported to have said, 'When the color of the sun changes (i.e. the sun is about to set), you must remember Allah the Almighty and Majestic. If you are at that hour with one who preoccupies you from this, you must leave him and supplicate.'
Imepokelewa kutoka kwa Imam al-Sadiq (a.s.) akisema, 'Wakati rangi ya jua inapobadilika (yaani jua likiwa karibu kuzama), lazima umkumbuke Mwenyezi Mungu Mwenye Nguvu na Mtukufu. Ikiwa uko katika saa hiyo na mtu anayekushughulisha na jambo hili, lazima umwache na uombe.'
Instructions
The supplication to be said at sunset is the following:
Dua ya kusomwa wakati wa machweo ni hii ifuatayo:
يَا مَنْ خَتَمَ النُّبُوَّةَ بِمُحَمَّدٍ
Yā man khatama an-nubuwwata bimuḥammadin
O He Who has sealed the Prophethood with Muhammad,
Ee Yule Aliyetia muhuri wa Utume kwa Muhammad,
صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَالِهِ
Ṣallā Allāhu ʿalayhi wālihi
Allah may bless him and his Household,
Mwenyezi Mungu amrehemu yeye na Ahli zake (Kizazi chake),
اِخْتِمْ لِىْ فِى يَوْمِى هَذَا بِخَيْرٍ
Ikhtim liā fiā yawmiā hadhā bikhayrin
(please) seal with goodness this day of mine,
(tafadhali) hitimisha kwa kheri siku yangu hii,
وَشَهْرِىْ بِخَيْرٍ
Washahriā bikhayrin
this month of mine,
na mwezi wangu kwa kheri,
وَسَنَتِىْ بِخَيْرٍ
Wasanatiā bikhayrin
this year of mine,
na mwaka wangu kwa kheri,
وَعُمْرِيْ بِخَيْرٍ.
Waʿumrī bikhayrin.
and my entire lifetime.
na umri wangu wote kwa kheri.
Instructions
You may say the words of professing that there is no god save Allah and the words of seeking His protection, which will be mentioned in the coming chapter about the supplications in mornings and evenings. You may then put your hand on the head and pass it over your face. You may then hold your beard and say the following:
Unaweza kusema maneno ya kukiri kwamba hakuna mungu isipokuwa Mwenyezi Mungu na maneno ya kutafuta ulinzi Wake, ambayo yatatajwa katika sura inayofuata kuhusu dua za asubuhi na jioni. Kisha unaweza kuweka mkono wako kichwani na kuupitisha juu ya uso wako. Kisha unaweza kushika ndevu zako na kusema yafuatayo:
اَحَظَتُ عَلَى نَفْسِى وَاهْلِى
Aḥaẓatu ʿalā nafsiā wāhliā
I include myself, my family,
Najijumuisha nafsi yangu, familia yangu,
وَمَالِى وَوَلْدِىْ
Wamāliā wawaldiā
my property, and my sons,
mali yangu, na watoto wangu,
مِنْ غَائِبٍ وَشَاهِدٍ
Min ghāʾibin washāhidin
both the absent and the present
wote wawili walio mbali na waliopo
بِاللهِ الَّذِي لَا اِلْهَ اِلَّا هَوَ
Biāllhi adh-dhī lā al-ha al-ā hawa
with Allah save Whom there is no god,
kwa Mwenyezi Mungu ambaye hakuna mungu ila Yeye,
عَالِمُ الغَيْبِ وَالشَّهَادَةِ
ʿālimu al-ghaybi wālsshahādati
the Knower of the unseen and the seen,
Mjuzi wa siri na dhahiri,
الرَّخمْنُ الرَّحِيْمُ
Ar-rakhmnu ar-raḥīmu
the All-beneficent, the All-merciful,
Mwingi wa Rehema, Mwenye Kurehemu,
الْحَىُّ الْقَيُّوْمُ
Al-ḥā al-qayyūmu
the Ever-living, the Self-subsisting.
Aliye Hai Milele, Msimamia Mambo Yote.
لَا تَاخُذُهُ سِنَةُ وَلَا نَوْمُ.....
Lā tākhudhuhu sinatu walā nawmu.....
Slumber does not overtake Him nor sleep. Whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth is His. Who is he that can intercede with Him but by His permission? He knows what is before them and what is behind them, and they cannot comprehend anything out of His knowledge except what He pleases. His knowledge extends over the heavens and the earth, and the preservation of them both tires Him not, and He is the Most High, the Great.
Sinzia haimshiki wala kulala. Ni Vyake vilivyomo mbinguni na vilivyomo katika ardhi. Ni nani huyo anayeombea mbele Yake bila ya idhini Yake? Anajua yaliyo mbele yao na yaliyo nyuma yao; wala wao hawajui chochote katika elimu Yake isipokuwa kwa alitakalo. Enzi Yake imeeneza mbinguni na ardhi, wala hakumchoshi kuzilinda mbili hizo, Naye ndiye Aliye Juu, Mkuu.
