DUA ON THE 22ND NIGHT OF RAMADHAN
DUA KATIKA USIKU WA TAREHE 22 RAMADHANI
يَا سَالِخَ النَّهَارِ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ فَاِذَا نَخنُ مُظْلِمُوْنَ
O you who separate the day from the night, then, behold, we become oppressed,
Enyi mnaotenganisha mchana na usiku, basi tunadhulumiwa.
وَمُجْرِي الشَّمْسِ لِمُسْتَقَرَّهَا بِتَقْدِيْرِكَ، يَا عَزِيْزُ يَا عَلِيْمُ،
And the course of the sun is its resting place by Your decree, O Mighty, O All-Knowing,
Na mwendo wa jua ndio mahali pake pa kupumzikia kwa amri yako, Ewe Mwenye nguvu, Mjuzi wa yote.
وَمُقَدَّرَ الْقَمَرِ مَنَازِلَ حَتَّى عَادَ كَالْعُرْجُوْنِ الْقَدِيْمِ،
And the moon was destined for phases until it returned like the ancient crescent moon.
Na mwezi uliwekwa kwa awamu mpaka ukarudi kama mwezi mpevu wa kale.
يَا نُوْرَ كُلَّ نُوْرٍ،
O light of all light,
Ewe nuru ya nuru yote,
وَمُثْتَهَى كُلِّ رَغْبَةٍ،
And the ultimate destination of every desire,
Na mwisho wa kila matamanio,
وَوَلِيَّ كُلَّ نِعْمَةٍ،
And the Grantor of every blessing,
Na mpaji wa kila baraka,
يَا اللّهُ يَا رَحْمْنُ،
O God, O Most Merciful,
Ewe Mwenyezi Mungu, mwingi wa rehema,
يَا اَللهُ يَا قُدُّوْسُ،
O God, O Holy One,
Ee Mungu, Mtakatifu,
يَا اَحَدُ يَا وَاحِدُ يَا فَرْدُ
Oh one, oh one, oh individual
Oh moja, oh moja, oh mtu binafsi
يَا اَللهُ يَا اَللهُ يَا اَللهُ،
Oh God, oh God, oh God,
Ee Mungu, ee Mungu, ee Mungu,
لَكَ الْاَسْمَاءُ الْحُسْتَى،
You have the most beautiful names,
Una majina mazuri zaidi,
وَالْاَمْثَالَ الْعُلْيَا،
And the highest examples,
Na mifano ya juu zaidi,
وَالْكِبْرِيَآءُ وَالْأَلَاءُ،
And pride and honor,
Na kiburi na heshima,
اَساَلُكَ اَنْ تُصَلِّيَ عَلى مُحَمَّدٍ وَآهْلِ بَيْتِهِ،
I ask you to bless Muhammad and his family,
Ninakuomba umbariki Muhammad na familia yake,
وَآَنْ تَجْعَلَ اسْمِي فِيْ هَذِهِ اللَّيْلَةِ فِي السُّعَدَاءِ،
And that you make my name among the happy ones this night,
Na kwamba ulifanye jina langu kati ya wale walio na furaha usiku huu,
وَرُوْحِيْ مَعَ الشَّهَدَاءِ،
And my soul is with the martyrs,
Na roho yangu iko pamoja na mashahidi.
وَاِحسَانِي فِي عِلَيِّيْنَ،
And my kindness in Aliyin,
Na wema wangu katika Aliyin,
وَاِسَاءَتِي مَغْفُوْرَةً،
My offense is forgiven,
Kosa langu limesamehewa,
وَآَنْ تَهَبَ لِي يَقِيْنًا تُبَاشِرُ بِهِ قَلْبِيْ،
And if you give me certainty you will please my heart,
Na ukinipa yakini utaufurahisha moyo wangu,
وَاِيْمَانًا يُذْهِبُ الشَّكَّ عَنَّيْ،
And a faith that removes doubt from me,
Na imani inayoniondolea shaka.
وَتُرْضِيَني بِمَا قَسَمْتَ لِيْ،
And please me with what you have apportioned for me,
Na niridhishe kwa yale uliyonigawia.
وَاتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً
And We have given us good in this world
Na tumetupa mema katika dunia hii
وَفِى الْأخِرَةِ حَسَنَةَ
And in the afterlife it will be good
Na katika maisha ya baadaye itakuwa nzuri
وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ الحَرِيْقِ،
Protect us from the torment of burning fire,
Utulinde na adhabu ya moto uwakao,
وَاززُقْنِيْ فِيْهَا ذِكْرَكَ وَشُكْرَكَ وَالرَّغَبَةَ اِلَيْكَ
And bless me with remembrance of You, gratitude to You, and longing for You.
Na nibariki kwa kukukumbuka Wewe, kukushukuru, na kukutamani Wewe.
وَالْإِنَابَةَ وَالتَّوْفِيْقَ لِمَا وَفَّقْتَ لَهُ مُحَمَّدًا وَالَ مُحَمَّدٍ عَلَيْهِمُ السَّلَامُ.
And representation and success in what You granted Muhammad and his family, peace be upon them.
Na uwakilishi na mafanikio katika yale uliyompa Muhammad na aali zake, amani iwe juu yao.
