Instructions
Ali ibn al-Husayn Zayn al-'Abidin(a.s.), once, gazed at the new moon of Ramadan while he was walking. He therefore stopped and said the following:
Ali ibn al-Husayn Zayn al-'Abidin (a.s.), mara moja, aliutazama mwezi mpya wa Ramadhani alipokuwa akitembea. Kwa hiyo alisimama na kusema yafuatayo:
آَيُّهَا الْخَلْقُ الْمُطِيْعُ
O obedient creation
Ewe uumbaji mtiifu
الدَّائِبُ السَّرِيْعُ،
the fast one,
ya haraka,
المُتَرَدِّدُ فِيْ مَنَازِلِ التَّقْدِيْرِ،
He who is hesitant about the levels of appreciation,
Anayesitasita kuhusu viwango vya kuthaminiwa,
الْمُتَصَرَّفُ فِيْ فَلَكِ التَّذْبِيْرِ،
For you know what the eyes are deceitful and what the breasts hide.
Yule anayesimamia mzunguko wa kipeperushi,
أمَنْتُ بِمَنْ نَوَّرَ بِكَ الظَّلَمَ،
I believed in the one who enlightened injustice through you.
Nilimwamini yule aliyeangazia dhulma kupitia wewe.
وَاَوْضَحَ بِكَ البُهَمَ،
And with you I will clarify the understanding,
Na pamoja nawe nitafafanua ufahamu,
وجَعَلَكَ أيَةً مِنْ أيَاتِ مُلْكِهِ،
And He made you one of the signs of His kingdom.
Na akakufanya kuwa miongoni mwa alama za ufalme wake.
وَعَلَامَةً مِنْ عَلَامَاتِ سُلْطَانِهِ،
And a sign of his authority,
Na ishara ya mamlaka yake,
فَحَدَّ بِكَ الزَّمَانَ،
So time has limited you,
Kwa hivyo wakati umekuwekea kikomo,
وَامْتَهَنَكَ بِالْكَمَالِ وَالنُّقْصَانِ،
He made you proud of perfection and imperfection.
Alikufanya ujivunie ukamilifu na kutokamilika.
وَالطُلْوْعِ وَالْأُفُوْلِ،
And the rising and the falling,
Na kupanda na kushuka,
وَالإِنارَةِ والْكُسُوفِ،
And illumination and eclipses,
Na mwanga na kupatwa kwa jua,
فِي كُلِّ ذِلِكَ آَنْتَ لَهُ مُطِيْعُ،
In all of this, you were obedient to him.
Katika haya yote, ulikuwa mtiifu kwake.
وَإِلَى اِرَادَتِهِ سَرِيْعٌ،
And he is quick to his will,
Na yeye ni mwepesi kwa mapenzi yake,
سُبْحَانَهُ مَا اَعْجَبَ مَا دَبَّرَ مِنْ آَمْرِكَ،
Glory be to Him, how wonderful is what He has planned for you.
Utukufu ni wake, ni ajabu jinsi gani aliyokupangia.
وَالْطَفَ مَا صَنَعَ فِيْ شَانِكَ،
And what kindness he did to you,
Na ni fadhili gani alizokufanyia,
جَعَلَكَ مِفْتَاحَ شَهْرٍ حَادِثٍ لِآمْرٍ حَادِثٌ،
He made you the key to a new month for a new matter.
Alikufanya ufunguo wa mwezi mpya kwa jambo jipya.
فَاسْاَلُ اللهَ رَبِّي وَرَبَّكَ،
So I ask God, my Lord and your Lord,
Basi namuomba Mwenyezi Mungu, Mola wangu Mlezi na Mola wenu Mlezi.
وَخَالِقِي وَخَالِقَكَ،
And my Creator and your Creator,
Na Muumba wangu na Muumba wenu.
وَمُقَدِّرِيْ وَمُقَدِّرَكَ،
My esteemed and your esteemed,
Mtukufu wangu na mtukufu wako,
وَمُصَوِّرِيْ وَمُصَوِّرَكَ
And my photographer and your photographer
Na mpiga picha wangu na mpiga picha wako
آَنْ يُصَلِّيَ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَألِ مُحَمَّدٍ،
To send blessings upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad,
Kutuma baraka juu ya Muhammad na familia ya Muhammad,
وَآَنْ يَجْعَالَكَ هِلَالَ بَرَكَةٍ لَا تَمْحَقُهَا الْآَيَامُ،
And may the crescent bring you a blessing that days will never fade away,
Na mwezi mpevu wakuletee baraka ambazo siku hazitaisha kamwe,
وَطَهَارَةٍ لَا تُدَنِّسُهَا الأٰثَامُ،
And purity not defiled by sins,
Na usafi usiotiwa unajisi na dhambi.
هِلَالَ آَمْنٍ مِنَ الْأَقَاتِ،
A crescent that is safe from the times,
Mwezi mpevu ambao ni salama kutoka kwa nyakati,
وَسَلَامَةٍ مِنَ السَّيِّئَاتِ،
And safety from evil,
Na salama kutoka kwa uovu,
هِلَالَ سَعْدٍ لَا نَخْسَ فِيْهِ
The crescent of Saad is not broken
Mwezi mpevu wa Saad haujakatika
يُمْنٍ لَا نَكَدَ مَعَهُ،
A Yemen with whom we will not suffer hardship,
Yemen ambayo hatutapata shida nayo.
وَيُسْرٍ لَا يُمَازِجُهُ عُسْرٌ،
And ease is not mixed with hardship,
Na wepesi hauchanganyiki na dhiki.
وَخَيْرٍ لَا يَشُوْبُهُ شَرُّ،
And goodness not tinged with evil,
Na wema usio na ubaya.
هِلَالَ آَمْنٍ وَاِيْمَانٍ
A crescent of safety and faith
Nusu ya usalama na imani
وَنِعْمَةٍ وَإِحْسَانٍ
And grace and benevolence
Na neema na fadhili
وَسَلَامَةٍ وَاِسْلَامٍ،
And safety and peace,
Na usalama na amani,
اَللَّهُمَّ صَلَّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَال مُحَمَّدٍ،
O God, bless Muhammad and his family,
Ewe Mola mrehemu Muhammad na Aali zake.
وَاجْعَلْنَا مِنْ اَرْضُى مَنْ طَلَعَ عَلَيْهِ،
And make us among those who please those upon whom we ascend,
Na utujaalie tuwe miongoni mwa wanao waridhia wale tunaowapanda.
وَاَزْكَى مَنْ نَظَرَ اِليْهِ،
And he is more pure than he who looks at him,
Na yeye ni msafi zaidi kuliko anayemtazama.
وَاسْعَدَ مَنْ تَعَبَّدَ لكَ فِيْهِ،
And the happiest is he who worships You in it.
Na mwenye furaha zaidi ni yule anayekuabudu ndani yake.
وَوَفَّقْنَا اَللّهُمَّ فِيْهِ لِلطَّاعَةِ وَالتَّوْبَةِ،
May God grant us success in it for obedience and repentance.
Mungu atujaalie kufanikiwa ndani yake kwa utii na toba.
وَاعْصِمْنَا فِيْهِ مِنَ الْأَثَامِ وَالْحَوْبَةِ،
And protect us from sins and punishment,
Na utulinde na dhambi na adhabu.
وَاَوْزِعْنَا فِيْهِ شُكْرَ النَّعْمَةِ،
And distribute therein gratitude for the blessing,
Na sambaza humo shukrani kwa neema.
والبِسْنَا فِيْهِ جُنَنَ العَافِيَةِ،
And clothe us in the garden of wellness,
Na tuvike bustani ya wema.
وَاَثْمِمْ عَلَيْنَا بِاسْتِكْمَالِ طَاعَتِكَ فِيْهِ الْمِنَّةَ،
And sin against us by completing your obedience, which is a blessing.
Na ututendee dhambi kwa kukamilisha utiifu wako, ambao ni baraka.
اِنَّكَ اَنْتَ الْمَنَّانُ الْحَمِيْدُ،
You are the Most Gracious, the Most Praiseworthy,
Wewe ni Mwingi wa Rehema, Mwenye kusifiwa,
وَصَلَّى اللهُ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَألِهِ الطَيِّبِيْنَ،
May God’s blessings be upon Muhammad and his good family,
Rehema za Mwenyezi Mungu ziwe juu ya Muhammad na aali zake wema,
وَاجْعَلْ لَنَا فِيْهِ عَوْنًا مِنْكَ عَلَى مَا نَدَبْتَنَا اِلَيْهِ
And grant us in it Your help in what You have called upon us to do.
Na utupe ndani yake msaada wako katika yale uliyotuitia.
مِنْ مُفْتَرَضٍ طَاعَتِكَ،
They are like birds of prey
Ninapaswa kukutii,
وَتَقَبَّلْهَا إِنَّكَ الْأَكْرَمُ مِنْ كُلَّ كَرِيْمٍ،
And accept it, for you are the most generous of all generous people.
Na ukubali, kwani wewe ndiye mkarimu kuliko watu wote wakarimu.
وَالْارْحَمُ مِنْ كُلِّ رَحِيْمٍ،
And the Most Merciful of all the Merciful,
Na Mwingi wa kurehemu kuliko wote wanaorehemu.
أمِيْنَ أمِيْنَ رَبَّ الْعَالَمِيْنَ.
Amen, Amen, Lord of the worlds.
Amina, Amina, Mola wa walimwengu wote.
