The month of Dhuโ€™l-Qaโ€™dah is the first of the Sacred Months to which Almighty Allah has referred in the Holy Qurโ€™an. Sayyid Ibn Tawus describes it as the month in which prayers are answered during hardships. The Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) has narrated that whoever offers a special prayer on Sundays in Dhuโ€™l-Qaโ€™dah will receive great reward: their repentance will be accepted, their sins forgiven, their rivals pleased with them on the Day of Resurrection, they will die upon true faith, be granted the true religion, their grave will be expanded and illuminated, their parents will be pleased, the sins of their parents and offspring will be forgiven, their sustenance will be made abundant, the Angel of Death will be lenient with them, and their soul will leave their body with ease. The method of this prayer is: on Sunday one should bathe, perform wudhu, and pray four units (rakโ€˜ahs). In each rakโ€˜ah, Surah al-Fatiha is recited once, Surah al-Tawhid three times, and Surah al-Falaq and Surah al-Nas once each. After the prayer, one should say Istighfar (Astaghfirullah) one hundred times, then say: โ€œThere is no power and no strength except with Allah, the Most High, the All-Great.โ€ Then recite this supplication: โ€œO Almighty! O All-Forgiving! Forgive my sins and the sins of all believing men and women, for none forgives sins except You.โ€ It is also narrated that fasting three consecutive days in a Sacred Monthโ€”Thursday, Friday, and Saturdayโ€”brings the reward of nine hundred years of worship. The great Shaykh Ali ibn Ibrahim al-Qummi said: โ€œThe rewards of good deeds, as well as the punishments of evil deeds, are multiplied in the Sacred Months.โ€
