worship Him. He thus extended for them the tables of His benevolence and magnanimity. On this day too, Satan becomes abject, lowly, expelled, and angry more than any other day.

It is narrated that Imam Zayn al'Abidin (a.s.), on the ninth of Dhu'l-Hijjah, heard someone begging people for financial aid.

The Imam (a.s.) said to him, "Woe is you! On such a day, do you beg other than Almighty Allah? On this day, even fetuses in wombs are expected to be included with the mercy of Almighty Allah and they will be delighted.

First: It is recommended to perform bathing on this day.

Second: It is recommended to visit the holy tomb of Imam al- Husayn (a.s.), for its reward is equal to the reward of one thousand times of Haji, one thousand times of 'Umrah, and one thousand times of jihad (holy war), and even more. The

narrations entailing the great merits and rewards of visiting the holy tomb of Imam al-Husayn (a.s.) on the ninth of Dhu'l- Hijjah have been uninterruptedly reported. If fact, the reward of visiting the holy tomb of Imam al-Husayn (a.s.) and having

the honor of attending therein is not less than the reward of attending on Mount 'Arafat and even more.

Third: It is recommended to offer a two unit prayer immediately after the obligatory Asr Prayer before saying the supplicatory prayers of 'Arafat. This prayer should be offered outdoors and it should include confessions of sins. One who

offers this prayer will be granted the reward of attending on Mount 'Arafat and having all sins forgiven.

After this prayer, it is recommended to begin with the acts and supplications of the 'Arafat Day that are reported from the Holy Infallibles (a.s.). Although these acts and supplications are too numerous to be mentioned in this

book, I will try to mention a number of them.

In al-Misbah, al-Kaf'ami says that it is recommended to observe fasting on the 'Arafat Day, unless fasting prevents from saying the supplications. It is also recommended to bathe oneself before midday (zohr) and to visit the holy tomb

of Imam al-Husayn (a.s.) on day and night. At midday (zohr), it is recommended to leave one's house and offer the obligatory Zohr and Asr prayers outdoors with complete performance of their parts. After accomplishment, it is

recommended to offer a two unit prayer reciting Surah al- Faatehah and Surah al-Tawheed in the first unit and Surah al- Faatehah and Surah al-Kafirun in the second. After that, it is recommended to offer a four unit prayer reciting at each unit

Say the following doxology (zikr) that is reported from the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.):

فِىْ السَّمَاءِ عَرْشُهُ

His throne is in heaven

سُبْحَانَ الَذِيْ

Glory be to Him

سُبْحَانَ الّذِيْ فِي الاَرْضِ حُكْمُهُ

Glory be to Him whose rule is on earth

سُبْحَانَ الَذِيْ فِي الْقُبْوْرِ قَضَاؤْهُ

Glory be to Him who is in the graves, His decree is

سُبْحَانَ الَّذِيْ فِي الْبَخْرِ سَبِيْلُهُ

Glory be to Him whose path is in vaporization

سُبْحَانَ الَذِيْ فِي النَّارِ سُلْطَانُهُ

Glory be to Him whose authority is in the fire

سُبْحَانَ الَّذِيْ فِي الْجَنَّةِ رَحْمَتُهُ

Glory be to Him whose mercy is in Paradise

سُبُحَانَ الَذِي فِي الْقِيَامَةِ عَدْلَهُ

Glory be to Him who is just in the resurrection.

سُبْحَانَ الَذِيْ رَفَعَ السَّمَاءَ

Glory be to Him who raised the sky

سُبْحَانَ الَذِيْ بَسَطَ الْأَرْضَ

Glory be to Him who spread out the earth

سُبْحَانَ الَّذِيْ لَا مَلْجَاَ وَ لَا مَتْجَى مِنْهُ اِلَّا اِلَيْهِ.

Glory be to Him, from whom there is no refuge or refuge except to Him.

Then, repeat the following doxology (zikr) one hundred times:

سُبْحَانَ اللهِ

All glory be to Allah,

وَ الْحَمْدُ للهِ

All glory be to Allah, all praise be to Allah, there is no god save Allah,

وَ لَا إِلْهَ اِلَّا اللهُ

There is no god but Allah

وَ اللهُ اَكْبَرُ.

And God is great.

There is no god save Allah.

وَحَدَهُ لَا شَرِيْكَ لهُ

He is alone and has no partner

لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَ لَهُ الْحَمْدُ

To Him is the kingdom and to Him is all praise.

يُخيِيْ وَ يُمِيْتُ

He kills and kills

وَ يُمِيْتُ وَ يُخِيِيْ

And he kills and he makes me sick

وَ هُوَ حَيٌّ لَا يَمُؤْتُ

And He is alive and does not die

بِيَدِهِ الخَيْرُ

All goodness is at His Hand,

وَ هُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءِ قَدِيْرٌ.

And He has power over all things.

اَسْتَغْفِرُ اللهَ الَّذِيْ لَا اِلْهَ اِلَّا هُوَ

I ask forgiveness from God, besides whom there is no god

الْحَيُّ الْقَيُّوْمُ وَ اَتُوْبُ اِلَيْهِ

The Ever-Living, the Eternal, and I turn to Him

يَا اَللهُ

O Allah!

يَا رَحْمْنُ

O Most Merciful

يَا رَحِيْمُ

O Merciful

يَا بَدِيْعَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَ الْاَرْضِ

O Fashioner of the heavens and the earth!

يَا ذَا الْجَلَالِ وَ الْإِكْرَامِ

O Lord of Majesty and Dignity!

يَا حَيُّ يَا قَيُّوْمُ

O Ever-living! O Self-Subsistent!

يَا حَنَّانُ يَا مَنَّانُ-

Oh tenderness, oh mannan -

يَا لَا اِلَهَ اِلَّا اَنْتَ

Oh, there is no god but You

أمِيْنَ

Amen

Then, say the following:

اَللَّهُمَّ إِنَّيَّ اَساَلُكَ

Oh God, I ask you

يَا مَنْ هُوَ اَقْرَبُ إِلَيَّ مِنْ حَبْلِ الْوَرِيْدِ

O who is closer to me than my jugular vein

يَا مَنْ يَحْوْلُ بَيْنَ الْمَرْءِ وَ قَلْبِهِ

O He who comes between a person and his heart

يَا مَنْ هُوَ بِالْمَنْظَرِ الْاَعْلَى وَ بِالْأُفُقِ الْمُبِيْنِ

O He who is in the highest view and the clear horizon

يَا مَنْ هَوَ الرَّحْمْنُ عَلَى الْعَرْشِ اسْتَوْى

O He who is the Most Merciful, above the Throne.

يَا مَنْ ليْسَ كَمِثْلِهِ شَيْءٌ

O He, there is nothing like Him

وَ هُوَ السَّمِيْعُ البَصيْرُ

And with him were two spoils of war

آَسآَلُكَ آَنْ تُصَلِّيَ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ الِ مُحَمَّدٍ

I ask you to bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad

اَللَّهُمَّ يَا اَجْوَدَ مَنْ اعْطى

Oh God, the best of those who give

وَ يَا خَيْرَ مَنْ سُئِل

and O Best of those who are asked!

وَ يَا أَزحَمَ مَنِ اسْتُرْجِمَ

Oh, the most crowded of those who are stoned

اَللَّهُمَّ صَلَّ عَلَى مُحَمَدٍ وَ الِهِ فِيْ الْاَوّلِيْنَ

O God, bless Muhammad and his family among the first two

وَ صَلَّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ الِهِ فِي الْأَخِرِيْنَ

And bless Muhammad and his family among others

وَاصَلَّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ الِهِ فِي الْمَلَاِ الْاَعْلَى

And bless Muhammad and his family in the highest assembly

وَ صَلَّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ الهِ فِي الْمُرْسَلِيْنَ

And bless Muhammad and his family among the messengers

اَللّهُمَّ اَعْطِ مُحَمَّدًا وَالَهُ

Oh God, grant Muhammad and his family

الْوَسِيْلَةَ وَ الْفَضِيْلَةَ

The means and the virtue

وَ الشَّرَفَ وَ الرِّفْعَةَ

And honor and exaltation

وَ الدَّرَجَةَ الكَبِيْرَةَ

And the great degree

اَللَّهُمَّ إِنَّيّ اَمَنْتُ بِمُحَمَّدٍ

Oh God, I have believed in Muhammad

صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ ألِهِ وَ لَمْ آَرَهُ

May God’s prayers and peace be upon him and his family, and I did not see him

فَلا تَخرِمْنِيْ فِيْ [يَوْمَ] الْقِيَامَةِ رُوَّيَتَهُ

So do not deceive me on the Day of Resurrection. I narrated it.

وَ اززُقْنِيْ صُخْبَتَهُ

And his noise disturbed me

وَ تَوَفَّنِيْ عَلَى مِلّتِهِ

And let me die following his religion

وَ اسْقِنِيْ مِنْ حَوْضِهِ

And give me water from its basin

مَشْرَبًا رَوِيَّا

A drink full of water

سَائِفًا هَنِيْئًا

Have a good trip

لَا اَظْمَاً بَعْدَهُ اَبَدًا

I will never be thirsty after that

اِنَّكَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيْرٌ

Indeed, You are over all things competent.

اَللَّهُمَّ إِنَّيّ أمَنُتُ بِمُحَمَّدٍ

Oh God, I believe in Muhammad

صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ الِهِ وَ لَمْ آَرَهُ

May the peace and blessings of God be upon him and his family, and I did not see him

فَعَرِّفْنِيْ فِيْ الْجِنَانِ وَجَهَهُ

So he made his face known to me in Paradise

اَللّهُمَّ بَلَغْ مُحَمَّدًا

Oh God, convey the message to Muhammad

صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ الِهِ

May God’s prayers and peace be upon him and his family

مِنَّيْ تَحِيَّةُ كَثِيْرَةً وَ سَلَامًا

Many greetings and peace from me

Glory be to God before every Sunday,

وَسُبْحَانَ اللهِ بَعْدَ كُلَّ آَحَدٍ،

And Glory be to God after every Sunday,

وَسُبْحَانَ اللهِ مَعَ كُلِّ آَحَدٍ،

And Glory be to God with every one,

وَسُبْحَانَ اللهِ يَبْقَى رَبُّنَا وَيَفْنِى كُلَّ آَحَدٍ،

Glory be to God, our Lord endures and everyone perishes.

وَسُبْحَانَ اللهِ تَسْبِيْحًا يَفْضُلُ تَسْبِيحَ الْمُسَبَّحِيْنَ

And Glory be to God, a glorification that excels the glorification of those who praise Him

فَضْلًا كَثِيرًا قَبْلَ كُلِّ آَحَدٍ،

Much grace before every Sunday,

وَسُبْحَانَ اللهِ تَسْبِيْحًا يَفْضُلُ تَسْبِيحَ الْمُسَبَّحِيْنَ

And Glory be to God, a glorification that excels the glorification of those who praise Him

فَضْلًا كَثِيْرًا بَعدَ كُلَّ آَحَدٍ،

Much grace after every Sunday,

وَسُبْحَانَ اللهِ تَسْبِيْحًا يَفْضُلُ تَسْبِيحَ الْمُسَبَّحِيْنَ

And Glory be to God, a glorification that excels the glorification of those who praise Him

فَضْلًا كَثِيْرًا مَعَ كُلَّ آَحَدٍ،

Much kindness to everyone,

وَسُبْحَانَ اللّهِ تَسْبِيْحًا يَفْضُلُ تَسْبِيْحَ الْمُسَبَّحِيْنَ

And Khaled, and Hanzala, and Luqman

فَضْلًا كَثِيْرًا لِرَبَّنَا الْبَاقِى وَيَفْنى كُلَّ آَحَدٍ،

Much grace to our Lord, who endures and every one perishes.

وَسُبْحَانَ اللهِ تَسْبِيْحًا لَا يُخْصَى وَلَا يُذْرُى

Glory be to God, praise be to Him who is not castrated or castrated.

وَلَا يُنْسُى وَلَا يَبْلِىٰ

It will not be forgotten or worn out

وَلَا يَفْنِى وَلَيْسَ لَهُ مُثْتَهُى،

It does not fade away, and it has no final destination.

وَسُبْحَانَ اللهِ تَسْبِيْحًا يَدُوْمُ بِدَوَامِهِ

Glory be to God, a praise that lasts forever.

وَيَبْقَى بِبَقَائِهِ فِىْ سِنْى الْعَالَمِيْنَ

And he remains in the age of the worlds

وَشُهُوْرِ الدُّهُوْرِ وَآَيَامِ الدُّنْيَا

And the months of eternity and the days of this world

وَسَاعَاتِ اللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ،

And the hours of the day and night,

وَسُبْحَانَ اللهِ أَبَدَ الْاَبَدِ وَمَعَ الْاَبَدِ

Glory be to God forever and ever and forever.

مِمَّا لَا يُخْصِيْهِ الْعَدَدُ

Which is not specific to the number

وَلَا يُفْنِيْهِ الاَمَدُ

Time does not end it

وَلَا يَقْطَعَهُ الْاَبَدُ،

And eternity will never sever it,

وَتَبَارَكَ اللهُ اَحسَنُ الْخَالِقِيْنَ.

Blessed be God, the best of creators.

وَالْحَمْدُ للهِ قَبْلَ كُلَّ آَحَدٍ،

And praise be to God before every Sunday,

وَالْحَمْدُ للهِ بَعْدَ كُلِّ آَحَدٍ،

And praise be to God after every Sunday,

وَالْحَمْدُ للهِ مَعَ كُلِّ اَحَدٍ،

And praise be to God with every one,

وَالْحَمْدُ للهُ يَبْقَى رَبُّنَا وَيَفْنَى كُلَّ آَحَدٍ،

Praise be to God, our Lord endures and everyone perishes.

وَالْحَمْدُ للهِ حَمْدًا يَفْضُلُ حَمْدَا الْحَامِدِيْنَ

Much blessings every Sunday tomorrow,

وَالْحَمْدُ للهِ حَمْدًا يَفْضُلُ حَمْدَا الْحَامِدِيْنَ

Praise be to God, praise be to Him who bestows praise upon those who praise Him.

فَضْلًا كَثِيْرًا مَعَ كُلَّ آَحَدٍ،

Much kindness to everyone,

وَالْحَمْدُ للهِ حَمْدًا يَفْضُلُ حَمْدَا الْحَامِدِيْنَ

Praise be to God, praise be to Him who bestows praise upon those who praise Him.

فَضْلًا كَثِيْرًا لِرَبَّنَا الْبَاقِى وَيَفْنِى كُلَّ آَحَدٍ،

Much grace to our Lord, who endures and perishes every one.

وَالْحَمْدُ للهِ حَمْدًا لَا يُخْصَى وَلَا يُدْرَى

Praise be to God, praise be to Him who cannot be castrated or ignored.

وَلَا يُنْسُى وَلَا يَبْلِىٰ

It will not be forgotten or worn out

وَلَا يَفْتِى وَلَيْسَ لَهُ مُنْتَهى،

It does not cease and it has no end.

وَالْحَمْدُ للهِ حَمْدًا يَدُوْمُ بِدَوَامِهِ

Praise be to God, praise be to Him that lasts forever.

وَيَبْقَى بِبَقَائِهِ فِىْ سِنْى العَالَمِيْنَ

And he remains in the age of the worlds

وَشُهُوْرِ الدُّهُوْرِ وَآيَّامِ الدُّنْيَا

And the months of eternity and the days of the world

وَسَاعَاتِ اللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ،

And the hours of the day and night,

وَالْحَمْدُ للهِ اَبَدَ الْاَبَدِ وَمَعَ الْاَبَدِ

There is no god but God with everyone,

وَلَا الْهَ اِلَّا اللهُ يَبْقَى رَبُّنَا وَيَفْتِى كُلُّ آَحَدٍ،

There is no god but God. Our Lord remains and He issues fatwas to every one.

وَلَا الهَ اِلَّا اللهُ تَهْلِيْلًا يَفْضُلُ تَهْلِيْلَ الْمُهَلَّلِيْنَ

There is no god but God, a greeting that is superior to the greeting of those who are cheering.

فَضْلًا كَثِيرًا قَبْلَ كُلّ آَحَدٍ،

Much grace before every Sunday,

وَلَا الْهَ اِلَّا اللهُ تَهْلِيْلًا يَفْضُلُ تَهْلِيْلَ الْمُهَلَّلِيْنَ

There is no god but God, a greeting that is superior to the greeting of those who greet people

فَضْلًا كَثِيْرًا بَعدَ كُلَّ آَحَدٍ،

Much grace after every Sunday,

وَلَا الهَ اِلَّا اللهُ تَهْلِيْلًا يَفْضُلُ تَهْلِيْلَ الْمُهَلَّلِيْنَ

And by the truth of every right it is a right over you,

فَضْلًا كَثِيْرًا مَعَ كُلّ آَحَدٍ،

Much kindness to everyone,

وَلَا الْهَ اِلَّا اللهُ تَهْلِيْلًا يَفْضُلُ تَهْلِيْلَ الْمُهَلَّلِيْنَ

There is no god but God, a greeting that is superior to the greeting of those who greet people

فَضْلًا كَثِيْرًا لِرَبَّنَا الْبَاقِى وَيَفْنى كُلَّ آحَدٍ،

Much grace to our Lord, who endures and every one perishes.

وَلَا الْهَ اِلَّا اللهُ تَهْلِيْلًا لَا يُخْصَى وَلَا يُذْرُى

There is no god but God, forever and ever and forever.

مِمَّا لَا يُخصِيْهِ الْعَدَدُ

Which the number does not specify

وَلَا يُفْنِيْهِ الْامَدُ

Time does not end it

وَلَا يَقْطَعَهُ الْأَبَدُ،

And it will never be cut off,

وَتَبَارَكَ اللهُ آَخسَنُ الْخَالِقِيْنَ.

Blessed be God, the best of creators.

وَاللهُ اَكْبَرُ قَبْلَ كُلِّ آَحَدٍ،

And God is Greatest before every Sunday.

وَاللهُ اَكْبَرُ بَعْدَ كُلِّ آَحَدٍ،

And God is Greater after every Sunday,

وَاللهُ اَكْبَرُ مَعَ كُلِّ آَحَدٍ،

And God is greater with every one,

وَاللهُ اَكْبَرُ يَبْقَى رَبُّنَا وَيَفْنى كُلِّ آحَدٍ،

God is Great. Our Lord endures and every one perishes.

فَضْلًا كَثِيرًا قَبْلَ كُلِّ آَحَدٍ،

Much grace before every Sunday,

وَاللهُ اَكْبَرُ تَكْبِيْرًا يَفْضُلُ تَكْبِيْرَا الْمُكَبِّرِيْنَ

And God is the Greatest, His greatness is greater than the greatness of the arrogant.

فَضْلًا كَثِيْرًا بَعدَ كُلَّ آَحَدٍ،

Much grace after every Sunday,

وَاللهُ اَكْبَرُ تَكْبِيْرًا يَفْضُلُ تَكْبِيْرَا الْمُكَبَّرِيْنَ

God is the Greatest, His greatness excels the greatness of the arrogant.

فَضْلًا كَثِيْرًا مَعَ كُلَّ آَحَدٍ،

Much kindness to everyone,

وَاللهُ اَكْبَرُ تَكْبِيْرًا يَفْضُلُ تَكْبِيْرَا الْمُكَبَّرِيْنَ

God is the Greatest, His greatness excels the greatness of the arrogant.

And God is the greatest, everlasting magnification

وَيَبْقَى بِبَقَائِهِ فِى سِنِى الْعَالَمِيْنَ

And he remains in the age of the worlds

وَشُهُوْرِ الدُّهُوْرِ وَآَيَّامِ الدُّنْيَا

And the months of eternity and the days of the world

وَسَاعَاتِ اللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ،

And the hours of the day and night,

وَاللهُ اَكْبَرُ اَبَدَ الْأَبَدِ وَمَعَ الْاَبَدِ

God is the greatest, ever and ever and ever.

مِمَا لَا يُخصِيْهِ الْعَدَدُ

Which the number does not specify

وَلَا يُفْنِيْهِ الْاَمَدُ

Time does not end it

وَلَا يَقْطَعَهُ الْأَبَدُ،

And it will never be cut off,

وَتَبَارَكَ اللهُ اَحْسَنُ الْخَالِقِيْنَ.

Blessed be God, the best of creators.

اَللّهُمَّ مَنْ تَعَبَّا وَ تَهَيَّا

Oh God, who is tired and ready

وَ اَعَدَّ وَ اسْتَعَدَّ

And he prepared and prepared

لِوِفَادَةٍ إِلَى مَخْلُوْقٍ

To return to a created being

رَجَاءَ رِفْدِهِ

Please support him

وَ طَلَبَ نَآئِلِهِ وَ جَائِزَتِهِ

فَاِلَيْكَ يَا رَبَّ تَعْبِيَتِي وَ اسْتِعْدَادِيْ

To You, O Lord, is my toil and my preparation.

رَجَاءَ عَفْوِكَ

Please forgive me

وَ طَلَبَ نَائِلِكَ وَ جَائِزَتِكَ

And he asked for your success and your reward

فَلَا تُخَيِّبْ دُعَآئِي

Do not disappoint my prayers

يَا مَنْ لَا يَخِيْبُ عَلَيْهِ سَائِلْ [السَّائِلُ]

O He upon whom the questioner [the questioner] is not disappointed.

وَ لَا يَنْقُصُهُ نَائِل

And Nael does not lack it

فَاِنَّيْ لَمْ أَتِكَ ثِقَةً بِعَمَلٍ صَالِحِ عَمِلْتُهُ

For I have not come to you confident of a good deed that you have done.

وَ لَا لِوِفَادَةٍ مَخْلُوْقٍ رَجَوْتُهُ

Nor for the return of any creature that I had hoped for.

آَتَيْثُكَ مُقِرًّا عَلَى نَفْسِي بِالْإِسَاءَةِ وَ الظِّلْمِ،

I come to you, acknowledging my abuse and injustice,

مُغْتَرِفًا بِاَنْ لَا حُجَّةَ لِيْ وَ لَا عُذْرَ

Confused that I have no excuse or excuse

أَتَيْتُكَ اَرْجُوْ عَظِيْمَ عَفْوِكَ

I came to you hoping for your great forgiveness

الَذِي عَفَوْتَ [عَلَوْتَ] بِهِ [عَلى] عَنِ الْخَاطِئِيْنَ [الْخَطَائِيْنَ]

With which You have pardoned [their sins] on behalf of the sinners [the sinners]

فَلَمْ يَمْنَعْكَ طُوْلُ عَكُوْفِهِمْ عَلَى عَظِيْمِ الْجُزْمِ

The length of their retreat did not prevent you from being very decisive.

اَنْ عُذْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ بِالرَّحْمَةِ

If You seek mercy upon them

فَيَا مَنْ رَحْمَتُهُ وَاسِعَةً

O He whose mercy is vast

وَ عَفْوُهُ عَظِيْمٌ

And His forgiveness is great

يَا عَظِيْمُ يَا عَظِيْمُ يَا عَظِيْمُ

Oh great, oh great, oh great

لَا يَرُدُّ غَضَبَكَ اِلَّا حِلْمُكَ

Nothing can counteract your anger except your forbearance

وَ لَا يُنجِنْ مِنْ سَخَطِكَ اِلَّا التَّضَرُعُ إِلَيْكَ

No one can be saved from your wrath except by supplicating to you.

فَهَبْ لِيْ يَاَ اِلْهِيْ فَرَجًا

So grant me relief, O my God

بِالْقُدْرَةِ الَّتِيْ تُخِيِيْ بِهَا مَيْتَ الْبِلَادِ،

With the power with which you make the country dead,

وَ لَا تُهْلِكْنِي غَمَّا حَتّى تَسْتَجِيْبَ لِنْ

And do not let grief destroy me until you respond to me.

وَ تُعَرَّفَنِي الإِجَابَةَ فِي دُعَآئِي

And I know the answer to my prayers

وَ اَذِقْنِي طَعَمَ الْعَافِيَةِ إِلْى مُنْتَهَى اَجَلِيْ

And give me the taste of well-being until the end of my life.

وَ لَا تُشْمِثْ بِيْ عَدُوِّيْ

And do not make my enemy gloat over me

وَ لَا تُسَلَّظهُ عَلَيَّ

And do not impose it on me

وَ لَا تُمَكِّنْهُ مِنْ عُنْقِيْ

And do not let him around my neck

اَللَّهُمَ [اِلْهِيْ] إِنْ وَضَعْتَنِي فَمَنْ ذَا الَّذِيْ يَزْفَعُنِي

Oh God [my God], if You put me down, who is there that can lift me up?

وَ اِنْ رَفَعْتَنِيْ فَمَنْ ذَا الَّذِيْ يَضَعْنِيْ

And if You exalt me, who is the one who will lower me?

وَ اِن اَهْلَكْتَنِيْ فَمَنْ ذَا الَذِيْ يَعْرِضُ لَكَ فِي عَبْدِكَ

And if you destroy me, who is there that will appear to you in your servant?

أَوْ يَسْاَلَكَ عَنْ أَمْرِهِ،

Or he asks you about his matter,

وَ قَدْ عَلِمْتُ آَنَّهُ لَيْسَ فِي حُكْمِكَ ظُلْمٌ

And I know that there is no injustice in your ruling.

وَلَا فِي نَقِمَتِكَ عَجَلَةُ

There is no haste in Your vengeance

وَ اِنَّمَا يَعْجَلُ مَنْ يَخَافُ الْفَوْتَ

And from the descent of your torment

وَ اِنَّمَا يَختَاجُ إِلَى الظُلْمِ الضَّعِيْفُ

And he seeks only the weak injustice.

وَ قَدْ تَعَالَيْتَ يَآ اِلْهِيْ عَنْ ذَلِكَ عُلَوًا كَبِيرًا

O my God, You are greatly exalted above that.

اَللَهُمَّ إِنَّيْ آَعُوْذُ بِكَ فَاعِذْنِيْ

O Possessor of majesty and honor

وَ اَسْتَجِيْرُ بِكَ فَاجِزْنِيْ

And I seek refuge in You, so reward me

وَ اَسْتَرْزِقْكَ فَازْزُقْنِيْ

And I ask you for sustenance, so provide for me

وَ أَتَوَكِّلُ عَلَيْكَ فَاكْفِنِيْ

And I trust in you, so be sufficient for me

وَ اَسْتَثْصِرُكَ عَلَى عَدُوِّي [عَدُوّكَ] فَانْصُرْنِيْ

And I seek your victory over my enemy [your enemy], so support me.

وَ اَسْتَعِيْنُ بِكَ فَاعِنَّيْ

And I seek your help, so help me

وَ اَسْتَغْفِرُكَ يَآ اِلْهِيْ فَاغْفِزْ لِيْ

And I ask your forgiveness, O my God, so forgive me

أمِيْنَ أمِيْنَ أمِيْنَ.
